The rice dishes were very nice. The pot stickers were great as well. I would give it a five star until I had the ramen. The soup was too salty, the pork was too hard and noodle was just ok. It is a super popular restaurant in Little Tokyo and people line up for dinner. The price is good. I guess people come for the value.

Quite possibly the best Ramen I've ever had! Stopped in on a whim with some friends. We put our names on the list to be seated and waited about 15 minutes for a table. Once we sat down, the service was fast, friendly, and attentive. The food came out hot and it was delicious! I highly recommend 👌

I came to Daikokuya with my parents and great aunt and had a wonderful lunch. Although there were 4-5 parties ahead of us, we only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. The staff were quick and attentive even though it was the middle of the lunch rush. My favorite items we ordered were the tuna sashimi, gyoza, and tempura. The tuna sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth delicate, the gyoza was fried but not overcooked and had a great beef flavor, and the tempura was perfectly breaded and cooked just enough to maintain a bit of crunch. I also enjoyed the spicy miso ramen, although it wasn’t my favorite item overall. The broth was rich and the noodles were tasty, but it just didn’t wow me—I’d give it 7.7/10. I did, however, really enjoy the soft boiled egg. It was cooked pretty much exactly right. Overall I had a great time at Daikokuya and would certainly recommend it to anyone craving Japanese food in downtown Los Angeles. Thanks, Daikokuya!

i visited on new year's eve — the wait was nearly an hour but it was definitely worth it! the restuarant was small, the atmosphere felt like an authentic japanese ramen bar. everything i ordered was visually appealing and tasted amazing! the appetizers are small, but their ramen bowls are huge! they recommend toppings for each ramen they serve, i took one of the suggestions, definitely worth the extra money. be wary though, when they are busy, they might forget something, which is understandable (they had forgotten to put pork in my ramen). make sure to show up early and be ready to spend a bit, this restuarant is on the pricier side, but definitely worth it!

Amazing ramen. We got the vegetarian broth which tasted just like a liquefied salad would taste like (if you like veggies this is really good). Then we also got the traditional pork bowl, it was just a savory umami mixed with some simple noodles. We got the combinations for both of these. The salad is just shredded cabbage but the dressing is a sesame miso flavor, and made the cabbage great. The rice and pork cutlets were good and helped make this a completely filling meal. The only down side was the combos are expensive

We came on a Thursday during lunch time and wrote our names down on the list. It took about 15 minutes before we were able to get seated which was not bad. We ordered two bowls of the Daikokuya combination ramen 🍜 and it was really tasty. They are offering both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was quick and checked in to make sure we were good.

Really delicious! Nice to have an option of cold or hot. There's different types of toppings to suit your flavor. Noodles were the fattest I've had, perfectly cooked with a nice chew

Our table smelled like urine when we sat down. When we got our ramen, there was no pork. After we asked, they brought us old pork. It was rancid. We could not eat it. The cold noodle my wife ordered was fine. We came here a few times before, but we will never come back after this meal.

This is an exciting ramen shop. Probably not the best ramen in the world, but I gotta say it's very good and very enjoyable. The noodle is cooked with good balance of softness and resistance. The broth is rich but not overly so, inviting enough for you to slurp it clean after you're done with the noodle. The egg and the katsu pork are quite good, although I think they need to marinate the katsu a whole lot more so it has more flavor. Takoyaki is pretty decent but price is kinda expensive. I really like that fact they got combo special where you get the ramen, salad and small pork cutlet on rice, since the pork cutlet is cooked to perfection and super succulent. The service is super quick & efficient with no nonsense attitude and quite attentive, I like that a lot. Place is a bit small, but everywhere in Little Tokyo is a bit small. Expensive? I think price is quite friendly Would I return? Absolutely

We went on a Tuesday for lunch and luckily we got there within 15 minutes of opening as it was starting to attract more patrons and seats were running out. We ordered the Daikokuya ramen combo with pork cutlet rice. The ramen was just ok, the meat was flavourless, the broth was just not remarkable. However, the noodles were good, springy and easy to eat, as well as the boiled egg that was golden yellow and a little bit runny on the inside. The pork cutlet rice offered 3-4 pieces of thick pork cutlet with some sauce on the rice. Along with the coleslaw salad that came with this combo, we were able to feed two people comfortably with the combo dish. There are booth, table, and counter seating. The place is not overly big, so anticipate possible crowds and a wait list during busy meal periods.

