If you want deep fried batter then that's what you get. Oily tasty goo with a bit of chicken. Since I couldn't find much chicken in my first bite as the batter was overwhelming I thought I would take apart two pieces of their chicken to see how much was batter and bone versus chicken meat. Say 60 to 70% is batter with bone and 30 to 40% is chicken.

Best Fried Chicken in Victoria! We were driving around the area today (7/13) and for the first time, we decided to try this restaurant called Chicken 649 that people have been raving about. We ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 meal. This came with The Original Crispy chicken and The Yang Nyeom (Korean Chicken:Just enough Spiciness) 😋😋So Yummy! The Filipina behind the counter (I forgot her name 😞) was very Professional, Helpful and Friendly. She even helped out an older gentleman to pick up some of his change, that he had dropped while He was eating his dinner. This place is a bit small and can be crowded at times, but it is a hidden gem.

Man Chicken 649 never fails. My partner and I moved to the neighborhood in September 2022 and it took us an embarrassingly long time to try this place just around the corner. Now we order at least once or twice a month. I’ve tried four different flavors and love them all but my favorite is soy garlic. It’s just perfect. Every time we order, no matter what sizes we get, we have leftovers so it makes the price really sensible. The last order I placed was for a 4 piece cheesy chicken. I ate 2 pieces and was full and used one piece to make a sandwich (yum) and had the last piece as a nice midnight snack. Very highly recommend.

Absolute favorite and best. Love at first taste and no other Korean chicken compares. They made my dreams come true when I wanted to try Korean fried chicken after a watching tones of kdramas. SO Freaking GOOD. But honestly, I personally am extremely picky and new foods are tough to try especially meat. This place tho - I barely ever find any fat. It’s so good. The yangnyeom sauce is insane. Thank you guys. Will forever be ordering here.

Make this your Korean Fried chicken stop! Honestly very surprised with the 1 star reviews as I had the complete opposite experience (more than once) ordering from this location. I called to make a take out order of 2x full set of wings. 1 order was half and half (sweet honey & soy almond) 1 order of sweet & spicy. Both box’s were heavy when I picked them up meaning we were getting what we paid for. What I personally like if some wings are boneless, this time around I had more than usual and I love that! They are tasty, savoury & filling! When I called, they mentioned a 15 min wait and they held up to their word. Again, not sure about the lower star review but my experiences have been nothing shy of great which also reflects in the food. Thanks for the good dining experience!

Ordered 8 pieces of Yangnyeom chicken and a meal with Garlic Soy Chicken. The KFC was saucy and DELICIOUS! So juicy, crispy, and came with full pieces of chicken! Fed 2 people with lots of leftovers. Also bought a coleslaw salad which is quite small and not really worth it but the chicken is amazing! There's an eating area but this is definitely a place for takeout.

I got perfect deep-fried bones! One drumstick been cut to 3 peaces! In one full order I only got 2 whole drumsticks! It is unbelievable! I will never back!

Had the chicken sandwich meal, which was fine. The chicken itself seemed to be a thigh, and a pretty anemic one at that. This sandwich is absolutely not worth twelve dollars -- even in this hyperinflation new world. I waited 26 minutes for my order even though when I ordered, the restaurant was totally empty. It seems like this business heavily prioritizes Skip the Dishes over it's in-store diners. A couple came in nearly 8 minutes after me, ordered a chicken meal, and ate it before my meal even arrived. A cashier told me my order was still coming, but it takes longer because it's a sandwich -- I'm still trying to figure out the logic of how a single chicken thighs could take 26 minutes to deep fry unless someone plain ol' forgot to make it for 15 minutes; but fine. What kills me is that the FLAVOR was great. The sauce was fantastic, and the wedges were flavorful if not a bit undercooked. Probably won't be back after that experience, but you should give it a shot if you haven't had Korean chicken before.

Every bite is juicy and crunchy. Lunch special is a good deal, really full after.

