Ive been dropping in here every year for at least 6 or 7 years now when we vacation in Maui and I always look forward to it! Paul is an excellent coach and runs a tight ship. The programming is dynamic, the gym is clean and tidy, and the members are always warm and friendly. If youre looking for a good work out, this is your place!

We had a week drop in at the gym and had a very pleasant experience. The coaches were very welcoming in getting us set up and the members were friendly. We went to a couple of group classes and used the open gym hours- we’d come back here again when we’re in town, but also view it as a great place to workout and would probably be members there if we were local. What an incredibly special place. My husband and I were vacationing in Maui and decided to drop in for a CrossFit class while we were away from our home CrossFit box, we ended up going every day of our week on the island and it was SO hard to leave! The coaching and people here are phenomenal, you are welcomed and treated like Ohana (family) from the moment you arrive and will leave better than when you came, I saw visible improvements in several skills this week! Coach Paul and every single person here are top notch, loved the programming and grateful for the sweaty and competitive fun this week! Missing you already, Makena fam. We will 100% be back! My partner and I visited Maui for 8 days. We walked into Makena and were welcomed by Paul, the owner. He gave us options on either drop ins, class passes or weekly pass and we decided to sign up for the whole week. The classes were fun & the other athletes were really welcoming. We never felt like outsiders and felt more comfortable than in any other gym we’ve dropped in at. We learned a lot in a week there and we both hit a PR on our power clean. We will miss working out at Makena and will definitely come back and visit them all sometimes soon again.

This gym is awesome. Here for the week for vacation and been dropping in at 6am class. Paul is a terrific coach and the class is very welcoming to visitors. The setup is perfect old school CrossFit. Highly recommend to anyone in town.

Went to Makena CrossFit for an 8am class. Easy to register & pay online so no need to fill out anything when you get there. We were greeted by Paul, the owner, who was also the coach. While the class wasn’t too crowded, there was a good amount of space with the garage doors open to row in the beautiful Maui outdoors. The workout was a good challenging 20 minute cardio and strength effort. Paul went over all of the movements beforehand although most were self explanatory. Good t-shirts and hats afterward. I would definitely recommend if you’re in Kihei or anywhere else in Maui!

The best energy, culture & coaching!!! It’s the human factor that makes all the difference! The breeze, infrared sauna, free local organic coffee, and the high ceilings are also wonderful. Come see for yourself.

Paul and the crew at makena CrossFit are the real deal - always welcoming and friendly, these people have it absolutely dialed. Oh and be prepared to work HARD! Top notch programming and coaching, amazing pro shop…the list goes on. Nowhere else I’d even consider training when I’m lucky enough to be on maui. See you guys soon! 🤙🏽

Dropped in at Makena Crossfit on a recent vacation and had a wonderful experience! Coach Reilly (spelling?) was really awesome - great balance of welcoming and also challenged attendees appropriately. She gave great tips and managed the class time really well. Thanks to her encouragement I ran the mile faster than I have in my whole life :) . The staff & members were very laid back, friendly and welcoming (for all fitness levels). The space is small but they made it work! I would definitely drop in again on future visits to the island.

I love this gym! I visited most CrossFit gyms in Maui, and this one, in my opinion, is the best. It’s clean, neat, and in a safe area, with lots of space outside to run and plenty of excellent quality equipment inside. Sauna, shower, and towel service inside. Parking is easy to find. The members are super friendly and welcoming, and the coaches are top-notch. Also, there is fantastic merchandise. If you live in Maui or are on vacation looking for a place to improve or maintain your fitness, look no further!

My husband and I signed up for a week pass to this gym on our honeymoon. It felt like our home away from home. We felt so welcome, and the workouts led by the owner, Coach Paul, and the guest coaches from Denmark were fantastic. The community is tight and the vibes are great. We would definitely recommend this as a drop-in gym, or a home gym for those lucky enough to live on the island.

When my husband and I moved to the island during lockdown, we needed to find a “community”. We found The Gym Maui + Makena CrossFit and immediately felt like we “belonged”. Paul (the owner) and his staff instructors helped custom tailor our workouts, while the support from others in class cheered us on, even when we’re not the fastest, strongest or fittest. We love that we can find a class time that works with our ever-changing schedules. If you want a “community” that will allow you to learn at your pace, you’ll find it here!

We love visiting new CrossFit gyms when we travel, and I can’t recommend Makena CrossFit enough. You’ll feel welcomed from the moment you step into the gym. Great coaching focused on movement quality and consistency over intensity. As a physio and CF-L1, love how Paul is running things. We even brought my father-in-law to his first class here!

Awesome gym with great Owner (Paul) and welcoming members. Not only can you take a CrossFit class but they have a full globo gym as well. They you can drop in and take class or you can do your own thing as well. Highly recommended (this is coming from another affiliate owner). Mahalo!

I can’t say enough great things about this gym! I went here for the first time 6 years ago during my first trip to Maui, and now it’s the thing I look forward to the most every time I come back! This place has the best vibes; chill and relaxed but still a competitive feel if you want it. Paul, the gym owner and coach, will be your biggest fan during your workout, and become your best friend on the island. Love this place!!

Excellent gym with many options! My family and I dropped in here while on vacation and loved it. We were able to take a CrossFit class coached by Paul. He offered great coaching and encouragement throughout, making us feel welcome and supported the moment we stepped inside. The members were all really welcoming and made us feel right at home. Our 7 month old was able to join us which was a huge plus! (Of course, he needed to stay in his stroller for safety which was no problem at all) If CrossFit isn’t your thing, this gym also has plenty of free weights and machines as well as cardio equipment. It really has it all. We will definitely make this our fitness home away from home next time we’re on Maui. Mahalo!

My favourite gym on Maui and by far my favourite coach on Earth! Beautiful open gym and amazing crew of athletes. I love the energy at this place and wouldn’t dream of another place to workout.

I just joined for the first time and have fallen in love with Makena CrossFit! You are immediately welcomed by the team when you show up for a class! Coach P is extremely encouraging and helpful especially when it comes to learning new skills. The environment of the group is contagious with everyone encouraging and pushing each other. I first came to Makena 3 years ago and had the BEST TIME! The community was so friendly and welcoming and Paul made the box feel like my home away from home! So much so, that 3 years later, I came back and stayed for a month! Everyone at Makena and The Gym is awesome! They care deeply about members and visitors alike. The workouts were great and the vibe is always rockin in there! I have recommended the gym TO EVERYONE THAT GOES TO MAUI! Absolutely love this place! Staff is great, it’s big and roomy. I never have to wait for equipment to use. Other members are very polite and are respectful of space and time. I have been a member here for a few years now. I can’t imagine going to any other gym after this one. This place feels like home. They genuinely care about you and make you feel welcome!