Wonderful dining experience we had at this restaurant. We were there on a Thursday before 5pm so we didn’t have to wait. Our waiter was really helpful and efficient with everything. The broth of ramen was delicious and the noodles had the perfect texture. I enjoyed it a lot. I ordered their Daikoku Ramen with small Pork Cutlet Bowl. It was equally tasty. So were all the other plates. Personally I think their price is very reasonable. Their friendly staff certainly was a big part of the wonderful experience over there.

This ramen is top tier!! Amazing must stop in Downtown Los Angeles. Get the original Daikokuya ramen or the Spicy Miso Ramen. Both fire!!! I got a side of Spicy Miso Bomb to make ramen a bit more spicy which was nice. Definitely try the fried rice. Amazing!! Even for leftover it’s even better with some soy sauce and hot sauce. Definitely check out this LA institution and landmark.

My Ramen tasting journey continues. I've heard many good things about this place, I just have never had the change to go because it's a really small place and the wait time is usually an hour+ depending on how big your party is, but I'm so glad we stuck around this time because this is one of the best if not THE best Ramen I've ever had. I'd 100% recommend.

Tiny little spot with little tables and some booth style seating. I sat on the bar. The restaurant is small, but the food came out incredibly fast. The Ramen was some of the best I ever had. Noodles were perfect, and the broth was the highlight! Straight fire! My spring rolls were cooked to a perfect crisp, and the sweet and sour sauce was kind of pink in color, and had a very unique flavor I loved! I also got some sashimi that I will say didn't seem the freshest, but I enjoyed it. I only saw the server once, the service could have been better if when the food was dropped we were checked on, but all and all this was a pleasant experience.

This is hands down my favorite ramen shop. It's got a cozy, bustling atmosphere and their Daikoku ramen is like a flavorful hug in a bowl. It's like a little secret I share with all my closest friends because they deserve the best. No other place compares, please do yourself a favor and try it out.

Classic ramen spot with the yellow awning, the most iconic but not sure if it’s still the best since there’s more competition these days. Ramen is still good though and they do thicker noodles FYI.

3rd time coming here and they did not miss a step. When you arrive, there is a clip board that you add your name too (no one tells you to do this) but they work through the list quickly and offer indoor or outdoor seating. They have two unisex bathrooms which is appreciated after walking around J-town for the afternoon. The food is always amazing and servers and quick. We had barely sat down and waters and utensils were coming out. We ordered a couple of rolls, gyoza and shared a ramen. All were on the table in 10 minutes. Definitely coming back!

This is such a great low key neighbor spot with good food and nice atmosphere. Was not too crowded on a holiday Monday so we could have a great meal without an hour wait in a quiet restaurant where we could hear each other talk without yelling across the table! Kind and attentive fast service since we had limited time to eat before our plans was greatvtoo. Will be back.

The ramen was very good; my family enjoyed the ramen. When we visited the restaurant at my daughter's request because of it's excellent reputation, the place was very crowded, so we made the bad decision to eat our food outdoors. The servers were very courteous and met our needs. However, the outdoor seating was very loud, very dirty (although they try to keep it clean), and the outdoor smell does compliment the good food they serve. We will visit the place again, but only if we can eat indoors.

Daikokuya was great! We waited about 30 mins in line before we were seated - this place gets packed so best to come early! Service was quick, efficient and friendly. The broth was rich and hearty! Noodles are plentiful! We throughly enjoyed our meal.

Great customer service! We sat outside and we got our hot tea right away. The food also came out pretty fast. I thought all the dishes were good but the beef bowl was my favorite. The fried rice was good as well. Definitely a ramen place to try.

