This place literally almost killed me. I got taken here by ambulance on October 30 2019 for a suspected ruptured ulcer, made to wait to be seen by a doctor, screaming in agony. After finally being seen by a doctor they started to treat my pain while deciding what to do. When I say treat my pain I should say they barely treated it. I was barely given anything for pain, them knowing my history they gave me very low doses of painkillers that barely touched me. I had a CT scan which confirmed what I already knew, my ulcer had ruptured. They waited until the following morning, about 16 hours, to decide to transfer me to St. Paul's for surgery. By that time I was already septic from all the fluid leaking into my abdomen. Upon reaching St. Paul's and being wheeled into the OR and sedated I ended up going into cardiac arrest and dying for 25 minutes. If it wasn't for Peace Arch hospital taking their sweet time to decide what to do with me, I could have been transferred far sooner and had my surgery earlier with zero issues. If malpractice claims were easier in this country, I would be suing. Do not go here if you are a complex case. Go to Surrey Memorial instead.

Not sure if Dr Vrecko is a regular ER doctor at this hospital, but he was dismissive, uncaring and didn't listen to anything I had to say about my symptoms or history. Unwilling to help me in any capacity. I left crying, in horrible pain. The nurse that was in my zone was also uncaring and unhelpful. I felt stupid for asking questions. I did not receive proper care or any attention with him at all. I've read multiple reviews of people having very similar to experiences with him, including another physician. Unreal and completely irresponsible.

I’ve heard from one of workers normally patients need to wait 8hours at ER but today I waited 10 hours. I strongly questioned whether they have had doctors and nurses at this place, otherwise they only enjoy watching TV instead of caring of patients. It shows clearly what the real picture of Canada hospital is. Where the taxpayer money has gone? From the website, they urge people to donate hospital to buy some surgical instruments. Does it make sense for this.

Not surprised by the amount of terrible ratings. This hospital is filthy, and unhygienic.

Did not have a very good experience with the RN Aliya this evening, the whole experience was just brushed and didn’t feel any compassion, asked for a band aid for an open peeled cut from blood drawn a day before, being having chronic pain and auto immune diagnose now , I was told to leave it open no need for a band aid, I told her that I didn’t want to catch anything else in the hospital, she agreed with saying yeah hospitals are dirty and walked away. She kept looking at me like why are you here feeling definitely needs coaching !

8 hours wasted so far. I was supposed to go in for an emergency CT scan to find out what is wrong. The doctor sent a note and called ahead. The Triage nurse put me at the very bottom of the list. At 3 am they put 2 IV in me and gave me antibiotics and sent me home. They are guessing at what this is. My doctor didn't want to guess that's why she said do a CT. Now I am still waiting. Its the next day. They were supposed to call me in. Nobody has called so far. Go somewhere else. This place is a zoo. The pain meds aren't working either and i sat for 4 hours on a hard chair before someone finally gave me some Tylenol!! The Triage nurse doesn't pay attention to what shes doing - she couldn't remember whether she took my temperature or not. Stay away.

My husband has just come home after having a hip replacement surgery at PAH and we both felt compelled to review our experience here. From the minute we arrived we were treated with compassion, respect and dignity from every one of the staff. Karra (sorry if we mis spelled your name) was our intake nurse and being the first point of contact with the hospital, she set the bar incredibly high with her care and attention towards my husband, and therefore minimising his anxiety regarding his upcoming surgery. Her warmth and kindness was clearly an indication of her dedication towards her craft as a nurse caring for individuals in our community. Once on the post Surgery ward, my husband was cared for with care and dignity and he felt really seen and individualised as a person, not a “patient”. As a retired nurse myself I may have very high expectations for a craft that has always required dedication and commitment to a wide range of residents in our community. I can assure you that we should be very proud of the level of professionalism displayed here at PAH We have always supported the PAH Foundation but until this experience, we never needed this facility. Thankyou to every personnel that we encountered. My husband is glad to be home and healing. ❤️‍🩹

