Cute little family run restaurant next to the Cinemark in Matthews. We stopped in to grab some dinner before seeing a movie. We shared the chicken tikka masala with rice and butter naan. I thought it was pretty good. We also ordered chicken biryani but we had to take it to go because it didn’t come out in time. No beer or wine sold here. There were lots of people picking up orders so it seems like a popular spot.

The food here is simply amazing. Very well cooked and prepared. Everything was full of favor and perfectly cooked. The chicken was absolutely perfect. The veggies and sauce were full of flavor and cooked for a good amount of time to develop a great flavor. Best tasting Indian food so far in the area. Definitely worthy of a visit and a return.

I just moved into the area and wanted tasty Indian dish. Royal Biryani did not disappoint me. Wonderful food and good customer service. I'll be going back to try something new on the menu. The prices are good too.

3 to 4 start on the food I wish the had the creamy spinach but they didn't make it on this day. I wish the Restaurant was bigger I felt cramped, but Kurt made my boyfriend and I feel welcomed, COMFORTING and clean yet along with Funny! He made every customer laugh with his great sense of humor. Do please keep in mind that our food was pricey, was around $90 something, I'd say my best food choice here would be the samosa's and the hot Chai tea was pretty excellent ! And my boyfriend enjoyed the world out of the Mango Lassi drink.

What a pleasant and authentic dining experience. I was amazed to have such delicious food and such diverse choices. All of the menu items were prepared by hand... that means this is not fast food. Don't walk in expecting to receive your food immediately. They are making it with quality and that takes time! SO DELICIOUS! Definitely add Biryani to any meal choice and split it amongst your table. Don't skimp on the NAAN... you will regret it. VEGETARIAN OPTIONS ABOUND! Real Chai Masala!!! Spice level made just for you! That's right you who are afraid of spice.... YOU CAN EAT HERE! Don't hesitate to take a chance on this AMAZING little nook of India!!!

The food is so flavorful and spot on when it comes to hitting that comfort of home. I got a level 6 and found my mouth in a happy heat dance with the rich flavors of the curry. I’m a pepper head so a level 6 out of 10 is plenty. People looking for a milder option with still a little heat would probably enjoy it at a 4 or even 5 if you wanna feel the heat. I eat here anytime I have a craving for good home style curry and fresh grains! Thank you for the great meal!

We wanted some Indian food and this place hit that spot. As authentic Indian food as you can get in Charlotte. We ordered Samosas, Garlic Naan, Lajabab, Butter Chicken. Tandoori Chicken Kabob, and Royal Goat Biryani. Everything was delicious and I like the fact they offer different spice levels.

The food here is very good. The spice upon request 1-10 is spot on. Everything I ordered was flavorful and tasted fresh. The customer service and dining experience was not good. The servers consisted of two younger men that were very unprofessional and loud, yelling at each other and one called everyone “brother” at our table and when sat handed me the plates and silverware to distribute to the table. When this gentleman left work for the evening he kicked the door open and left. Our table got their food, but mine took an additional 10 minutes to come out with no warning. We were sat close to the front door and delivery drivers were constantly coming and going or holding the door open which kept making everyone cold. There were children inside, that may have been with the owners or workers, watching movies or playing games on phones or tablets that were loud and obnoxious. I would only recommend getting takeout here but even then question the food because of the level of unprofessional behavior I saw in the front of the restaurant.

We’ve tried this restaurant once before because we were craving Indian food. At first, you walk in and it’s an assuming mom and pop shop. But the food here is crazy good. They give you generous portions and ask how spicy you want your food, on a scale of 1-10. We got a few things off the menu, but their butter chicken rocked our world. We decided then that we would definitely be back. Tonight, we stopped by a second time for our long awaited butter chicken. It was just as we remembered, if not better. We noticed the kitchen had forgotten our side of extra rice, so when we went back inside to ask for it, BK, the server, corrected the mistake and gave us complimentary mango smoothies. Royal Biryani has officially turned us into life time fans. If you’re in the area, you have to try it. No regrets. You’ll thank us later. :)

The food was amazing, freshly baked naan. Service was also excellent, they make you feel welcome and explain any question you may have. Having had authentic Indian food myself, I can say that this is really authentic Indian food, depending on your selection your dish will be really spicy or not at all, if you are not sure about a dish just ask and they will provide details. I was there with my family and kids, everyone including my son loved the food. Highly recommend

Been there twice now. Loved it both times. They've been very accommodating about my dairy allergy and don't mind being patient. The food is tasty, even if you order it mild. (They ask you how spicy you want it on a scale of 1 to 10). Prices are in line with other Indian restaurants in the area and I like the food here much better.

