This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Athens. Everything is so tasty, you cannot restraint yourself from having all of the dishes. From the fish to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. If only we had more people so we could try more dishes. The eggplant with feta cheese is a must have. And the very fresh milling fish with some lemon touch was AMAZING. it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And at the end we were treated with the most amazing Greek yogurt with honey as dessert. It truly felt like heaven. I cannot recommend this place enough!

We had the most welcoming and delicious experience here! Authentic homemade Greek food, we had trouble choosing bc we wanted to try everything. They accommodated us by letting us take half portions of some dishes (as well as to-go boxes for what we couldn’t finish) and also gave us a Greek yogurt dessert on the house :) thank you very much for your hospitality! Would recommend to anyone!

Great little Greek Cafe within walking distance of the Intercontinental Hotel. Around 10 minutes away. The concierge recommended it and it was highly rated online. It was founded by some friends and feels like you’really getting homemade food cooked around a neighbors kitchen. We were not very hungry so we only ordered a few items. I had the moussaka which was very good. Lots of meat and great flavor. My wife got the shrimps over French fries instead of the salad it comes with. We also added an order of rustic bread that was toasted, nicely seasoned and sprinkled with olive oil. They bring everyone a complimentary dessert which was green yogurt with honey. I ordered a Coke Zero and the order came to €30. I would go back.

We saw this featured on a YouTube channel and the food truly was excellent. The daily specials are definitely worth trying- the bean dish was amazing (could eat that every day), excellent smokey eggplant dip, grilled pork and fish. The best meal we've had in Greece.

A family own restaurant that has been running for 12 years. The food was amazing: grilled calamari, greek salad and the grilled beef deserves a chef’s kiss. We didn’t regret that chose this restaurant after our hike up the Acropolis Hill. Plus points was that the staff was so friendly and accommodating. PS: the grilled beef was humongous and was totally worth it.

Came here as a recommendation from Mark Weins. Walked out especially into the area to try it out and we were very impressed. We ordered several dishes and each one of them were perfectly executed. We ordered the bread with spicy dip, the musaka, meatballs, and Greek salad and half litre wine. Besides the food, the highlight for us was the welcoming nature of the owner. He walked us through the specials, helped us with our order to make sure the food complimented each other and that we didn’t over-order. You could tell he prioritised our experience over making a sale - which we really appreciated. If we had more time in Athens we would have definitely gone back! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and kindness. As for the food, it was a true Greek culinary delight. We indulged in delectable dishes such as eggplant, mushrooms, beautifully charcoal-grilled bread, and an unforgettable Greek salad. The quality of the food matched the warmth of our hosts, and the prices were very reasonable. We couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. Came here at the recommendation of a Greek friend. The food was superb. We had a prawn risotto and grilled meatballs- served with no pretensions. House wine too was so smooth and went down so smoothly. Do give it a try

This restaurant is phenomenal. The service and the people there are very nice. The food is just a different story. It’s my first time trying Greek food and it got me hooked. It taste so good that you don’t want to stop eating even when you’re full. I’ll definitely go there again during my stay.

This unassuming restaurant has been my first stop for food in Athens. AMAZING!! The food is so flavorful and the service is fantastic. There are many vegetarian choices. The food tastes very homemade and nutritious. We had tzatziki, tirokafteri (both dips), kolokitakoftades (fried zuccini balls), baked eggplant with feta, bread (yummm) .. the food was more than enough much for 2 ppl and cost 23 euros. This place is a catch!

Absolutely amazing place for authentic Greek food in Athens. It is near the touristy area, so it is definitely in a quieter area which we liked. The family who runs this place is so warm and welcoming! All of the food was delicious, and we loved the house wine as well. They give a complimentary dessert at the end, which was a perfect way to end the dinner.

SO good. The owner was incredibly welcoming and kind. He showed us the daily specials and took the time to chat with us before and after we ate. Even showed us a video of how he made the artichoke dish. We had the spicy feta dip, the artichoke special, and the kebabs. It was all delicious. 100% recommend and will definitely be coming back.

Great, friendly staff and nice dining room. We were shown some off menu hot items they had before being seated and given the menu. The moussaka and rice with veggies sprinkled with feta cheese from the off menu display were so flavorful as were the pork fillet and eggplant dip from the menu. Awesome baklava and little ice cream bars for dessert. Highly recommend - it's what I would imagine homemade Greek food would be like!

Delicious food, VERY attentive service. The lady went out of her way to make sure that we are being taken care of and that we liked the food. Absolutely recommended. Huge plus that they respected COVID rules and checked our certificates. LOVED IT!

As an early evening solo dinner I felt very welcomed at this lovely local taverna. So many great dishes to choose but the stand out for me was the rustic bread with the fresh sardines (special catch of the day). Large portions but the lovely staff packaged up my leftover Greek salad to take back to the hotel. Really enjoyed my dinner here.

This will go down as one of our favorites. Very welcoming, honest people. Great recommendations and absolutely everything we ordered was so delicious. If the staff recommends a dish or a different dish for you, trust them and get it. Huge plus is this did not feel like a tourist trap. Definitely local vibes and we loved it. It’s not in the heavily touristy area for starters, and I think we were the only non regulars there. Cannot say enough good things about this place!

Now, I’ve never been to Greece. I saw this place on my Google map and thought we’d check it out. The food 🥘 is 5 star and amazing. The host is amazing and is the best host ever 5 star and the place is lovely 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I would like to go back to this place and eat food every evening if I could. Please check this place out if you can, you won’t be disappointed. I have never been to place where I have felt so taken care and treated so well and made welcome, hats 🎩 off to the owner this place is amazing. I highly recommend the eggplant dip. Really loved it. As i'm writing this after 2 weeks in greece, i can say it is among the better moussaka i had. Cant remember the other main dish we ordered, but probably grilled meat of some sort.

