If you care about your pet, AVOID THIS VET! Took my dog there for a check-up yesterday and had to wait over an hour before being seen - the vet has a number system and does not take appointments, which means you could have a dog waiting for surgery before you and not be told your waiting time will be longer - great communication to clients NOT. What’s worse is the fact that this supposed ‘vet’ uses unqualified and untrained staff with pets - his ‘assistant’ took my dog’s temperature which led to my dog bleeding heavily from the bum - clearly that lady inserted the thermometer wrong and hurt my pet!!! I have never seen such an unprofessional way of treating pets!!! AVOID IF YOU LOVE AND CARE ABOUR YOUR ANIMAL. Disgusting! You deserve zero stars!

My family and I have been going to Pets Concern for years, way before it turned into the commercial hub it is today. My 5 dogs always received their treatment there. Today I called on behalf of a friend who just rescued a cat. I wanted to buy a natural supplement. I was assured that it was in stock and at no point was there any mention of prescription. As soon as your receptionist realized that said cat is not currently a patient over there, she backtracked and said 'now it's on prescription only'. Disgusting and money minded. This to me, shows that Pets Concern does NOT in fact treat pets as family. This shows that money talks and I no longer feel safe bringing my dogs over there anymore- nor will I be recommending you to everyone like I've been doing for years. The only reason why my friend asked me to check with Pets Concern is because up until today, I've had nothing but glowing praises about this place. We all know that Himalaya supplements are not under prescription and indeed, minutes later, I got it from your competitor at Candos which is where my dogs (plus my friend who was looking for a vet) are going to continue their treatment from now onwards. To the main vet/manager: you are very kind and professional, and I've always admired you- but I hope you know what's going on with your staff. What happened today was shocking and shameful on so many levels. I cannot trust such a money minded institution anymore.

Worst experience of my life! I’ve been here 2 times and both times were very shocking. The employees prefer to talk amongst themselves than to help clients. There is alot of waiting as well as the receptionist speaking extremely rudely when asking how long roughly to wait. You can’t even call for an appointment. It is extremely unprofessional and i advise everyone to go elsewhere.

The Pros: 1. Amicable and Friendly personnel 2. A lot of Parking space The cons: 1. Ill pets treated together in the same space 2. No follow-up nor hospitalization of pets 3. Poor professional diagnostic and thereafter treatment My major issue is that Pets Concern offers the same amount of service to your pet as "any hospital of Mauritius" offers to human I like to elaborate here. a. the wait is long , very long - not because they treat the other dogs before yours diligently; but they are treating several dogs at the same time. b. the medical expertise and professional advise is severely lacking; since they are dealing with a lot of dogs and are clearly under-staff ( though they have great people there); they need to expedite the diagnostic without proper after-care advise. The veterinary examined my dog for an amount of 5 mins, then recommended a series of injections and serum. While waiting for the serums to be administered; the 4 dogs which followed me, receive the same treatment. 5 - 7 mins top with the "expert" and handed other to generous assistants to receive the exact same treatment than my dog. While it clearly appeared that those dogs were suffering from other illness. Looks to me the treatment is the general "panadol". I can't recommend this place since my dog state drastically deteriorated over night; he contracted some over diseases while i was at Pet Concern. Went to another less "recommended" vet who did an array of test on my pet, and now he is recuperating. So my advise, is to avoid as much as possible this place until they change their services. It is clear based on new reviews that this sentiment is shared, and Pet Concern's service has declined with time.

Very caring and professional staff. My cat was hurt badly and when I went there. They immediately took care of it unlike another popular clinic in Quatre borne near winners. They even call me the following day to check on the cat. Will recommend!

Can't say about the vet competency as they are usually fine. But the waiting time is awful. I had an appointment at 12h00 and I was kept waiting endlessly and each time I had to ask what's the next step and what I should be doing with my pet...

There is no follow up, records and progression, staffs are amateur and rude, they treat different ill animals at the same time which is very bad. Money minded business. If you care about your pet. Please never go there. Highly unrecommended.