I went there with numbness in my arm and leg. they send me home with Advil. Doctor did nothing to examinating my body just to mention i have a history of blood pressure and hearth problem and back pain he said i have some nerve system issue he diagnose me with out even check me or tuching my hand or my back . funny he said go to your family doctor or search in google to find what can make your numbness better. I thought hospital is for emergency situation but not in peace arch they just get pay for nothing. my family doctor wasn't available and I didn't have choice. don't go their because it is just wasting of your time

Came here with my mom for emergency. The long wait is a whole different thing, but the way the doctor treated us was horrible. He was a bald man. After he checked us, he left and never came back to us to tell us if we could leave or stay nor did he come back to brief us/diagnose us. So after waiting for 2 hours, I asked him politely as he walked by if he was done and we could leave. He rolled his eyes and said “I don’t know. Do Whatever the hell you want” and left. I stood there shocked. I understand that as doctors you face lots of stress and overtime. But treating a patient that way is unacceptable. If you don’t like your job, then perhaps it’s time to retire!

Came here at 11pm to get some stitches removed. The ER maybe three other people in it, and it took over FIVE HOURS, yes FIVE HOURS to get stitches removed. What a waist of my time for a THREE MINUET task.

Honestly the worst hospital !!! The nurses are lazy and lack knowledge and I would love to know where they received their education . Lack compassion of any kind. The hospital is behind the times and definitely needs an upgrade. Also very very dirty. Would never have any family member receive treatment of any kind there again.

Came in with severe back pain, could hardly walk in. First check ins were great and quick, enter the eR and it’s downhill. I was told to supply a urine sample and I did. They then told me to wait till my name is called and bring it up. 3 hours later they never called so I had a Pee cup in my pocket for 3 hours. You never gave me pain meds like I was told I was going to. You’re reception desk is so unbelievably rude and clearly are there for a paycheque. I don’t care about hearing about your recent trip to Orlando, the Bahamas’s and whatever other place. One lady complained on the wait time and she replies “ we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives so go sit down “ Lucky I didn’t step up. Total abuse of whatever power you think you have. I walked out after being told by the older blonde lady that it wasn’t a jail and I’m free to leave. Horrible attitudes and I will never go back here again and will let everyone else know not to waste a moment of life here. Joke

Waited 4hrs for xrays, they lost my file. Triage nurse was straight up angry at everyone and everything. I have bronchitis and just need medication to breathe properly. It's a bit of a social club here for the staff!!! Lots of chitchat and exchanging tasty goodies, just mind blowing considering everyone around them is suffering and hurting.

Worst freeken experience. Never come here if u want to be treated well. I came in on the nurses line recommendations that i am like moderately to severely dehydrated, with chest pains and should see a doctor asap. I told the triage nurse that and she bottom fed me. It wasn't busy at all. People that came in after me went in well before me. I couldnt stop shaking, vomited bile in the bathroom twice while i waited. I just needed fluids. So absolutely ridiculous. 4 hours and counting.

One star does not even begin to cover how horrific my visit to the emergency was. Never in my adult life have I felt so unsafe in the presence of another woman. The nurse who helped me was cruel, rude, unable to listen, and threatened to catharized me as a punishment because I could kept the water down she wanted me to drink for a test. The reason I came in was extreme nausea and I thought hospitals helped sick people not refuse them care and threaten them with bodily harm. When I told her I did not apricate the threat she rolled her eyes, shrugged, looked me in the eyes and said "I get that, but ill do what I have to do". Less than 20 minuets later the Dr came in and told me drinking water was not necessary as they already had everything they needed, which they got from me hours prior. I genuinely do not understand how a hospital can employ such a careless, cruel, and disgusting human being. Not having any consideration for another person or understanding trauma informed care. This is not only a failure on this specific nurse but any hospital staff who allow her to continue to practice and their inability to keep patients safe in their hospital. The fear I felt from her threat to forcibly insert something into that part of my body was unimaginable and triggering. This happened a month ago. I write this as a warning to other patients. Please know that this woman works here and is permitted to operate in such a manner.

