My grandmother was there for a little over two weeks. The Physical and Occupational therapist are excellent. Their therapy room is great. Their staff is sub-par at best. There seems to be a huge difference in the weekday staff and the weekend staff. If my family grandma requested something before shift change, nothing would be done - only ignored. The first day there, my grandma was wheeled into a room and left there for two hours without anyone trying to get her into bed or help her in any way. Finally she called me in tears because she wanted to lie down, but was unable to get out of the wheelchair without assistance. The food is gross. They forgot to feed her dinner one night, and then brought her two old peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with no explanation as to why they didn't bring her dinner. Thankfully I live nearby and have been able to bring her food at least once a day. My grandma kept up with the times her pain medication was to be dispensed. There were several times the staff insisted she was given her pain mediation when she knew she had not been, because she had not yet gone to sleep. Seems that there may be some opioid thieves working there. The facility is clean, and the majority of the staff is friendly - though I have heard some very rude ones while on the phone with my grandma. If she ever has to go back to a rehab facility, it will not be to this place.

My elderly mother was sent to this facility to recover after she had a bad fall that broke her hip. I did not choose this place; my sister-in-law did. The facility appeared clean and tidy, and there were many areas for social interaction, but I never saw anyone using them (pre-Covid). So at first it seemed like a decent place. However, that’s all a facade. Don’t be fooled by the facility tour. Bad people work here. Once they’ve got your loved one that’s when the neglect begins. This place is horribly run, and many on staff are uncaring and unsuited to their jobs. They’ll stand around the nurse’s station gabbing while patients are literally crying for assistance. I saw this myself and it was so unsettling, but to move my mom, who was in terrible pain from her hip surgery, to another facility at that time seemed nearly impossible. On many visits, my daughter and I would find my mom with an empty water container, and we’d have to refill it ourselves because no nurse would ever come. This was a chronic problem, the lack of water for her. The staff is just so negligent. My mom developed terrible bed sores here on the heels of her feet from being in bed so much. I’d never seen anything like that before. The meals were disgusting. I saw many of the dinners and it is heavy Southern food not suitable for frail recovering patients. It all looked like slop. There was no choice, no variety, and my mother who typically would eat very light meals could not tolerate it and barely ate anything. We would hear other patients yelling out. There was one window in her room that looked out to nothing. The room was large with a private bathroom but it was such a depressing place and she was bedridden. We had hope of her recovery in the beginning, but she steadily declined after a month here and sadly, she died here. It made me incredibly sad that my mother’s last days were spent here in this awful place. Please don’t put your loved one here. Don’t be fooled by the building and its spacious-looking rooms. What’s most important is the way it’s run and the staff, and this place is run badly, cheaply, and the much of the staff is bottom-rung and heartless.

Worst staff and facility ever. Just recently, my relative had no pants on during his visit which is UNACCEPTABLE! They said they couldn’t find his 8 to 11 pairs of pants. They cut his mustache and hair to a military haircut without his permission or the family’s permission. The clothes (shirt and jacket) that he had on during his visit with family were on the floor instead of hung up. If Universal Healthcare of Fuquay Varina only allows the family to see their relative (patient at the facility) once a week, and the staff do not do their job on the day of the visit, how are the staff treating my relative on the other 6 days? This staff at the facility places the blame on each other. No one owns up to their wrong. The staff are very disorganized. The staff show they don’t care about the patient’s dignity and mental health. They need to treat the patients like the patients are their loved ones. Seniors are valued and valuable. They are not to be taken for granted and they are not to be treated like animals.

My husband has been at Universal for 2 weeks now. We have found the facility clean, attractive and competent. Additionally, the staff as well as the residents are super friendly and helpful. We are very pleased with our experience there.

I have been working at UCH-Fuquay for a year. I have worked hard, along with my fellow team members, to make a major turn around in this facility- for the better. Our administrator is amazing and only allows the most compassionate of workers to care for our folks. Each resident is unique and has captured my heart... I look forward to serving and caring for them every day!