Daikokuya Little Tokyo is straight fire and closet to consistency and quality from Japan. The lines for the place are quite long, we experienced recently, but worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. For those with gluten issues, this place has different noodle options for you and having tried them, they are very good. Definitely go here!

Honestly a bit disappointed in the food here. Was expecting at least a great meal based on the reviews and attention but the ramen (ordered tonkatsu and tsukumen) was pretty average, although the takoyaki was pretty great. Service was average, the host sounded bored as you entered but otherwise pretty typical. Come here if you want a normal bowl of ramen but probably not worth lining up.

My friend Adam, Sean & I visited Daikokuya in Little Tokyo 1st St Los Angeles. Since it was my birthday in July 1st. We ordered the world famous Daikoku Ramen for $17.00 homemade gyoza cabbage salad such as side dishes. Very expensive than I expected. Cash only I guess. Adam & Sean treated me like a teacher said thanks. Some reason I wanted order my mom homemade gyoza for togo. Most satisfying ever in my entire life.

Intimate and charming Japanese joint that has stood the test of time. The ramen was great and we left happy customers. I got the beef bowl and I highly recommend it if you need your fixing.

Went here for a friend's birthday, its a decent wait but its worth it. I dont mind they forgot to bring out a few things, it was a very busy lunch rush. Loved the food, they offered thicker noodles, somewhere between the regular and udon, they hit the spot on a hot day. Will definitely try them again when I'm in the area.

I had the tonkotsu ramen i would say one of the best ramen i ever had . The broth i slurp it all the way it's creamy and porky. Even the chasu pork bow rice is bomb. i would highly suggest this place if you want a warm, hearty ramen.

everything we ordered was really good!!! the staff is very very kind!! there is a bit of a line but it’s well worth the wait. plus there’s a ton of shops/places to walk around while yoy wait. food was HOT and portions were enough for two people to share. please stop by if you’re in the area!!

This is one of our favorite ramen spots in Los Angeles. Our dinner service was excellent and the food was so delicious. PROS -Don’t be intimidated if you see a long line outside waiting for a table. There seems to be quick turnover and the wait isn’t too bad. Definitely worth the wait! -Dinner staff (Mon 8:30p) was SO accommodating, friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The Japanese guy host was so polite and courteous. -Fast table service and the food is still excellent. -The Ramen is Tokyo style, broth is delicious and the ramen noodles are fresh. -Gyoza was packed with flavor and super fresh tasting -spicy tuna rolls were also really good and fresh. Perfect amount of spice and not over done, which I love. -We walked out of there completely satisfied with the meal and happy. Can’t wait to come back to eat here again when we are in town. It’s a definite must stop at when visiting Los Angeles.

Food was great. Tasty and authentic. Service was fast and friendly. The 4 star is because it is a little dingy and parking is an issue. Would recommend if you are wanting Ramen!

  • 4/5 emily i. 1 year ago on Google
Daikokuya ramen is very flavorful and they give you a whole boiled egg, 2 slices of pork, green onions, bean sprouts and bamboo shoots with your ramen noodles. They have outdoor seating available as well as indoor. There is usually a line as it is a very popular place.

  • 5/5 Quỳnh T. 8 months ago on Google
The waitlist was pretty long that day and we had to wait for 30 mins to get inside. The spicy miso ramen was flavorful and I loved it. The takoyaki was also one of the best one I've ever tried. Really worth it 😊

  • 5/5 Irving W. 2 years ago on Google
The ramen tastes so good. That's authentic Japanese taste. I like it. And i also like the salad. Why salads i made taste so bad but others can have such a good taste? But one ramen is enough for an adult, never make it a combo. I am so full after having both poke bowl and ramen...

Daikokuya is a great place for ramen in little Tokyo but even more than that is their other dishes, like their rice bowls, which are equally good. Definitely don't sleep on those. I had to knock down a star because the path to the bathrooms are always sticky and slippery..I've been coming here for years and it just seems to always be this way. As someone who wears heels this is pretty concerning for me. I have slipped although nothing serious. Other than that, staff are nice, ambiance is nice, and their beer is good!