Worst hospital. Called 911 with medical emergency. They took me to the emergency Ward. I was lying down on the floor with pain and they did nothing at all. Waited around 4 hours to get to the doctor. At the time, my pain was gone. I kept saying to one of their staff members that I have difficulty breathing and they replied back by saying "then how are you able to speak?". This is Canadian Health system. Worst than third world countries. Please aviod this hospital if you can.

I recently had an asthmatic crisis. I also had just recently recovered from COVID. When I arrived at PAH's ER around 6 am, I found the focus was on my well-being. I was eventually admitted to the 6th Floor North around 9 pm. My stay lasted five full days. It readily became apparent that staffing was insufficient, and, despite these challenges, staff worked hard to care for patients while maintaining their professionalism and kindness. I witnessed several incidents over my stay when the team exercised restraint and civility in the face of several challenging patient care incidents. "Angels" is an accurate description of PAH nursing staff! Equally, the medical staff was thorough and caring about my emotional and physical well-being. I returned home better than I had been in 6 or 7 months prior! In these challenging times, I appreciate this is not a hotel but a medical care facility. I rate them excellent!

We came on a "slow night" there was only a total of 11 of us in the waiting area, despite telling the nurses repeatedly that my dad was short of breathe, in pain & a diabetic that hasn't eaten in x amount of hours besides one nurse there wasn't any urgency, we understand that there maybe others who are more hurt but what does making us wait 7hrs accomplish? There's no organization what's so ever. What if had something happened? Would the payout bring back my dad had anything happened? Please do not come here unless you want to get ignored. There's no such thing as any type of triage. It's currently 8am I've been here since 1am we are currently still waiting.

I'm sorry to hear all the bad reviews for this hospital but I've been here 3 times now for a chronic gastritis issue and I have to say I've always gotten amazing nurses and doctors! All 3 times I was in and out within 4-5 hours. At any other hospital that's usually how long the wait in the ER is alone but here I wait, get seen and treated! Big thank you to the staff here!

This is for the medical daycare /outpatient clinic department - one of the ladies is extremely rude there. I called to inquire about a requisition my doctor sent for iron infusions, they claimed they didn't receive it. I called my doctor's office and they got confirmation that they did get it. I called medical daycare back and the lady just kept talking over me. Wouldn't let me get a word in. I've had iron infusions multiple times there and have had wonderful nurses. All I wanted was clarity on the process and to confirm they received the requisition that my doctor's office faxed yet again. This women just kept talking a million miles a minute not letting me speak. I finally asked her to please let me get a word in and she just kept telling me the waitlist was long and I needed to wait for my appointment. That was completely fine with me as I understand I have to wait but just trying to understand when I could expect to hear from them was like trying to pull teeth. I couldn't get a straight answer from this women. Kindness and understanding goes a long way. If your so busy that you can't take a minute for a patient then maybe find a new line of work. So many front line workers have lost their basic communication skills and compassion for people in their care.

Waited 10+ hrs overnight. They had only 1 doctor in emergency( how that’s possible idk) there were also 3 nurses at the beginning but 2 of them disappeared and never came back. The other nurse was actually seen and was doing work (taking blood, etc…) One of the nurses everyone thought went home because she wasn’t seen after 12:30 at the desk in emergency. (Emergency desk was empty all night not a single nurse) Honestly go somewhere else this place has gotten bad and you can see the decline of the health care system.

I am writing on behalf of my now deceased Grandmother. While some staff go above and beyond in their duties (especially the emergency staff), others put their egos ahead of their duty to care. Medicines were given without proper advice or consultation, test results written incorrectly, and overall horrible communication resulting in a death. They responded to patient choking by 1st moving the sitting patient to a lying position and putting a breathing mask on her. I think they need to review their ABC's. Airway is number one.... Not your ego. You know who you are. Could have saved her life but you decided instead to ask for ADA approvals repeatedly (over 12x). Thanks for caring!

The emergency department is fabulous. They were all kind, concerned, and so helpful. I love that there is humour there as that really helped me. I was happy , so happy to stay there for whatever time it took for someone to come to help me. I was treated wonderfully and as the day progressed into a few hours I was released with a smile on my face. I want the Doctors, Nurses and all staff in emergency to know that they are loved and appreciated! You are all a 10/10 in my book. Thank you for taking care of me!