I've been working here at UHC in Fuquay since July of 2021. And to sum up my thoughts here at UHC is this: Every facility has room for improvement. And I can honestly say that every staff member is working hard to implement better service with the upmost care and respect, not only to our residents, but our fellow co workers as well. Me personally I view everyone here as FAMILY!! And we look after our family!! What ever problems or issues arise, we discuss them and proceed to make better changes. It's easy to abandon ship when there are holes in it, but wouldn't it be better to patch those holes to save everyone on board? In other words, we are all in this together and it's going to take TEAM WORK to get the job done!! So please bare with us as we make these changes and give us the opportunity to prove ourselves that we can make this work!! God Bless you all and we look forward to seeing you.

If you care for your loved one do not place them in here. My step dad deteriorated within 24 hrs after admittance. He was transpoted and dropped off alone in a hospital gown completely incoherent at a Dr's office. I went and immediately took him to a hospital. They lost his personal belongings. His treatment was inhumane. He was neglected terribly. This place is awful. Do not take your loved one here.

My mother had to go to Universal healthcare after a fall. I would not recommend this facility. The administration Don and the director of nursing Nelson have no business running the place, when I spoke with them about my concerns it was like talking to a brick wall and they never got back to me. There are many staff members that are employed there that could run circles around them. My mom had some awesome people caring for her on some days that really care about the patients but they are worked to death without the communication and support needed. It isn’t fair to them because they do their job while others don’t. I also had the understanding that my mom was going to be fed and that didn’t happen so I had to pay someone to come in and do it. And as far as being checked on every 2 to 21/2 hours you may as well forget it. It broke my heart to see how some people that work there don’t care!

My 99 year old Mother spent a week at this facility at the end of May this year. She had fractured her shoulder and was sent here for rehab. The level of neglect in this facility is outrageous. Do not put a loved one in this facility. These are not caring people . I had to take her out of this facility early and hire help to care for her at home!

I have been working at UHC in Fuquay-Varina for almost a year now and love it! The residents are friendly, and the staff have been very supportive. We truly love our residents. I feel like the resident care and interaction at UHC-FV is comparable to simple southern living with a warm Carolina charm. Hugs, smiles, and laughter all around!

I am a traveling nurse from Nebraska, and I have worked in 5 star facilities down to 2 stars. Universal in Fuquay-Varina is by far 1 of my favorites to date. Yes, there is a need for change, growth, and improvement. This is what health care is, a continual need for growth, change, knowledge, and education in an ever changing world. The Administration, Nursing, and Staff are all Moving Forward to provide a Continuum of care. Our Goal is to provide Quality patient Care and Teamwork. As Healthcare workers we Value each patient and their family. It is our goal to provide the best care and Make a Difference in each patient’s lives. So they can return home to their families, maintain their health and have quality of life. The Therapy team is one of the best I have seen. The Medical Director, Dr Konduru and his NP, Janet are available 24/7. The Administrator John, Director of Nursing Sharon and Assistant Director of Nursing, Jennifer all work long hours to manage the facility to Improve to meet the Needs, and Concerns of the community. And this is why I am still at the Facility. To be part of a Team that wants to provide Safe, Skilled, Knowledgeable care to patients and families to Make A Difference at Universal Healthcare in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Terrible, awful, disgusting…Just a few words to describe this facility. The residents are ignored by the staff when they use their call bells for assistance. The food is God-awful and both of their personal in charge of the kitchen walked out. Consistent frequent turnover of nurses, etc. If you’re looking for a peaceful and competent place for your family member, don’t walk…RUN from this facility! Nobody knows their job here!

Was any family members of relatives at the facility on Saturday 9/10 evening meal? My loved one received their plate and it was very very scarce having beef stew one roll a cup of ice cream and tea the other 3 residents at our table their plates appeared very minimized as well; I did see a staff member take two additional styofoam plates over to one resident and give them two additional servings does anyone know if this is an isolated incident with so little food being on the residents plates just had never seen this before

Terrible experience at this facility. Do not let the exterior and first impression fool you. If your loved one cannot speak for themselves do not choose this facility. We chose this facility for our loved one and had nothing but problems. Her care was not met and had to report to the state after no resolution from department heads. Facility was found not meeting her care. I don't want anyone to experience what we went through.

👍👍 Rebecca is amazing! I came in with a lot of doubts. After the first appointment, she instilled confidence in me and the program. Now I’m back to where I was and even better in a lot of ways. I highly recommend Rebecca and Back in Action as an environment!
