Came here for dinner after reading all the good reviews and unfortunately was disappointed. The server seemed to be in a bad mood or simply rude. We ordered a few appetizers and salad. Squid was good but not grilled as said on the menu and by server. Fried calamari was very tender but a bit salty. Salad was a waste of money since it didn’t have any flavour. For mains we got grilled fish which once again wasn’t grilled and extremely overcooked. Also it’s was very tiny for the price. Rabbit and chicken paella was okay, but the rice were very much underdone. Overall we didn’t enjoy the experience at all and not sure why this place have so many good reviews. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend to anyone and wouldn’t want to come back. The best part about this was sea view but many other restaurants have that too.

love this place, we've been there two times on our vacation. got a table for 11 people with no problem, didn't even had to wait that long for the food which was amazing!! the waiters are nice and speak english. would absolutely recommend and hope we can go back sometime! Sandro did very good on his first day, love him!!❤️ got complimentary shots at the end which was really nice as well🥂

I orderd a rib steak medium rare on a peppersauce and got something that looks and smell like a dog crashed by car with a tasteless sauce with some pepper we ate one bit and had to pay the full price without any sorry or a free drink. Bad Bad Bad

This establishment surprised me in a very positive way with the fresh products and changed my judgement on beach side restaurants. While the neighbouring restaurants would focus on paellas, this place stands out with fresh seafood and outstanding service. If you’re on the look out for easy going local cuisine for democratic prices close to the beach, then this is your go to. Highly recommended! I’m coming back!

Came for lunch with friends. The place was full, so we had to wait approximately 20 minutes in a line. We had a table just next to the beach (first line). The view was spectacular. The food was good, just had small nuances (based on my personal preferences). The general atmosphere was really nice, but there were always some people in the restaurant who wanted to sell you watches, glasses, lottery or just wanted money from you. A little bit annoying. Also there is only one toilet for ladies, so there always was a queue. Because of non-stop usage the toilet room was very dirty.

I liked the atmosphere of this place as well as a few other restaurants at the beach promenade. Good seating and heavy tables indoor or at the opened beach terrace. It is just so nice to sit down and have a lunch when the sun is shining onto your cheeks and the wind plays with your hair. Other than that, we ordered a Valencian paella which was delicious. Fresh orange juice was great as well. I would say that all of the food was fairly priced. The service was quick. The only imperfection was that there was a man next to the restaurant playing a flute, when he finished he went table by table and begged for money, which felt inappropriate to me and quite intrusive. I don't know whether the restaurant staff can actually prevent that anyhow but they could at least see him off as soon as he came to the first customers. I mean, the man could have just waited in front of the restaurant, if the customers wanted they could have given him money when leaving or so...

This review is long overdue because it was the highlight of my trip to Valencia back in February. For tapas I had a taste of both the anchovies in vinegar and the squid. The anchovies were lovely and salty with perfect acidity from the vinegar. The squid was huge and came both with regular squid rings and what could be described as crispy squid tentacles. Then I shared the paella de marisco. This is the best food Valencia has to offer. Comes with whole prawns and languistines, and the rice was done perfectly, as you would expect from a paella. Then for dessert I had some natillas and tiramisu. Gifts from the gods, perfectly light desserts to finish the meal. But the highlight of eating here was actually the waiter we had. He spoke no English but was so happy to communicate with us with the Spanish we had. Many other restaurants were so quick to offer English menus or get other waiters who speak English. He also made sure my Dad got lots of beer! Hopefully his presence is appreciated by the other staff as we did. Between him and the outstanding food we had I have no doubt that this was among the best meals I have ever had. Absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the beach.

We loved it here! The paella, the sangria, the beach view and one of the best tables we could’ve asked for (119 - i believe). But more importantly, we were so impressed by the staff here. They are working so much, and still manage to be very nice and open. Especially mister Juan, who, since we walked in, worked non stop without a break and still managed to be friendly, funny and show his lovely personality. Thank you for a memorable beach day in Valencia! Ps, to the owner: the staff seems overworked and not enough for the influx of people, especially around the lunch time. Please hire more people to give some breathing space to your employees and a better experience to the people who reviewed your restaurant and are complaining about waiting times (understandably longer since there are so many things to do and so many people to serve)

One of the best Paella we had, but the worst service also. The old guy tried to help us and was together with the other guys. But the girls/ladies ignored us, they gave us an unwelcome feeling. We ate the food and left it as soon as possible, also as mentioned was the bathroom a mess.