Where is your SOCIAL DISTANCING???????? I would give it a negative star if there was that option. There is no social distancing when you go to emergency dept at this hospital. The staff at the front desk was rude - lacked any compassion in that position. I understand that this is a very stressful time to be working in the hospitals.....but the fact is that we depend on you and feel that we give our lives in your hand once we enter those doors of the hospital. You took that job by choice and we applaud you - but treat people like you want to be treated.

I had to go in to the Emergency at Peace Arch hospital on 3 different occasions with an extreme amount of Pain before it was finally determined that my Gallbladder needed to come out because it had turned Gangrene. I was disappointed that I had to go thru all this extreme pain for over a month before finally Dr Chang determined I needed Surgery Immediately. He had me operated on within hours of his diagnosis (🙏). Wonderful Surgeon and fabulous Dr. I cannot praise him enough ! People told me that Peace Arch was not the best place in the would but I beg to differ. Once I had the Surgery I was placed in the hands of a Nurse by the name of (MJ). She was a breath of fresh air, she is truly what a nurse should emulate to be, a wonderful person inside and out. She works 12 hr days but you would never know it because she does not bring this on to her patients. I was concerned when she finished her week that I was loosing her, and low and behold along comes Spencer just as wonderful as MJ. I don’t know whom or where you young ladies trained but what a wonderful job they have done. Peace Arch Hosp consider yourself very lucky to have them. Dr Chang, MJ, Spencer ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my short stay a memorable one. 🙏

I have been to Peace Arch Hospital on a few occasions, one for surgery in November 2019, and although the wait times can be literally excruciating due to what is obviously a staff shortage, the staff were pleasant and professional, even humorous at a time when I could use a good laugh. The surgery went well and I was back to work within the expected time. My ONLY complaint was with the radiologist who was ignorant and rude, embarrassingly so to the young female intern who was there forced to work with him. Other than that, I would recommend this hospital to anyone as they have learned to do a great deal with very little

I went to the emergency with a suddent belly pain and I can barely breathe at that time. The nurse at the front desk was so nice and kind (shout out to Kim) and I was arranged in a room shortly. There were many patients waiting to be treated but the doctor was so patient to me and did every possible ways to help me feel better and comfortable. I had a ct scan, blood work, eeg tests to make sure he had me fully examined. It surprised me today cause the dr called to follow up with me to see if I am doing well now. I am grateful for everything the staffs and doctors have done for me! Thank you so much!!!

I recently had the opportunity to visit the CT scan facility at Peace Arch Hospital, and I was extremely impressed by the level of care and attention that I received. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth, efficient, and professional, which really put my mind at ease. The staff at the CT scan facility were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel comfortable and at ease throughout my visit. They took the time to explain each step of the process to me and answered all of my questions with patience and understanding. They were also very knowledgeable and skilled, which helped to make the whole experience seamless and stress-free. The facility itself was top-notch, with state-of-the-art equipment and comfortable surroundings. Everything was clean, well-organized, and clearly marked, which helped to make the process easy to follow and understand. And even though I was only there for a short time, I could tell that the staff take great pride in their work and are dedicated to providing the highest quality care to each and every patient who comes through their doors. Overall, I can't recommend the CT scan facility and department at Peace Arch Hospital highly enough. If you're looking for a reliable and professional place to get your imaging needs met, this is definitely the place to go. The staff are amazing, the facility is top-notch, and the care is truly exceptional. Thank you to everyone at Peace Arch Hospital for the wonderful experience!

I had a short overnight stay at this hospital. I ended up getting transferred to a different hospital because they listened to my story and thought the other hospital would get me the test faster on the weekend. While at this hospital, I was driven to get my car from the park the ambulance picked me up from by the doctor himself. I found the nurses and doctors were kind, thoughtful and cared about me and my story (it was a strange one lol). Pretty good experience here.