Don't even deserve one star. Poor service and mentality! They're not concerned about your fur baby at all... They're just concerned about the money they can make out of your baby illness and sufferings! Will give the treatment according to the money they can get from it. The vet didn't explained what my baby was having and gave wrong diagnostic. The vet will check your baby for 1 min then go back in their office to sip their coffee. They will use one serum for many dogs and give the same treatment to all dogs. Theyve specialised in cutting cost while charging you a lot for it. Delaying treatment so that your baby gets weaker so they can make more money out of it while your baby is dying. That's just inhuman.

Unreliable, insensible and inhumane. The time shown above (19:00) is not real because its currently 18:00 and i just called for an urgent appointment as my dog got run over (i suspect hind leg fracture) and they refused categorically mentioning that they close at 18:00.

I went yesterday for a case of spontaneous ruptured abscess in a cat. This is my opinion being a medical professional myself. I was told my cat needed a Complete blood count to be done (optional?) and at another stage rehydration. (no history of vomiting, no diarrhoea and the initial doctor who assessed the cat in the waiting room on my request as i was worried due to the long wait clearly said "no signs of dehydration, does not look sick you can wait and don't worry" Not being a professional animal handler i was asked to hold the front paws of the feline and its neck while they try and get an iv cannula and line in without being provided with any protective bite gloves and despite requesting for the same, i was informed that such is not available even if i wanted to purchase them. They only have lead gloves for xrays. To cut a long story short, since it was impossible to get the line in, they proposed to "tranquilize" the cat, a decision which was again amended later for an alternative as communicated verbally: "fit for discharge home, oral antibiotics, topical antibiotic spray, multivitamins, betadine topical solution". I queried whether it was standard practice with vet colleagues overseas, in terms of the owner being converted to a "nursing assistant/handler" during such invasive procedures and was informed that this was not the case in their countries of practice as the pet owner is not trained or certified to assist in such invasive procedures and this could cause more harm to an animal (they do not allow non medical persons or owners in invasive procedure rooms eg drip insertions in their practice) , maybe here things are different, maybe... And maybe a reason will be provided for such as well. I personally never asked the mother or father of a child to hold a limb to get a drip inserted till date, but rather be present in the room to comfort the child. I am also not sure if a non medical party can rationally make a decision, wisely so, in regards to medical science eg "this is option A, B and C, the choice is entirely yours" but rather i believe this may sound better "this is what I recommend, but should you not be agreeable you may consider x y z option bearing in mind d e f outcome possibilities" Visit number C25. So for me i am happy to go there for routine vaccinations and regular check ups but yesterday's experience changed another aspect. To be fair, the one good thing is the doctors there versus other places i have been to in Mauritius actually appear to care to conduct a full clinical examination.

Very attentive to details. Listen carefully and do a full check-up. Very good doctor. I went with Dr Jha. The only issue is that the assistant vet does not finish with 1 patient then goes with another one. Had to do a blood test, xray and ecg. They will come and put you in a room and says wait then go with another patient. I would be really grateful if this issue could be resolved as this is the only issue I faced. Otherwise, very good service and very good staff

The man at the reception did not reflect the good image of the institution. But Niresha did a very wonderful and informative job, for someone who visited them for the first time. The vet, a gentleman was quite a good listener. Overall no greetings from other members of the staff while I stepped in and waited for few minutes, as the reception desk was vacant. I hope I won't be dissatisfied with my second visit. Thank you very much. Asha from Port Louis

Generalist Doctors are worst there. Brought my cat there. Doctor did not know what to say. Everything may be. I asked May be constipation. Said won't be able to know on palpation. Suggest for an xray. Give laxative to my cat for 3 days. Cat was not eating since 3 days last. Traumatised the cat with laxative. Nothing come out. Call the doctor again . Said come for blood test. Worst Doctors and staff there. Don't recommend

