One of the most beautiful and unusual places I have visited! The sunset 🌅 on the volcano summit next to the observatory, is an amazing experience. The drive to the summit is very picturesque and is definitely worth it! Bring something warm to wear, it gets cold up there 🌋

Elevation of 10,023 feet or 3,055 meters in the beautiful island of Maui. The surrounding landscape seems like a different planet, not the familiar mother earth. Lava rocks, thin air, wind smell, unique plant, lack of human-generated noise; each of of them contributes and forms a hard-to-describe experience.

Currently it's not open, but the view of the surrounding area is awesome. The elevation is so high>10k feet , you could see the clouds below you and a view of the downtown Maui as well as the neighboring big island of Hawaii. Amazing experience to visit this national park.

This place is a must visit if you are in Maui. I highly recommend you bring at least a hoodie. It just gets really cold up there. Other than spectacular views of the clouds and the sunset or sun rise. (Note you need reservations for sunrise). Again a must visit.

We did the sea-to-summit hike and man, was the summit worth it! The observatory and the sea of clouds around it are gorgeous, as is the sun as it sets above it all. The views on a clear day are breath taking all the way up the mountain. Bring a jacket; it's cold at the top!

There is an admission fee to this national park. The park is well maintained and very clean. You need to make a reservation to come early to watch the sunrise. You do not need a reservation during regular hours. Note: there is no food or gas for sale. Due to the high elevation, breathing can be a little difficult. There are two visitor centers, both have restrooms.

We went for the less popular sunset. It was breathtaking to see the view above the clouds. Super cold though. I felt chilli even with the puffer jacket.

Maui Space Surveillance Complex belonging to the US Air Force, which monitors in real time all more than 8,000 man-made objects moving in near space.

Once you navigate the winding road, you come up to the Haleakala summit and the breathtaking views as you walk amongst the clouds. We arrived about an hour before sunset, found a nice parking spot at the visitor area and settled in for a beautiful sunset. The temperature was definitely colder than our beach house but nothing uncomfortable but I would recommend a jacket. Also be aware that you are entering a national park, and the fee is $30 per car and the wait may delay your arrival to the top, which is another 30 min past the ranger station.

This was by far the most spectacular sunset I have ever seen in my life. I would highly recommend going at sunset and waiting until the sun goes away(about an hour) to see the stars. The start show we got after was such a beautiful sight to see and everything about being up there in the evening was perfect. I have not yet seen a sunrise there but the sunset was perfect without having to get a reservation or dealt with hoards of people

Bring some gum, your ears will pop several times on the drive up and down! But more important and this I wish I could submit to @googlemaps IF YOU WANT TO WATCH THE SUNRISE YOU MUST MAKE A RESERVATION WITH THE PARK ONLINE 3 OR MORE DAYS IN ADVANCE! I went to watch the sunrise, woke up at 4am drove all the way to the park gate had my card ready to pay the 30$ entry fee and was asked if I had made a reservation. I had not and was asked to turn around. While the sunrise was still enjoyable. I would have enjoyed it more from the summit instead of the parking area on the west side of the mountain.

Beautiful view! Clouds engulfed the mountain, Making the sun rise look like something out of this world. Must see as photos do not do it justice.

If you decide to visit this location be certain that you dress warm enough as it was freezing with the wind chill. The overall experience was amazing and certainly worth the long trip.

Well it is not open to the public but the view around it is amazing. You can barely see the observatory from in the valley and it was cool to see it up close.