Parking - subpar system, you can’t stack payment, to get your money’s worth you have to wait until your parking is about to expire, THEN add more time. If you stay long enough they give subsidized parking pass for NICU parents, which makes it a little nicer. Maternity - very nice rooms, they’ve been clean and spacious both times I’ve been there in the last 2 years. Nice staff that’s helpful, caring and friendly.

The best hospital in Langley or Surrey by light years! Cleaner, better staff and physicians, better facilities, better equipped, better managed, more efficient and effective, and better chances of leaving healthier than you went in. Parking is exorbitant (hence four stars instead of five). Of you have to go to a hospital in Langley or Surrey, choose Peace Arch for your best chance of effective medical care!

Their not allowing visitors due to Covid-19 which is understandable but gets a bit tough for people that need help or someone to talk to during their visit because it does take time. Overall experience was amazing, the nurses are understanding and very nice! They do take the time to listen to your problems and do take you seriously compared to past experiences with other hospitals. Got in and out of the ER within 2 hours which is amazing. No complaints at all. Best hospital service from my experience!

Unbelievable great service. Our special needs son needed an xray and there was an almost 2 hour wait. There is absolutely no way he could sit for 2hours. The staff recognized the issue and got him into the xray room in minutes!! The tech was so accommodating also. Great work Peace Arch Hospital!!!! So thankful as so many do not realize the issues parents and support workers face on a daily basis.

I waited 6 hours in emergency for stitches for my finger and at the end of it they put on the smallest bandaid I’ve ever seen on it and now 3 days later it’s still bleeding off and on. I had no idea urgent care existed until now and if someone working there would have just told me about urgent care then I wouldn’t have wasted any more space in their waiting room only to have them quickly splash some cleaning solution on my finger and give me a few of those small sticky wraps for my finger, which I ran out of within the first day. Highly disappointing that the front desk didn’t suggest urgent care to me, or atleast the nurse who saw me first after 4 hours. Other than that I’m giving 2 stars because 90% of the staff was super friendly.

Thank you to the amazing Peace Arch nurses and doctors on 6N who took such good care of my father during his final days. You were each so kind and attentive, making sure my Dads pain was managed, he was showered each day and family was kept well informed. There was an especially lovely nurse who would tuck my dad into bed with a heated blanket and hugged my mom when my dad passed. You were such a blessing during a difficult time. We are so thankful for our community hospital and the staff. ❤️

I am absolutely impressed with the service at Peace Arch Hospital. I was brought in by Ambulance today at roughly 3:45pm. The Paramedics were top notch. They had me triaged and down to X-rays in no time. The X-Ray lady was wonderful, compassionate and had excellent bedside manner. Both gentlemen who transported me to/from X-Rays were kind, compassionate and polite. Saw Dr Behboudi afterwards and wow, this Dr is absolutely incredible!! My only issue now is figuring out how to show this hospital much I appreciate the way they treated me after my slip and fall.

On June 8th of this year, I was admitted to the Fourth Floor cardiac ward. It was a scary time! Everyone from first line reception, Emergency Doctors, Nurses and all medical staff were wonderful! Once admitted, I received excellent care. I can’t tell you how much each person is appreciated. Every ambulance driver/ paramedic, lab professional, pharmacist, ECG technician, food service expert, Nurse and Doctor is to be commended. Like other cardiac patients, I went to Royal Columbian Hospital for an Angiogram. The people there were also excellent. I felt like I mattered! Thank-you! I am currently a member of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme. Again, everyone on the team is so kind and professional. We are a fortunate community, indeed!!

Always great since '68 for our family.Three children, five gran children, three great grand children all born here plus surgeries over the years all done here. No hospital is perfect but Peace Arch does an excellent job.

I took a friend in to Emerg today. Even though it was busy we were handled quite efficiently. Triage and labs were done and we had xrays as well. Then we moved into the nursing area to wait for the Doctor assessment. There we met Marie the geriatric nurse attending to seniors. She was very friendly and helpful. Her demeanor helped to reduce my friends anxiety. Marie was also very helpful with information. She presented herself very professionally showing complete attention to my friends condition and was very empathetic. There was no rush to complete her assessment and she organized various needs to address my friends comfort while we waited for the Doctor. Our time in total at Peace Arch was about 3 hours. Compliments to the Administration for running such an efficient and friendly hospital.

