It will be 6 weeks this semester (Spring 2019) before CSCC releases financial aid refunds. I cannot believe they get away with this! OSU is 9 days after the start of the semester! Some people rely on these excess funds to survive another semester of school! This should be illegal and I’m pretty sure it is because according to federal financial aid funds are to be released up to a max of 14 days after the start of a semester! Insane to make people wait 6 weeks+ to receive their refund. Also, parking is obnoxious here any time of day. It also seems to me that each department does not have a good linear structure of teaching so each professor is just kind of doing their own thing whichever way they feel like doing it. Some classes are too long some are too short. It really feels like no one is in control here it’s just a free for all I guess. Employees are not friendly in any way shape or form. Honestly the only good thing about this school is how cheap it is. “You get what you pay for.” 🤷‍♂️

I wish I could post 0 stars. This place absolutely sucked the life and determination out of me. GOING TO COLUMBUS STATE WAS BY FAR THE WORST ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. There is not very much else that they could have done wrong. The staff that handles paperwork, general questions, etc. was incredibly incompetent and usually rude with a few exceptions. Recently, they have been hassling me over the $1.00 that I apparently owe financial aid. I turned in one paper required for Financial Aid 5 times, each time with the worker guaranteeing it would be my last time. The same happened with an “unusual enrollment” form but I only turned this one in 3 times before I gave up. Despite turning in these documents repeatedly, they continue to ask for them as if I never turned anything in. Good luck trying to call in because your issue won’t get solved and it takes at least 30 minutes for a phone call to be answered. The actual class environments weren’t horrible but professors almost never respond to emails (my online class professor never responded to anything) and never really believe any excuses you have even if legitimate. The cherry on the top is the fact that despite the advisors saying all my classes would transfer over, one did not. If you want to save your money while still getting a decent education, go to a branch campus. All classes actually will transfer over and the educational experience will be far better than it would at Columbus State. Going to a branch campus is even worth having to rent an apartment. I have been to multiple small, private colleges, I’m at OSU, and I have been to Columbus State. Columbus State has set me back in my education and I wish I would not have wasted my money and time on a school that seems to not spend money or time on me.

I have spent thousands of dollars a here and the entire learning experience has been difficult- everything from initial orientation to registration. There is no one who can assist along the way, the faculty put barriers in their own way as well as frequent personnel changes that leave people unaware of what or where to go. I am paying full price, no loans, no grants and am astonished at how not one person can communicate where to easily find my basic answers. I keep getting the - that had been updated- they have a new name, I think...- I can't talk to you because you aren't the student - I just want to know how to find an academic advisor. I physically went in the Westerville location, they were polite and after a few weeks of working with different people from the downtown Columbus location, they couldn't get an answer. It is no wonder this place is in the state it is - there is zero accountability or ownership.

I have enjoyed Columbus State and majority of the people I’ve met here while on track to my BA but this college needs some serious restructuring. The biggest thing I wish Cstate would look into is their faculty. When I go to ratemyprofessor.com and see many of them at a 1 to 2 star rating, that concerns me. I have personally had good and bad professors here and majority of the good ones were adjunct professors, the bad ended up being tenured faculty. I wish the college would look into the gripes students have and start to question whether or not they should be hiring adjunct professors to replace them. The only other major issue I’ve had is from advisors. The point of the advisor is to advise the student on their education path, but when I have a genuine question or concern, interrupting/having a snarky attitude doesn’t come off as professional to me. One last thing, please talk with the finance department about putting a budget together for another parking garage. I don’t go during peak hours anymore but when I did parking was atrocious. Pros -cheap -effective (sometimes) -some great professors Cons -unprofessional faculty at times -parking -communication from faculty

Well, if you're looking to get some course credits for a better university, this is your place. Otherwise, stay as far away from this institution as possible. No coordination, lack of attention to billing, scheduling, and general communication. Trying to find someone to talk with is near impossible. This school is interested in your money but not your experience. In fact, they will drag their feet through the mud, making you wait for nothing because they can not offer you anything except credits for other institutions. The faculty and staff seem to be run down, depressed, uninterested in your journey. The overall environment and feel of this institution is sub-par and has a lack-luster appearance with its employees. Shop around it's your future, not theirs.