I've been a customer for years now. I love the chicken tikka masala spice level 3 with butter naan, that's basically what we always order. My husband and I don't eat bell peppers, so they always fulfill our requests and make it without it. We never dined in, always order take out, but everytime everyone is super nice to me.

This is one of my favorite places. Everything was just so yummy. The food was flavorful, savory, and succulent. I'm definitely coming back for more!

The food here is really good. However you have to pay for the spice level. I ordered two chicken Tikki Marsalis and paid for a 4 spice level and it was just regular. I guess it’s better to dine in and taste your food to ensure proper spice level. Otherwise the food is good.

Hand down the best Indian restaurant in Charlotte. . Came for lunch left didn’t know what I wanted and I ask the guy who working there for suggestions and let me tell he gave the best suggestions ever . The goat biryani is best .

Thoroughly enjoyed it. First time going and everything was fresh and flavorful. It was still hot when I got home to eat it. If you order online your first time you get 10% off your meal. I got the appetizer that includes the fried cauliflower…AMAZING. I also got the veggie Biryani! It was so good. I’m not going to tell you everything they put in there, but it is definitely worth trying if you like Indian cuisine.

This place is small but very homey. The staff treat you like a friend or family. The mango lassi was really good and not too sweet like some can be. We ordered the jaduee gobi for our appetizer and it came out after a few minutes and was super hot at first but we couldn't stop eating it. I could come here just to eat the cauliflower for a main dish but I didn't. I ordered the goat saagwala with some onion naan and Joe got shrimp tikka masala. (Shrimp isn't on the menu for tikka but we paid a little extra for it). The saagwala was also amazing and creamy with so much flavor but not spicy since I ordered a level 3. The tikka was good but not the best we've had and the rice was a little clumped but it was the end of the day so can't fault them for that. Over all will definitely be back to eat here again. Maybe try some of the dishes again or something new

Everything was delicious! They ask you the spice level you want 1-10. Lots of people were through in the short 30 min we waited for our food. Would order again when in the area.

Literally followed my nose to this place. I was biking up from the greenway to a different food joint and stopped here instead. I was glad I did. Very kind and helpful staff. Scrumptious food. They use so many spices in their meals, and it distinguishes them from most other places.

I ordered lamb, spice level 7 and literally no one on the face of the planet could eat this. I eat here regularly and know what level 7 spicy level is and this is them doing this intentionally. The owner of a GOOD restaurant i used to work for always said "if you cant eat it, dont serve it". They intentionally served a dish that wasn't ordered. I ordered 7, they made and served hotter than 10. This literally is making my stomach upset. Im going to have a word with the owner across the street at the threading and nail place.

I was craving for butter chicken so bad. So glad this place was near my job. Its a bit small inside,but service and staff makes it up for it. Wonderful service and the food was amazing. Garlic Naan was so good with the butter chicken. I am going to come back again for sure.

Food was exceptional. Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. 8/10 heat Tikka Masala was quite hot but well balanced flavor. 3/10 Butter Chicken was delicious. Jaduee Gobi appetizer was incredible. Garlic Naan was very good as well. The restaurant is a little cramped, but it was near-empty at 7 or so on a weeknight.

Food is amazing. Normally seat yourself. Service is "energetic" and prompt. The friendly guy who serves on most nights looks like he loves his job and is having the time of his life! Has a real gift and makes everyone smile. However on busy nights it is very tight inside. Not much seating available and together with people picking up take out/congregating at the door, it has a real impact on your ability to hold quiet conversation (my only reason for 4-star).

One of the best restaurants I've been to recently, taking into account wait time and the fact that the place doesn't invest in outside appearance. The food was excellent. Service was excellent even though they were swamped. Food was brought really quick from the moment we ordered. I might suggest they add staff but beyond that we had an excellent experience. We didn't even want to take the time to take pictures of the food it tasted so good.