My wife has been at Peace Arch for a planned operation and an unrelated emergency visit in the last two months. The care has been of the first order and the consideration by doctors and nurses has been beyond reproach. We recommend and congratulate the hospital and staff on their excellent work.

Surgical daycare NIGHT nurses were horrible. They were too busy gossiping to pay attention to their patients. I had a warning go off on my machine twice which they couldn’t hear because they were talking so loud. When the nurse did come back, she commented on how it was good that it hadn’t gone off. We had to tell her it had gone off. I ended up be admitted and stayed overnight.

The hospital is nice, but the staff is great to communicate with, no mappter how nice you are. They are frustrated with their personal live to the 10000 level. They should understand what field they are in and they need to be soft while talking. Please look for other options before coming to this place

I just wanted to send a great big thank you to the Emergency Room staff at Peace Arch Hospital, as well as to the Radiology and MRI staff. I just spent 3 days at the hospital and while there was some prolonged waiting for reports to be received, I have to say, overall, I was treated with nothing but respect, compassion and professionalism. Each and every medical student, nurse, lab tech, radiology tech and doctor were kind, open to discussions and completely made me feel like I was in the best place possible at the time I needed to be there. Only short one star because the CAT SCAN report took a bit longer to be received than anyone could have anticapted but sometimes stuff happens! I had enough time there to hear how everyone treated all the ER patients, including myself and all I can say is THANKYOU for your commitment to our community. You have a very demanding job and I cannot imagine how challenging it must get at times? You all rock, in my humble opinion!

Horrible experience, my husband died of respiratory failure due to untreated pneumonia while in care at Oceanside. Doctors in Emergency did not call me to explain the seriousness of my husband's condition and did not put him on life support. I arrived at the hospital early morning and demanded they try a mechanical respirator but it was declined because doctors decided it wasn't worth it. I was stripped of my legal rights to make health decisions on my husband's behalf.

The nurses at PAH are very nice and professional. I also found the Doctor knew what he was doing and he didn't take any short cuts unlike doctors in some of the bigger hospitals. The only complains that I have is that everything takes sooooooo loooooong! I was there for over 8 hours, and the cafeteria (which is run by Timmies) closes at 3pm. I had serious coffee withdraws.

A very well run hospital with new operating rooms and some covid protocols. Lab technicians at the outpatient area were rude but the Ambulatory Day Surgery depth was very good.

My 76 year old mother (Angela) insisted I write a review since she isn’t tech savvy to write one herself. She lives in Langley but always goes to Peace Arch Hospital if she needs to go to the ER for her serious heart issues. She went in last Thursday and she wants the nurses and doctors that were working that day to know that she had such great service and compassion from each of you. She couldn’t stop talking about how great you all were and kept reminding me until I wrote this. Thank you for doing what you all do, and doing it with integrity and compassion!

One of the best hospitals. I spent 8 hours in emergency room but I’m not going to complain about the time I had to spent. Important is all the staff were very busy, still attentive, professional and kind. I was so impressed by how all the nurses and doctors worked so hard yet kind and well behaved. I’m grateful, because those 8 hours I witnessed elders, sick, people in pain and that itself is a great life lesson. It was also an opportunity to meet people of the community and be able to be sympathetic and kind. Thanks to all the hospital staff for their commitment and service to community.

I had an MRI at 1:45 am, and every staff member I came in contact with was so kind and helpful. The Covid-19 protocols were excellent. The woman who checked me in was wonderful and very helpful. The man who did my MRI was patient with my attempts to get comfortable and made me feel calm and relaxed during the procedure. The overall experience was so much better than I anticipated - big thanks to the overnight MRI team!

Didn't have such a great experience here. Only good thing was I was out in 4 hrs compared to the 6 or 8 hrs in SMH. I wish though there was a separate door for people who wanted to get a COVID test done instead of coming in through the emergency way. I think there were two people who came for COVID testing and they were walking around in the waiting room before being taken in. The doctor was discussing my issue so loudly that I could hear them. One nurse was so rude to me. She could learn from the nurse Kevin that works there. He is the best nurse ever. He is compassionate, kind, patient and very understanding. Clearly he loves his job and helping people. I wish they had more nurses like him.