I got my associates through Columbus state community college. Recently I went back to take some additional classes to work towards my bachelors. I was taking trigonometry and and about a month and a week end of the semester I realized this instructor is very uncompetent she's being corrected by the students on a daily basisAnd she's getting details on notes wrong that we are studied studied and not telling us until a week later when we've been studying incorrect material. This isn't the 1st time this has happened with Columbus state sadly they are one of the cheaper schools but you get what you pay for. I actually got a refund for a chemistry course for this reason. I'm currently working on getting a refund for this semester because I'm paying out a pocket. And I have a lot more math to take after this and I need a competent instructor that can actually teach the information and be correct.

I’m a new student here but I have had such a pleasant experience with CSCC so far. Everyone I have called has been extremely friendly and helpful. All my transfer credits were evaluated very fast. This has been the smoothest transition to starting at a new college I’ve ever experienced. I’m excited to see how my first semester goes.

I'm in my last semester as a Computer Science: Software Development major. In the time that I have been there I've found that Columbus State has been one of the better institutions to attend. There are some flaws, such as changing courses without full ideas on how to implement the new course, but overall the experience has been great. I've spent less on tuition/books than at Franklin or DeVry. The advisers have always been extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions I had. All but a couple teachers have been wonderful and supportive. The school constantly has activities going, including a weekly newsletter letting everyone know of what's going on. Overall, I would recommend anyone get their 2 year degree here before moving on to a 4 year institution. Save the money and still get a good education.

I love Columbus State and this is why: Before Columbus State: Growing up, I was never interested in the information taught in school, because I did not feel like it was applicable to the real world. After a year at a private college, I was originally apprehensive to restart college at any college. I was also scared of a community college. I grew up in Michigan, and I felt like our local community colleges had negative stigmas attached to them. Luckily, my older brother took me into the application office in Delaware, OH to take the entrance exam. I believe I tested out of an english and/or a math class. While at Columbus State: I would like to note that I always attended C-State as I held a part time job (10-20 hours a week). I originally attended an EMT-B class at Columbus State. The class was more challenging than I had anticipated and was pretty time consuming. I received a B in this course, but found employment immediately in the field and felt confident in my skills. A year later, I returned to C-State with the desires to go to nursing school. Thanks to ample meetings with advisors in Health and Human Services, I decided to take some prerequisite nursing classes as there was a waiting list to apply for their nursing program (while I worked part time as an EMT-B). During this year, I found more confidence in my work and studies, feelings of support and encouragement from staff, and rewards from hard work. I was also able to sign up easily for academic accommodations for the first time in my life! I loved my time at Columbus State within this year! I never thought I would love school or receive my first 4.0 GPA in the spring and summer semesters. For the first time, school finally felt fulfilling for me. After Attending Columbus State: I decided to leave C-State after a full academic year, and I pursued a BSN degree through another local school. I often look back at my time at C-State and regret that I did not take more classes here while saving a decent amount of money! I would suggest night classes if you are willing and able. I found that students were more likely to be hard working, more mature, disciplined, and also employed. I also found professors who taught night classes were often from OSU and more understanding. Generally my teachers were all very competent, funny, and held experience in the world. The only negative experience that I found was dealing with C-Stat's Police department staff and accessing their gym/locker room. Students must sign up manually for the gym locker rooms every semester at C-State's Police department and then wait for several days for your card to be accepted from security/police. This system seems dated and non-productive. I feel like this process should be easily automated. This issue led to a negative experience I had with a police officer that identified as Sergeant Diamond. I felt like this officer escalated my personal situation while being disrespectful and patronizing. Another time I was eating a meal in my car between classes when a police car pulled up to me and asked why I was parked between two spots in an empty parking lot and then asked me to pick a spot. I'm sure the police department deals with things they don't want to. I could have been lucky and experienced two poor attitudes on hard days, but I do not feel like the police department is fulfilling their mission that states they want to provide "exceptional customer service" for their students based on my only two experiences with them. I would take a look at how the police staff is trained at C-State.