I visited Dio Dekares i Oka recently with my brother while I was in Athens for the Marathon. My brother who is pretty aware of the quality of the food and the service there recommended it highly. And with a good reason. I was speechless of the kindness, the hospitality (or philoxenia) of the owner and the staff and the incredibly delicious homemade food. I am a Greek, living overseas and whenever I am back to Greece I look for the best possible local places and Dio Dekares i Oka tick all the boxes! Give it a try and don’t skip anything from the menu!

This place was recommended to us by our AirBnB host, and we’re so glad we made it here for our final night in Athens! The food felt as authentic as it could get, and the staff made us feel so welcome - we especially loved that our vaccination status was checked on arrival, it made us feel safe. I couldn’t recommend the spicy feta dip highly enough! But it was all delicious.

We appreciate good local home-style cooking, and this place was exactly what we were looking for. All the dishes were well prepared, and the service was friendly and attentive. If you are in the Koukaki area and want to avoid the over-hyped touristy restaurants and enjoy traditional Greek cuisine at very reasonable prices , this is the place for you.

We arrived when they opened and got to see all the specials. The eggplant with feta was amazing! We also had bread and taziki sauce, fantastic- it had great flavor & is thicker than the ones in other countries, SO much better! The waiter was awesome, he brought everything at the right time. We ended with dessert and the digestive.

Our first proper Greek meal. Tue gentleman serving us was very nice and the food was great. The stuffed tomato and stuffed peppers were fantastic.

Second time here! First time was one year ago and this family owned place has not lost its touch. As before we experienced wonderful service and a friendly and homey environment. We had some AMAZING FOOD and hospitality. Pictured are some of today’s specials - chickpeas, beef in tomato sauce over pasta, cod with tomato sauce and pasticchio (lasagna), some toasted bread as well. Yet again a great experience, would return for a third time and more!

Absolutely beautiful traditional Greek food. The food was incredibly tasty. We got a wide selection and ate a lot. There was not anything left on the plates. We were welcoming parents over to Athens for the first time and it was the perfect welcome meal. Try and not go off the menu, instead I’d go for what’s cooked fresh on display as you go in and grab a few sides. Owners incredibly charming too. They accept card.

After checking out traditional Greek restaurants online in the local area, noticed the good reviews so headed down and had some amazing food. A warm welcome, good prices and thank you to the owners for looking after us.

Wonderful place with delicious authentic food at modest price. The eggplant special and the moussaka were fantastic, as was the 'tirokafteri' and the 'flutes with pasturma' . Super nice owners make you feel very welcome. Will definitely come again.

Came in late-November 2021. A professional establishment with the staff checking everyone's vaccination status. Mixalis and staff are extremely friendly and nice to chat with and explained everything well about the food/menu. Amazing lamb chops which we ordered two kilos and a bream/tsipoura. Yummy eggplant and freshly baked bread. What a wonderful dinner! And of course, a lovely dessert to cap the dinner! Blueberry jam over yogurt. I will definitely look to come here in my future Athens visit and you should too! Be sure to reserve in advance if you plan on coming. It will join your Athens adventure! I wish to come again had it not been for bad weather for a re-visit. Definitely, a friendly restaurant with delicious food and terrific service and certain that will be the case for you too!

Nice food and perfect warm welcome

Great little restaurant off the beaten track but worth a d-tour. They have a great menu but on top lots of daily specials. Value for money is the best we had in Athens (and is usually already pretty good). Service is exceptional they take lots of time to help selecte the right amount of food. Kids loved it as well. Try the grilled feta (spicy) and the mixed grilled vegetables as well as chefs eggplant. All great dishes. We are for little over 50 euro with 4 people. Absolute must if you like great Greek food!

This was my first time in Europe and Greece and I was so blown away by the food. The staff was helpful and safe and got to me very quickly while being super friendly. The lentil soup was unlike any other I've had with a wonderful tanginess and the moussaka was incredible. Absolutely 10/10 you must go while in Athens

Wonderful food, made us feel like family. We got mostly vegetarian items and they were fantastic. The owners really take pride in their food representing authentic Greek dishes from different regions. Since nettles are in season we got the boiled greens, Garbanzos and broad beans in tomato and a feta spread with the wonderful bread. We got one meat dish, the smoked pork with eggs which she recommended as very authentic southern Greek-- it was so good! And we had enough left over for lunch the next day. Really fun and a great experience.

We were looking for a family restaurant and might have found the best in Athens. The owner was lots of fun to talk to, everything was amazing, including the Kebab and Shrimp Saganaki, but best of all, the dessert at the end, with Greek Yogurt and honey was unbelievably light and delicious. Would definitely come back here whenever we come back to Athens and highly recommend it to everyone who wants real Greek and not touristy Greek.

Read the positive reviews on here and certainly wasn’t disappointed. Greek salad lovely, succulent lamb ribs and free dessert courtesy of the excellent owner. This was accompanied by tasty house red wine. Nice atmosphere. The server Eleftheria was attentive and friendly. I recommend anyone to visit and dine here!

The quality and the service of this restaurant is remarkable. I order for like 2-3 times every week and I’ve been there in person too. The prices I think are reasonably low for what they’re serving. Also try their bio wine. Michalis and Dimitris are soooo friendly!