Chicken 🐔 649 is a very unique restaurant. It was my first time trying the Lunch special and I was really impressed by the cooking and the process of how the chicken thighs and wings were cooked. Cooked in a batter which is a truly unique recipe, the chicken tasted very delicious alongside the complimentary ketchup and mayonnaise sides that came with the order. When I ordered the lunch special, it came with 6 pieces of chicken alongside 6 or more potato wedges. The chicken and the potato wedges tasted very delicious, I was very impressed. I will definitely be back to Chicken 649, To satisfy my chicken craving.

They use really bad oil to fry the chicken. I have been ordering other korean fried chicken from DT. After keeping the chicken in fridge for one night, the one from this restaurant smells like dish towel, the other one from another restaurant smells ok. This restaurant uses the cheapest labour and the most batter to get the chicken done. The chopped garlic they use are not fresh but the packed ones from wholesale. Would even give the leftovers to my dog. Good luck running your unethical business.

Heard a lot about this place and I've driven by many times and wanted to go there, so I finally did and honestly it was a disappointment. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was pretty much a bunch of gristle and bits of chicken. I was fully expecting to bite into a nice juicy piece of fried chicken but that didn't happen at all. After all the hype from my friends I expected a lot more out of it. I've been to a number of other chicken places around town and those are much better in comparison. I'll be returning to those places instead as I know I'll get a good meal.

Good service and quick pick up. We ordered the original fried chicken and potato wedges. Both are delicious. Chicken so crispy and not dry. We ordered the full pack and shared with 5 people and there's more than enough for us.

Delicious chicken and friendly customer service every time. I think it is the best chicken in Victoria. We usually order the Half/Half and for 2 people, its alot of chicken (which is great!). When we pick it up, it's hot and has plenty of yummy saucy. It's very filling and we always have leftovers for the next day! Keep it up!!😊

One of the best Korean fried chicken in town. The overall price of everything has gone up a lot. This one is no exception. It has gone up to 36 from 26 two years ago. However, the price won’t keep me away from this goody! Less frequent, but great flavor. I will get soya and spicy half and half. This is what I have ordered since the restaurant first opened.

Wow. What a place! Honestly, I have had fried chicken many times, and I love to seek out the best stuff I can find. This one definitely rates amongst the best you can buy! It is phenomenal. We got everything off the menu, the greens salad was great, the coleslaw was awesome, the pickled radish (daikon) was super good, and the corn salad was okay (too sweet for my taste). The chicken is crunchy and yet moist, and was definitely worth the 25 minute wait. Once again, phenomenal!!!!

Likely the best take- away fried chicken in town. It's always busy; I suggest phoning ahead or order online. I've had the Original many times and it is crunchy salty yummy. I tried the spicy gooey Yum Yum recently and my friends and I agree it's fabulous! Make sure you order enough for left overs.

I would rate 9/10. If the boxes on the full chicken orders didn't leak. It would be 10/10. Great food though, best chicken hands down. I respect your beautiful service and mouth watering chicken. My favorite place in Victoria to eat, and not just fried chicken. I love the people, the location, the food, the prices. I look forward to sitting down and eating but takeout is also great. 10/10 , 5 stars, and every other glowing rating under the sun.

This place will be hot during the summer but it was fine when we dined it during the cooler period. The chicken portion is worth the money paid for it. We tried spicy fried chicken, original fried chicken, and cheese fried chicken. The taste rating is ordered that way, too. I also liked the picked radish, but it's probably because I tend to like sour food.

Really enjoyed the chicken burger, however, I would like to make some suggestions/requests to improve dining experience! 1. Napkins dispensers on the tables 2. Condiments on tables 3. Cutlery (knife and fork) on tables. I chose to get the sweet-and-sour sauce and it was really hard to eat my burger because of how they stacked the chicken. The bottom bun was covered in sauce so I was unable to pick it up without making a total mess. Also would love if they could offer regular fries instead of the thick wedges.