Horrible. Simply horrible. I did two years here and at the end I walked across the stage and was handed and empty packet. They said the actual diploma was shipped after the commencement. I graduated with all As and met the requirements to be there for an associates degree. It’s currently February of 2023 and I’ve reached out for a replacement from parchment and they said i have never attended the school. How? I’m currently at Ohio state pursuing a bachelors degree. It’s nearly impossible to really talk to anyone who can help with this situation.

I am a former employee and student of CSCC and I can tell you that I was happy in both roles on campus. Very friendly and inviting campus. I grew a lot as a person and professional here. I credit this campus for helping me reach my potential and the experiences I gained here are priceless. I am a huge advocate for anyone coming out of high school to begin their college career at a slower paced, lower cost, community college such as CSCC. It will definitely help with the transition from high schooler to college adult. There are always partnerships between CSCC and other major universities, especially here in Central Ohio so after completing your 2 years degree it's far easier to transfer to a 4 year university. Overall great school and I highly recommend it.

Wanted to write this review so anyone who’s thinking of coming here is aware on how you’ll be treated at times. If you have to deal with the health department they will treat you like scum! I can’t even explain it, it’s like as soon as you walk into their office you’re no longer human anymore! Anyways I had a question about two emails that I received that was confusing to me in regards to the health department. Now you can’t ask your teachers or your advisors because the first thing they’ll tell you is “oh we don’t deal with the health department you have to go directly to tm.”Okay that’s fine! So I did just that! I walked into their health department in regards to a question about that confusing email. I encountered a worker and explained to her that I was confused about the two emails that I had received and ask for clarification and just wanted to make sure I did everything right on my end because it didn't make sense to me. This worker was unwilling to answer my question, laughed occasionally, and repeatedly stated "didn't you read it? You don't understand what it's saying? It's telling you right there!" After informing her that I did not understand and was seeking clarification this female worker still refused to answer my question, and not only refused to help me but also laughed occasionally! It is absurd and frustrating when you are PAYING to be a student at CSCC and a worker won’t explain an email and tells you to basically read it for yourself lol C’mon Columbus state!!! Do better! I recently filled out a complaint form so we’ll see if someone actually get back in touch but I won’t keep my fingers crossed! Lol something tells me that if she’s allowed to treat students like this, they probably don’t care to follow up. Such a shame!

I loved this school, had four straight semesters with A+ grades, then last semester I was ghosted by the teacher and forced by the schools administration to pay for the class. Thanks!

I recently had the opportunity to explore Columbus State Community College (CSCC), and my experience was overwhelmingly positive. The campus strikes a perfect balance between being lively and offering quiet spaces for study and reflection. One of the highlights for me was the quality of instruction; the professors are knowledgeable and genuinely invested in student success. The college's facilities, including fast internet, a great cafe, and well-maintained heating and cooling systems, make the academic environment comfortable and conducive to learning. I was particularly impressed with the diversity and vibrancy of student life, which is a testament to CSCC's inclusive culture. Its proximity to Ohio State University is a significant advantage, offering ease of transfer for those looking to continue their education. Moreover, the diverse student population, including many younger students, adds to the dynamic atmosphere of the campus. While there are areas that can be cold at times, it's a minor issue compared to the overall experience. CSCC's location in Columbus, Ohio, is a huge plus, providing students with ample opportunities both on and off-campus.Overall, CSCC stands out as an excellent institution for higher learning, blending academic rigor with a supportive and diverse community. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comprehensive college experience.

THEY ABSOLUTELY DISCRIMINATE BASED ON AGE, RACE AND IDEOLOGY. THIS IS THE ANTI SCHOOL. THEY ARE DUMBING DOWN EVERY STUDENT THAT COMES THROUGH THERE AND THEY EVEN GET PAID TO DO IT.

Instructional quality could occasionally be better but most of my experience with that is in the past. I have been in and out of here for a long time; as a non traditional student that’s just how it goes sometimes. I finally got on the right track and I’m enjoying it a lot; have only had good professors so far. I’m transferring to OSU after my AA but I’ll take as many classes here as I can. Of course it doesn’t have all of the frills of a big university but it’s a small, simple, easy-to-navigate campus and the class sizes are great.