I have been visiting Pet Concern since 2019. If you are going there only for vaccinations, that's ok but if your pet is having some health issues, I don't recommend it. Few years back my cat was having some breathing issues. They kept making x ray and all other stuff but couldn't find out what is the actual problem. Kept giving him cortisone. I found out with another vet that actually my cat has chronic breathing problem which cannot be cured but he can live with it. Recently I have to go there for my cat again, her gum was bady inflamed. Unfortunately Dr Puspendra told me I have to make scaling every 3 months which means giving them anaesthesia every time! She didn't give any treatment for the inflamed gum, sent her back home like this and told me to make an appointment for scaling . She also made my cat's routine parasites injection but didn't even realize the injection didn't go under the skin, all the fluid fell from her and the vet didn't even see it! I had to tell her and she made an other injection. She didn't seem professional at all. I brought both my cats for check up and the inflamed gum but she didn't even check them properly. Just told me to make an appointment for the scaling. Her gum worsened and I had to take her to another clinic. Found out that antibiotic has to be given before making any scaling to reduce her inflammation as her gum is so sensitive. And scaling is not needed every 3 months the vet said! Stop being so money minded people! This island needs animal lover and practical vets who will really care for animals and not gonna put them under unnecessary treatments. This can be a business for you but all pet owners leaving their pet's life in your hands. Don't abuse like this.

The vet is almost never there. When I visit a veterinary clinic I expect to see vet not only assistants. Also dr Jha is arrogant and ill mannered. Do not recommend at all.

Im rewriting my previous review as I did not detailed it -it is my experience, *might not be the same for everyone.* First day i went there to make a medical check for my dog as he was not well and not eating that much. I arrived before 09:55. Dr Jha did his check and diagnoses a severe dehydration to my dog and will have to undergo radiography and blood test done at 09:59 as per receipt blood test. He explained clearly what happened to my dog internal organs but missed some details i gave him. The assistants veterinary(Ghireesha) and trainee(were very kind, helpful, hardworking). They administered serum around 10:22 with vitamin, panadol, other medicines. Then they had an “urgent” staff meeting which lasted for “23 minutes” and I had to wait till 12:06(time my card was swipped) to leave the clinic. •Day 1 cost Rs.2715 Second day, I went at 09:59 as the vet told me for serum follow up to come at 10a.m. and if my dog’s health does not improve they will do further test. The directrice took me inside to talk about her company social image for 18 minutes for my previous review (WOM she does not know what impression she gave like🤢) and when I came out i missed my turn and had to wait till 10:30 so that my dog have his serum injections(it takes approx 40mins for half bottle) with other medicines. I was asked if I want to do further blood test I said yes! as my dog health matters! Blood test will take me 40 minutes as per Ghireesha(who was working alone and taking care of 3 more dogs at the same time of mine.)Hats off! Blood test was for liver, kidney, stomach-comprehensive diagnostic which costs Rs.2650 and treatment Rs.615. Left there at 11:30. To me, I still do not understand why the blood test done on day 2 could not be done day 1?! One of most dangerous problem is kidney failure as there is no cure as per internet… So readers, pet lovers, please take great care of your dog/pets health since baby. I learnt it late but not for you as there is time-whether it is their nutritions, drinking lot of fresh water for them to have a good healthy life and do not waste so much money.

Very poor service and mentality. Such a money minded institution. Do not recommend at all! My dog's health started deteriorating once I brought him there for surgery. When we called the clinic, the staff told us that it’s normal for him to experience such symtoms. Sadly, I lost my dog. Extremely unprofessional!

Professional team. Special thanks to Vet Dr Claire and Dr Jha who were very attentive to my dog's issue. The whole team is very patient and was careful with my pet. The place is well equipped. There is also a small pet shop. The only issue is the long waiting line. If you have an emergency, suggest to go early in the morning.

Cat got sterilised there, cost 1600rs plus medics came to rs2500. Forget the money, the worst part is I have to take cat again to remove ugly stitches and cat was in pain after..had to give antibio and loads of medics..I did the same sterilisation for my other cat at ALM a few months back, surgery left no scars or stitches and the cat was fine the next day with minimal pain, plus zero medic to give...

Today is my first time visiting the place. I've heard about it previously and the people seemed to be happy with the service. I actually didnt bring my cat and I only queried a couple of things. The gentleman on the front desk was being very polite. Not many customers at the time I visited which was mid-day. The waiting area is relatively small compared to a particularly well-known place in Quatre Bornes, but I guess what really matters is the service. I will be happy to bring my cats there the next time I have to do so.

Extremely slow service. It is first come first served, so you expect a wait. But no real organisation or communication from the “front of house” and no enforcement of the animal rules on display, eg dogs are not muzzled and not all are leashed despite the regulations stating this is a requirement.
