The restaurant team at The White Horse were really warm and welcoming our party of 14(!) We'd pre-ordered our mains - a mix of roasts and grills - to give them a heads up and added some starters and desserts either side, and all of the food came through tasting great and in good time! Great portions, tasty food, thumbs up all around.

We went on the off chance on Fathers Day, the restaurant was understandably busy but the patio area was lovely, well catered for with umbrella's and even flowers on the tables. We could not fault the friendly and attentive staff. The roast dinners were excellent and the salads well presented. Definately somewhere to return. Well done.

Surprised and delighted by the quality of vegan food on the menu, including a delicious plant-based burrata and onion tart. Both pictured. Friendly service.

I don't know why exactly, I want to like this place more, but I simply wasn't won over. Staff were lovely. Food was ok, but although I know this is often the case for many many pubs, it just felt like it came out the back of a Brakes food lorry and didn't have anything added by someone special in the kitchen. I had half a rack of ribs and chips. There was a small piece of corn on the cob, which I love. It tasted ok, but it was grey, had clearly not been cooked that day. The sparkling water is out of a 'soda machine' put into their own bottles. In fact the waitress was still twisting the cap back on as she presented it. They are not making a secret of it, but it's just not my thing. The decor is alright. But it's not my thing either. The worst thing was the cardboard menu. When I turned it over to see what was on the reverse side (just their logo as it happens, no more options) it had dried up food and gravy stains. Meh!

Came her for a work Xmas lunch. Food was great, especially the Jacobs ladder and the turkey. Cosy, clean and well staffed. Desperately needs public wifi though. Don't come here if you need a phone signal!🤳🏼

Lovely roast dinner!!! Excellent beef and lamb, cooked beautifully!!! The only thing i would say is order extra roast potatoes, as you only get 3x on the plate.

A superb country pub with some accommodation (not tried but I'm sure they're lovely). We visited here last weekend for lunch and the food was superb. It was quite busy but we managed to find a free table. Cosy, welcoming and great value for money.

Steaks we're perfect. Stroganoff was dry and unbeatable. Took it home for our friend's dog. Nothing taken off our bill even though 2 meals uneatable

A wonderful place to relax with both a pub and restaurant setting. The decor in the restaurant was lovley! We booked a table last minute with our two small children and as soon as we arrived it had such a great atmosphere and very welcoming. All staff had wonderful customer care and the food was delicious offering a very good selection. They serve range of wines, beers, spirits, cocktails and mocktails. Parking onsite and it’s even a hotel so you could stay in the beautiful village country setting.

I went here after a long walk in Panshanger park for a roast. The roast was good and filling. Meat and yorkshires were the best bit with the gravy. Potatoes were rubbish and the rest of the veg was nothing special but still nice. Truffles cauliflower cheese had too much truffle in it so wasn’t enjoyable. I’ll come back if I’m on a walk in the area again on a Sunday and will go back to try the midweek menu! Brownie was good. Nice pub/restaurant and outside is very big.

First time here Nice welcome at the bar, very comfortable clean surroundings, we chose to eat on thr bar. Pleasant atmosphere, not overly busy. Service was good, took an age to get my Americano. Vegan options limited, I ordered the vegan burger, it was tasty. Mens toilet had not been checked for a while as soiled. Overall a very pleasant visit, I would consider eating here again. Cannot rate the rooms as only here for lunch.

I think we went on a too busy day. Meat was tough ,some of veg was under cooked, it was a shame we had heard good things about white horse. We will give it another try, ie mid week

Food was burnt and service was slow. If we have been having a bottomless brunch we would have got better service. Just bad.

We came here on Sunday for a roast. It took an hour after ordering for the food to arrive. It tasted nice and the sides were good. Service wise it needs some improvement. The young staff are not attentive and we had to ask for plates to be removed once we'd finished as they were left sitting for some time.

Absolutely stunning old English pub with a modern contemporary feel. Hidden away in beautiful hertingfordbury it oozes sophistication and the menu, food and staff are all top tier. All of the food was cooked and prepared beautifully with decent sized portions. The decor is stunning and and the dining area is extremely bright and colourful. Highly recommended for any occasion so we will most definitely be back 😍

A truly dog friendly pub! Lovely Sunday roast menu with great veggie options & well cooked meat! Dogs kept in bar area away from those in restaurant so you can have your choice of dogs Vs no dogs

I only popped in for a spot of lunch after a walk around Panshanger Park (which was very good). A very hospitable pub/restaurant, polite and quick service to the table. I will probably go back for a full meal experience, maybe including the outside bubbles.

Visited here as part of a group lunch. Was disappointed straight away as they had no pizzas available (a notable part of their menu), which several people had chosen prior to our visit. However the food we did have was really nice still, and staff were great. Would still visit again to try the pizza!

Really friendly staff! They work well together and they welcomed us with a smile. All the drinks were reasonably priced and the outdoor area was perfect for dogs. Also not bad for parking bearing in mind how close to the main road it is. I would definitely recommend for a drop by pint and some food.

Mixed thoughts. Good value at £81 for the night 👍 Checked in late and popped down for a night cap just after 10pm. Not a soul to be seen so no drink 👎 Some visible cobwebs in the room over the curtain rail. Quirky shower Pastries and coffee for breakfast. Friendly lady on Checkout. Restaurant and bar area looked great. We stayed on a weekday night. Not busy.

Booked this venue for our Wedding- what an amazing place! It was the perfect day thanks to the hard working team here- nothing is too much trouble and the food is top class. Absolutely recommend this venue for a function , evening meal or overnight stay.

On Saturday the 9th July we held a family and friends celebration at the function room and external area of this pub. It's one of our local pubs that we have always experienced a great standard of service and quality. Staff very attentative to make sure the occasion went to plan. Food buffet and drinks served for our fifty guests in a timely manner and always on hand throughout the afternoon and evening. I wouldn't hesitate to book again Thanks to all the staff on Saturday especially Taylor for going above and beyond.

Nice but a bit expensive and a 10% service charge added to the bill which removes the pleasure of giving a tip for good service Reply to owner, I'm afraid you are missing the point and how many customers ask for the service charge to be removed, not many I bet because they would find it embarrassing or perhaps feel they may be confronted about their choice. So as I said the pleasure I would get from putting cash into a deserving hand has been lost. I know this is done by numerous establishments but it's not a policy I agree with and feels a bit American!

Had a great lunch last Saturday. They were quite busy but had excellent food and very good service. It had been years since I last visited. It has been refurbished by new owners and will definitely return soon.

This is a lovely country pub/hotel. The bar is intimate. The restaurant is ambient with a good standard of food. They have now added pods in the garden which look like fun, hopefully we will try them soon.
