If you are vegan and you like gyros/pita this place is a must visit! We tried the pink and the red wraps with a potato starter, and all of it had lots of flavour! Delicious food at a fair price.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Definitely come here when you’re in Athens! I had the ‘red’ gyro & my bf had the kebab special which we ordered with some chips on the side. Incredible. Literally came instantly but it’s made there and then so it’s all fresh! Staff are super lovely too!! Would come back!

Cookoomela offers an fantastic selection of vegan wraps, with a delicious gyros-like flavour that you won't be able to resist. The base can be either lentils or mushrooms. Unlike some other vegan gyro wraps, this one is not as close to an authentic meat substitute, but the filling is more of an alternative with vegetables to make a great wrap filling. Only tried the mushrooms gyros portion but it was great. The portion is generous and the taste is good. The salads that come with it are refreshing. There are stands where one can enjoy their snack while the place is situated right around the other corner fro exarchia Square which makes it very central and convenient if you re in the centre looking for some healthy snack. The guys that run the place are nice and overall the place is a "must try"

Took the 20 minute walk up from Monastiraki Square to get vegan Gyros from here and it was worth every step. The mushroom gyros and potatoes were absolutely awesome, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The price was so cheap for such good food and washing them down with a beer made it perfect. The area is not the most picturesque but the food makes up for that.

Never expected from a vegan place but these gyros were delicious! Super friendly owner who encouraged us in and we tried 4 of the different flavors (all amazing) and was very cheap. Would come back for sure!

It was ok, but I will not be coming back. I do not understand why the champions are not seasoned😬 it would help with the taste a lot. Also the pita was filled with other vegetables in upper half. It felt as money grab.. Edit: There was no point for asking for the new one, as I saw during eating mine how next ones were made: sauce, 2 potato chunks, champions, tomato in upper half and roll. Plus I didn’t like it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m happy that your other customers are satisfied - I am not one of them. Maybe take a trip to vegan beat and check how mushrooms can be seasoned.

I was recommended to come here from a friend that did a Vegan Athens Food Tour. I started off by ordering the “Kebab special” (lentil kebab) souvlaki and it was so good! I liked how there’s homemade potatoes inside, instead of just French fries. It was filling but I wanted to try something else as well. I then ordered the “Vegan Daco Salad” and added some of the mushroom gyro so I could try that as well. I was too full to finish the salad but it was very good. Everything was so amazing and refreshing! Even if you aren’t vegan/veg you will love it. I will definitely recommend to my friends!

Hiden gem alert ! looks like a regular souvlaki ,with sauces and pita breads being grilled and potatoes being fried. It even smells familiar, but if you look closely, you will notice that there is no meat in sight or,no animal products it’s just 3 mushroom “gyro” versions (with mustard mayo, tomato sauce and herb it is the best vegan souvlaki in town!! Highly recommend!

Rude people, hurring you out of the shop to serve others and no interest in accomodating any need. I can’t eat bread and they wouldn’t serve me the ingredients in a platter without the bread. If you want vegan gluten-free gyros go to the Gkyzi Cookomela: they are cool and nice people and happy to serve clients. Run away from Exarcheia Cookomela. Mean and agressive shop manager. They don’t deserve any clients.

The best vegan street food in Athens!! The mushroom gyros is spectacular, so so flavorful, especially the supreme version! We came twice to try other dishes and got the lentils kebab which was amazing. Don’t forget to get potatoes with their homemade vegan mayo. The prices are very good as well.

Love this place, best vegan food I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot! Sauces are homemade, very healthy, so delicious and the service is just more than great. I recommend it a 100 times!

Tastiest good I have ever eaten. There was so much flavour and so many good fresh ingredients. The staff were also super lovely - offering to fill up our water bottles with the filtered water!!! Probably going to come back every day to our trip.

The cookoomela in gkyzi is great. The people in the exarcheia place were very rude with my allergic partner, just because we asked one question, don’t go!

I was looking for a quick bite that didn't involve the typical greek street food. I am glad I chose Cookoomela Grill. I ordered the Mushroom Burger and it was heavenly! The service was snappy too! The location is what it is, so don't expect a view of the Acropolis. Do try it when you are downtown!

Having lived in Athens for most of my life, and having been a vegan for the last three years, I find that Cookoomela is my number one go-to place whenever I find myself in the center. Simply put: It is affordable, delicious, filling (big guy here), completely vegan, and with extremely high quality nutritious materials. Antonis is also a very welcoming and humorous host to be around, bringing joy (and tsipouro!) to the people sitting at the tables in front of this cozy little corner of the city. Every friend of mine who has tasted the mushroom gyros here has been nothing short of impressed, vegans and non-vegans alike. 10/10, would highly recommend!

We had a red and a pink vegan souvlaki and they werde both truly delicious. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere at this street in the evening was also nice with a positive and chilled spirit.

We have eaten Rainbow Supreme with Mushrooms Souflaki, Kebap Joghurt and Special with Lent Kebap. All off them were fabulous. Before the lent kebapI have eaten the minced beef kebap for the third of that price. So, of I would have the choice, I would choose the lent kebap from Cookoomela. Fürther, the staff was very nice. The location is streetfood-style, nut really enjoyable since everyone was relaxed.

The best vegan gyros in Athens (strongly recommend the mushroom one). The gyros are massive, and have all the sauces and delish veggie bits inside. Huge healthy salads as well (loved the Rainbow salad) and chunky home-cooked chips. One of my new favourite spots + lovely smiley staff too. 💙 A beautiful place! x

Got a tip from a local to go to Cookoomela for the best vegan gyros in Athens. And I have to say: it is great! Small take-away place where you can sit across a quiet street. Perfect place to get your lunch!

Cheap and very cheerful! Amazing vegan gyros with mushroom filling and a whole host of other options. We got the gyros without the sides for lunch and they were incredibly filling. We're only here for a short while, but would 100% visit again (and again) if we were here any longer!

We came for dinner at Cookoomela since we were looking for vegan gyros and this restaurant had positive reviews on Google. The service was very friendly and quick and the food was amazing! Dishes were flavorful and hearty(generous portions!) with the perfect amount of condiments. It would also be a great option for takeaway.

These gyros are the best possible use of mushrooms and potatoes. Pick a sauce of your liking and a pile of napkins then enjoy the delicious food.