Nice location on the beach. In summer time this place would be beautiful. The waiter didn’t speak English fluently but was very helpful and friendly. Fresh seafood and nice cocktails.

I don’t know how to explain this properly but only that we’ve been here twice in a month and the experience is always great. We were looking for one of the most reviewed paella place in the city (due to our lack of paella experience) and the reviews did not disappoint. The restaurant is easily accessible, by the beach tables with shade and sunny side options, toilets are clean, the servers can speak in either spanish or english whichever you prefer. And the best part is that their recommended dish (calamar a la plancha) is a REAL WINNER! Would have it any day. Ü I’ll post photos next from today’s visit and do an update from the first time we went! Oh and for the paella, the best in Valencia for me is in El Palma to eat by the rice fields itself but it’s quite far.. so if you need a paella valenciana fix (please order the one with chicken and rabbit and garrafón) in the city and have a good time at Cabanyal beach in the sun, this is an equally good one. :)

One of the best meals we had during a 3 day trip to Valencia. Service was excellent, the waitress ensured we were looked after properly. Tapas portions were decent sizes. The senyoret rice was delicious and top notch, lamb chops were scrumptious. We also a got a table with a nice view of the sea. Highly recommended for the quality of food and service

El Trompo, located on the sun-kissed shores of Valencia's Paseo Maritimo de la Malvarrosa, captured my heart with its authentic Mediterranean charm. As I savored their exquisite paella, each grain of rice was perfectly infused with the essence of the sea. The seafood selection, so fresh it might as well have leaped from the ocean onto my plate, was cooked to perfection. It wasn't just the food that made my experience unforgettable, but the service, especially from Elena, was exceptional. She attended to us with such care and attention that we felt like honored guests at a private banquet. Her recommendations were impeccable, and her bright personality added a special touch to our already delightful evening. El Trompo is more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination that offers a slice of the Mediterranean soul. My advice? Go for the food, stay for the hospitality, and leave with memories that will beckon you to return.

Great location near the beach. Very bubbly atmosphere, lots of people dinning here. The Clóchina were very good, however the Valencian paella was a bit dry.

The grilled squid was great! And I didn't like the shrimps with garlic - they were cold, there were few of them and the taste was mediocre. There was a smell of fried oil inside the restaurant. There is a chance to carry this smell with you. And on the open terrace to sit if the weather allows it is just wonderful! There is no road or pavement between the restaurant and the sea, so the feeling of the sea is great. There were lots of food, we asked to take it away with us. The waiter brought us the containers and we folded the food ourselves. I would like the waiter to do it

  • 3/5 Arah 11 months ago on Google
You need to book in advance if you want to get a sit. Food and service was ok, the good thing it was the view of the beach. More organization between the waiters could help to enjoy the food instead of waiting for them to look at you to get anything

We do not recommend this place. They took 40 mins to even take our order for paella and it wasn’t very busy. I ordered a sangria that I hated and didn’t finish. Paella was dry and salty. We paid $90CAD for our meal to one paella to share and a one beer and sangria, since the staff weren’t around to order anything more. Great location on the beach, but will definitely not be returning

The food here was AMAZING! We ordered the paella Valenciana and it came out perfect (see the before and after for proof). Oscar was a great server; super fast and personable and gave us great recommendations. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Sandro was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing and attentive. We got the seafood and meat (mixed) paella and it was so good we were scraping for more. The sangrias are a good size and he recommended a great white wine. There was a small wait but line went fast and was so worth it. Overall, will come back again!

Great beachside dining! Our server Oscar did a great job managing the lunch rush! I got veggie paella and my friend got mixed meat, wish the paella had a little more crunch but over all loved the food and the vibe.

