Very disappointing staying here after Hostal Po. Verde Limon has the highest rating in Hostelworld but absolutely not deserved. Receptionist was on his phone the entire time during check in. While room was large it was pretty grubby (dusty windowsills) doors are pretty rickety (door handles starting to fall out and lock was temperamental). On the plus side: Shower hot (although shower head is split) Very central to bar area (but therefore noisy until the early hours) Book one of the hostels in Urriola street, much nicer. (Hostal Po)

Very loud neighbourhood, dirty rooms and the owner didn't let us stay between the check-out time and the time we could check-in at the next hostel.

Nice and chip place to spend the night!

We were about an hour late arriving in Valparaiso due to traffic delays, which meant we would miss the check-in window. We got the unhelpful reply that check-in times were published on the website, which we knew full well, and that our booking was cancelled. The hostal has no interest finding a solution as to how to get a key to someone unexpectedly delayed. Literally left hanging. In all my years of travel it's the first time I've experienced this. Find another business that stays open later from which the key can be collected for example. With a mild amount of effort we could have found a solution, so a bit disappointing that we were suddenly left to wonder the streets looking for a new place to stay, particularly given the city isn't exactly the safest at night.
