Other than 375/-per plate price , everything was good , It's traditional theme restaurant Usually crowded but you get space after little wait. Worth a try 😋 Ordered Baati chokha thali and khichdi thali.. Chutneys are very flavourful.

A traditional place in Varanasi where chutneys and spices are grinding by them only. Authentic taste, gives typical village feels. Nice ambiance but waiting time is too much. Very crowded place. Nice taste. Nice ambiance. I ordered special baati chokha combo where I got 2 baati, dal rice chokha ghee chutney pickle churna/kheer as asked served in clay pots. The baati also has options - plain/paneer/sattu.

This restaurant can be located easily. One can also purchase handmade spices from here. The food is tasty. It also follows the traditional Indian culture of eating food by sitting on the floor. The manager is also a very down to earth person. Even the prices are affordable.

This is a famous Desi style restaurant in Varanasi. You will feel the experience of villages. You will be sitting on the floor and the food will be served in traditional style. Two sides of the restaurant where in one you will have option to order food per your choice and pay per billing amount and in another side you will have to pay per person. I would say the ambience was nice but not very much satisfied with the food. They charge ₹275 per person which is fine however taste and quality can be improved. Sharing few photographs with you.

Would be posting a genuine review of my visit to the restaurant. I am not sure that may be as a north Indian I was not able to enjoy the taste of the food but we ordered Baati , Chokha , Daal and Kheer. If you are just going to taste the local cuisine do not order too much. The Chokha tasted very flat no taste what so ever. Daal was just average and kheer was below average and unnecessary expensive too in a very small portion. The staff needs to be trained as no professionalism what so ever in how to welcome , serve or attend guests. Even denied to accept cards and digital payments. Place felt not so clean there was water all over the place. Just they have constructed it very nicely in the start and the forgotten every other aspect.

Batti Chokha in Varanasi is renowned for serving the finest thali, offering an authentic dining experience that truly captures the essence of the region. With a range of thali options to choose from, this place ensures there is something for everyone. To enhance the desi ambiance, you can enjoy your meal in a traditional floor setting, immersing yourself in the local culture. The warm and welcoming staff further enhances the overall experience. If you're planning a visit to Varanasi, Batti Chokha is an absolute must-visit destination.

Well after a while I've had such a grand treat. The food was great and even the ambience was traditional and unique. The Special thali is a very well balanced and delicious combo and I highly recommend it. The price is also reasonable unlike some other places that I visited recently. Do add this place to your checklist when visiting Varanasi.

I loved it 🤩 it was amazing. We had litti chokha combo and we loved it so much. We ordered two combo of Little chokha one was Paneer litti and another was Sattu litti. It was well served in Pattal made out of green leaf, Litti of big size served with chokha in Clay pot. Chopped onion, tomato 🍅 chutney, Micha ka salan, Mirch Fried, Daal chawal and nicely baked Desert. The food was enough for 4 people and we loved it.

Food is delicious and the sitting arrangement is awesome, but the cost is so high, and waiter service is very slow...!! Washroom area is very dirty, bahar to saf safai hai lekin andar washroom me bhi saf safai karwa diya kijiye Wheelchair accebile entrance not available here, physically challenged person can not reach at first floor without lift, so kindly I request to Restaurant owner to make a lift for his restaurant Please improve your management and staff..!!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

One of best place in Varansi for hangout with traditional environment. We did lunch with family. Ambiance was good but there was a smell coming from their huts. Vetor told us that they applied thiner on the huts. Overall experience of food and facilities was good.

You need to remove shoes at the entrance. There is floor sitting and table sitting too for those who are unable to sit on floor. Nicely decorated. Food is very heavy. Though it is unlimited refills but sweet dish is served once only otherwise you can pay extra to have more.

This place a must visit if you are a food lover. They grind spices on their own and make chutneys by themselves. Love the theme of the place. The food is just amazing. Very tasty and fulfilling. Cost is worth the quantity and quality.

Everything was good in terms of food but the service was pathetic. It turned awkward at the time of bill payment as I paid what they told me without giving me the bill..when I asked for the bill copy, they were hesitant and once I was handed over the copy, I noticed they charged me Rs. 20 extra...On confronting them they were stern and without any apology, very rudely asked to take back the extra money charged. It was a very nominal amount to take back, but it definitely breaks the trust of the customer and brings down the reputation. Not sure if they are fooling every customer like this or not, but I would suggest everyone to always recheck the bill amount. Lastly, I wish owners will take care of this issue if they really want to avoid negative reviews for the restaurant

The place is amazing. It's a must visit when you are in Varanasi. I have been in love with this place since it's opening in 2012. You are going to get an amazing experience there. You will taste authentic traditional Purabia food and experience here at one place. I am just short on words about the place. Just one line at the end, go there yourself and experience the un experienced. And oh forgot to mention, it's budget friendly.