What a wonderful experience I had at the Peace Arch Hospital June 17 2023. A Lot of people think that you have to be serious and grim at work. Wrong! You are there 8 hours a day. If everyone is happy, the productivity will be higher. Everyone there including the lady who answered the phone, were all smiles and totally caring, helpful and involved. Courtney who did all my paperwork was a sheer delight and I was lucky she handled my case. All three ladies gave me a 5 star treatment. Can't even call it service, It was like family; like helping each other. The lady who actually slide me in that scary machine was funny indeed and made me relaxed. I considered that horrible sound as different tones of music. Thanks, Ladies for making my visit to a Hospital a great one.

My friend's nose were bleeding really badly. He had a cut on the top of the nose after he fall and hit the floor. The emergency doesn't take it seriously. They put him into zone 3 and wanted him to take an X Ray. We have had waited for 4 hours. From 4:00 am to 8:00 am. We were the only patient in that hospital. That nurse was laughing at us. The Service was terrible.

I'm writing this complaint review on behalf of my sister, who had a crucial IV appointment for iron transmission while being 7 months pregnant. Our unfortunate experience began when we arrived at the clinic 15 minutes late, with 5 minutes of that time being wasted on a phone conversation with their receptionist. The remaining 2-3 minutes were spent at the registration desk. In total, we were only 6-7 minutes late, primarily because we initially parked in the wrong parking area. To our dismay, the clinic staff showed no understanding or flexibility regarding our slight delay. We even requested to be squeezed into their schedule, assuring them that we were willing to wait in case of appointment cancellations. Shockingly, they refused any assistance, despite the receptionist admitting that they typically do not perform IV treatments there. We had booked an early, albeit small, spot due to the urgency of my sister's situation, given her pregnancy. It's baffling to think that being 6-7 minutes late led to us being turned away from the clinic. Clinics and hospitals should prioritize patient care above all else, rather than rigidly enforcing discipline. As taxpayers, we entrust these institutions with our well-being, paying into the system for precisely this reason. Our experience with Peace Arch Outpatient was wholly disappointing and deserves a thumbs-down rating.

As a physician, I understand the tremendous strain on the health care system. We are living in a time that is unprecedented especially when it comes to health care. I took a close friend to the White Rock Peace Arch Emergency last night . He was gasping for air and was cyanotic ( blue colour from lack of oxygen ). He collapsed on the floor in front of the intake clerk. She insisted that he give her his BC Healthcare card . I shouted that he needed to be put on a stretcher and assisted immediately. My friend kept shouting “ I am going to faint”. She would not do anything without his card . Luckily he was conscious enough to find his card . I kept telling her I was a physician but she paid no attention. 2 security guards and myself had to lift him up by his legs and arms and put his slumped body into a wheelchair. Of course I was very emotional and raised my voice but tried to explain details to the clerk. She would not listen and said I was verbally abusing her and asked the security guard to remove me from the hospital. I gave her my contact phone number and left without further incident. My friend was subsequently intubated ( breathing tube in his lungs ) .and taken to the intensive care unit. While there is no excuse for rudeness on my part but the clerk should have quickly realized the situation called for assistance by the Emergency staff as well as an intervener to calm both of us down but MORE IMPORTANTLY to find out details of the patient as well as to verify my status. No one ever called me to ask details. When I called the Emergency staff a few hours later the initial reaction was quite hostile until the nurse verified that indeed I was a registered physician. The intake clerk in the Emergency Department should receive remedial training and there should be a mechanism in place such as a panic button to deal with similar problems. I am by no means looking for an apology or excuses but this scenario I suspect is not all that uncommon . Staff working in this area need to realize not everyone entering is a drug overdose or an abusive alcoholic. Have workers in the Health Care System become so desensitized that there is no such thing as compassion? I sincerely hope that for the sake of the White Rock Hospital this is a one off situation.