The atmosphere and vibe at el trompo was fantastic. Filled with cacti, right on the beach, with indoor and outdoor seating and windows all around, it was the perfect place for a Sunday afternoon. The Paella Valenciana was one of the most flavourful dishes I’ve ever eaten, and our waiter, Oscar, was friendly, helpful, and kind. Id recommend el trompo to anyone visiting Valencia, and certainly intend to come back again. Proud to be members of the clean plate club

Went here because it was close to the beach and had amazing views and Google said it was a 4.4 so thought eh can’t be that bad. It was bad, the squid tasted like pure egg (not sure how that is possible) we waited over an hour before we could even order food even though we were ready when we ordered our drinks. Honestly the food was quite inedible, and they left something off the order even though we mentioned it twice to the waitress (ended up being thankful for this because it probably would have been yucky too). I don’t recommend you go here unless it’s for a Fanta and coke to enjoy the views. Paella probably is your best food option, even though it looked quite dry. We eat a lot of seafood typically and we’re not impressed :(

Food was okay, on the pricey side but typical of a beach front restaurant. Fried fish tapas was great, everything else was average. Service was good, location is excellent.

Lovely location - on the Valencia beach (Malvarrossa). Was not very crowded. Order Paella Valencia, the original paella. It was good, but docking one star because had to get two portions despite being alone. That is how it comes, they said. I suspect that is true, but surely they can find a solution. Had to carry the rest. It was good for the next day, so no complaints on that front. The meat (rabbit) was slightly dry. But the rice was flavorful.

Came by on a Sunday evening without reservation. We were promptly seated and offered to switch table to be closer to the sea. The waitress was a bit slow in taking our order but once that was done our drinks abs paella came quickly. Paella Valenciana was a good portion to share for two.

Perfect place near the sea. You should come here for a delicious seafood paella accompanied by a wonderful seaside view. We would also like to thank Raquel, a super energetic and wonderful person who took great care of us. see you again.

Honestly...could be better, but maybe it was just an off day? Also we can only speak limited spanish, just want to give full disclosure. The staff was not friendly or attentive, and our waiter changed several times....also the menu was in Spanish and only downloadable by PDF, which also sometimes didn't work since the qr codes on the table were washed out. We ordered 2 beers and a water to start, and the first waiter couldn't speak English and was quite rude even though I told him "dos cervesas y Agua por favor" he looked at me like I had two heads.... really kinda spoiled the start of our evening. After that we got a waiter eventually but even he wasn't friendly but could speak English. We ordered. Food came quick but was okay at best. I would not recommend what we ordered to anyone! If you choose to go, don't get the 1. Patatas Bravas 8. Calamaris I've had better for both dishes. We ordered also the chicken dish, also would not recommend. Very salty, but it tasted okay, just not for the price. If you go here maybe stick to the Pallea instead. Keep in mind each dish is per person and minimum 2 people is required.

Been there a few times and would highly recommend. Really friendly service and amazing food. Would recommend getting the menu with the bread, starters, the paella/rice and dessert, as it serves very well for a fair price. Not to mention the amazing sea front view.

Wednesday morning my mother, a grandmother, was left standing waiting to be seated for 15 minutes, before empty tables having been told by staff very rudely to put on shoes- which she did instantly. I hope this is not El Trompo policy... I'm any case they won't see me, family or friends again after this we'll keep going to Casa Isabel a few metres further that have been showing great service

The food was okay, the ambient and the decoration is amazing. Too bad that the service is awful, not one kind word. All of the waiters seem like they were having a bad day. They ignored us for half an hour even though the restaurant was not at all full.

Found hair in my seafood paella. No apology from waiter when I pointed it out. Instead they ignored it and charged me full price. Will not be going again.

Busy (on a Sunday) restaurant by the Mediterranean Sea in the Malva Rosa area of Valencia. Delicious food and friendly service although it slowed a lot when the crowd hit. View of water and authentic paella.

  • 5/5 Alina B. 2 years ago on Google
The paella & service was good. Even if the waitress didn't knew English, we managed to understand each other and have a pleasant experience here.

Entrecôte wasn't aged, tough and grissley! chips were nice but not enough of them. Calamares were nice. Shared salad was pretty standard. Service was ok but waitress had very little knowledge of menu. Too expensive for quality of food.

  • 3/5 Yannick V. 2 years ago on Google
Beach view is a nice perk, but the food is not great. Respect for the two waitresses who hustled to serve everyone despite being severely understaffed.

  • 2/5 Erwin L. M. 2 years ago on Google
Tourist trap Low or medium quality food (good price to be fair), but we had higher expectations as we had been in the traditional restaurants at the beginning of the ‘Puerto’ where food is amazing (high prices but well paid). The service was at same level as food, not very friendly. If you can try some other options, almost sure they’ll be better, and if you can pay it aim for the restaurants at the start of that avenue.