It's a beautiful fine-dine place. It will give you a feeling of the old tradition of "bhoj" (banquet) where there are dim lights, lamps, charpai, a setup where people are sitting on the floor and eating on a small table. The food will be served on a patta (Leaf plate)l. You cannot share a thali, they will cost you per person. And yes, food has good taste. You may not wish to miss this place of you are around.

The food was awesome but it was equally over priced. The taste was authentic the ambiance was mesmerizing and i would highly recommend anyone visiting varnasi to try this place at lease on e. But still i would say charging 450₹ for baati chokha is too much.

The ambience is decent. It is designed to feel like a village with floor seating, lalten decoration, mud walls, traditional paintings etc. Food is fine, although be informed that there's chilli in almost every item, so if you don't love spicy food, be sure to pick chilli out before taking a bite. The only con I can think of is service. If unfortunately you land in the Resturant during prime time (such as weekends or dinner time), you will have to stand for atleast 45 mins. Before you can find a table. Also since there is no early booking of table situation here, you have to plan your meal time accordingly. Also, even though there are very less waiters, there speed is spectacular and they serve almost everything as soon as you sit down. So I have reduced 1* only because of the mismanagement that is happening in this Resturant.

Very pretty place with great authentic Bihari food and rural decor. We had litti chokha, kadhi chawal, kalaunji, dal handi, and all were amazing. And it was the smallest accompaniments which made all the difference— the tamatar chutney, lassi and chaach were AMAZING. The food is served in eco-friendly pattal (leaf) plates and drinks in mitti kullads. If anything, I'd strongly urge the restaurant to add more staff and speed up their service. However, must try place if you go or are in Varanasi.

Awesome place. Food is very tasty and hygienic too. Best place for baati chokha. The way they serve is very unique. Also the place is decorated in a very desi style and the infrastructure is decent and classic. Foods are available at affordable price. Also it's a very busy place so make sure you have enough time😉 The staff is very friendly and can solve all of your queries. It's a family restaurant so good to go👍 Overall the place is very good, clean, hygienic and the food is very delicious. Must visit this place😘 🙏🔱

A well known eatery for local cuisine. Have a standard menu with minor variations - served as fixed combo meals. Seating is on floor and served well (few tables are available, if you require. Would recommend seating down to eat). The classical masala bhatti is great. The manager takes personal care to explain and how to eat these cuisine (don't hesitate to ask them). Food is served on all recyclable materials (leaves, mud cups). Must try for all. A great place to try local cuisine.

Best to not have any breakfast and only go for lunch. The Food is the highlight of the place . They only have 4 variations of thalis each so so so delicious and so so heavy that it's unbelievable. The decor is also very good and worth visiting for that only. They have a system of sitting on the floor with individual small tables and also have a few high table for people who cannot manage that. The food is incredible , just the rice n dal was special. Highly recommended parking is available in the compound (paid)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this hidden gem of a restaurant, and I can't stop raving about it! From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the unique charm and delicious local flavors. The menu offered a delightful surprise with a special combo of Litti Chokha that left my taste buds in awe. The flavors were simply authentic, and it's clear that the chef knows how to make this traditional dish shine. The sumptuous combo option was a perfect choice for those like me who wanted to savor the best of local cuisine. What sets this restaurant apart is not just the food but also the ambiance. The retro-style seating arrangements add a touch of nostalgia that makes dining here an experience to remember. It's a perfect blend of modern comfort and old-world charm. The menu is a treasure trove of local delicacies, offering a wide range of options for every palate. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. If you're looking for an exceptional culinary journey through local flavors, set in a unique and inviting atmosphere, this restaurant is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for another memorable meal. Highly recommended for foodies and anyone looking to explore the true essence of local cuisine with a touch of retro elegance!

Everytime I visit Varanasi, I go to this place. And I always have the same special litti chokha thali. Costs just 290 and is capable to fill you up till dinner. Just make sure whenever you visit this place you have enough space. Now coming to the contents of thali. It have one paneer and one sattu bati. They are big and heavy, plus the ghee served will fill you up. Plus the onion tomato etc chutney and green chutney will add flavour to it. The daal is just simple yet full of flavours, have it with rice and ghee and you will enjoy the simple yet elite taste.. To end with tasty kheer is there. Plus the ambience is good and matches to a village theme. The only disappointing part is their service which is slow and can irritate you at times.. Rest everything is good.

  • 2/5 abhinanda b. 4 months ago on Google
Average to below averages food, unprofessional service good ambience high price kind of sums up our experience here. Priced at about 450/- per person per thali it's quite high. The chokha was below average, chatni was full of raw garlic. The banarasi alu dam had zero salt. The mix veg and paneer was strictly average. Service was slow and we literally had to call them twice for every filling/refilling. The ambience is good and is good for a photo op. Otherwise,Best avoidable.