Love coming to Daikokuya, a must if you go to Little Tokyo. Long wait, we waited about 45 minutes to an hour. Make sure you sign the sheet by the entrance in order to be seated. You enter a namez how many are in the party, and if you prefer indoor or outdoor seating. We both got the spicy miso ramen, it was perfect. The noodles were plump and bouncy, and the broth was delicous. We also got the homemade gyoza and karaage which were both tasty.

  • 4/5 Northern E. 11 months ago on Google
Got my ramen late so it's not piping hot. Maybe the staff slacked, IDK. They have a handful of servers and it's not busy, so I'm not sure why mine took so long. The black garlic sauce kinda masked the taste of the broth so I can't tell if the broth is good or not. Overall, it's OK. The kitchen staff aren't Japanese so I'm already suspicious of how the taste is going to turn out. In the end, I think I'm going to give it a second chance to be extremely fair.

  • 4/5 Lienne P. 8 months ago on Google
We got here right when they opened in a holiday morning. The service was quick and the ramen was delicious. I'm actually surprised people will line up for hours for the food, though. It's tasty, but I'm sure there are so many options in Little Tokyo with shorter waits.

  • 5/5 Dawn 8 months ago on Google
Delicious ramen that was well worth the wait. We were a party of 5, and got there around 2:00. Three or four groups in front of us, but we waited maybe 10 minutes to get a table. Inside is small but goes pretty far back, the kitchen served food very quickly and staff was friendly. Excellent atmosphere.

Wow! Their basic ramen with rich soup is amazing! There was a ramen place (not the famous chain store) in NY with such rich soup(meat crumbs floating in the soup) but is closed years ago. I've been trying to find this kind of soup wherever I go but most of the ramen store only make very plain soup even they say it's "rich". However, the rich soup here is real, I'm so glad that I found another ramen place to enjoy. Oh, did I just talk about their soup all the time? There topping is also great, the chashu is so tasety. I added a butter topping, it makes the soup less salty but more sweet, and I think the soup is rich enough without the butter.

  • 5/5 Sylvie B. 9 months ago on Google
Aside of my aunt’s homemade cooking this was the best meal in LA. The bowls were large, so we couldn’t finish but they were so good!!! We got the pork and eel. Soup and salad was great and the pickles too! Yummy raspberry and green ice teas as well, great price for the amount of food. Come hungry!

  • 4/5 Nora Z. 1 year ago on Google
Best ramen in little Tokyo. Always a line but worth the wait. Super efficient service, we got our food within 5 min after placing the order. Love the rich broth!

I have never been to Japan, but everything about Daikokuya made me feel like I was in Japan. In the heart of Japantown, the atmosphere is very Japanese, from the seating to the Japanese music in the background to the delicious smell of the ramen. The ramen is impeccable! One of the best ramen I ever had. Broth super tasty, noodles were nice and soft, the chashu on point! I always get a chicken karaage with my ramen and they were delicious and juicy. If you have not tried this place, it. Is. A. Must!

  • 5/5 Victor J. 1 year ago on Google
Best ramen in LA I’ve had so far, and my first time having sushi (spicy tuna roll). Dining atmosphere is great, very retro-Japan, although the dining room is a bit cramped. Be prepared to wait awhile for a table, or give up all your elbow space sitting at the bar.

  • 5/5 Armando G. 1 year ago on Google
The cold noodle salad is sooo good. The portion was huge enough for leftovers. It has Black Forest ham, noodles, tomato, eggs, bean sprouts, cucumber, and other items. I asked for the sesame dressing and the salad exploded with flavor. A must stop place. Service is fast and friendly.

  • 5/5 Jada N. 1 year ago on Google
This place was so delicious. Ordered the daikokuya ramen and spicy ramen. Both surprisingly taste so different! Chicken Karaage and takoyaki were delicious as well! Will definitely go again! We did wait a long time, definitely expect to wait in line, make sure to sign in and park somewhere either in the parking garage or on the streets if lucky.

Delicious food. Feels like u step into a little shop in Japan. Found a public parking structure nearby and just walked. No parking validation. Restrooms only for customers.
