It is the only veg restaurant seen around (it is considered as veg despite of having egg items on the menu, as it doesnt have beef). No other options for vegetarians. Arrogant guy who takes order (the guy look like nepali). He makes fun of indian customers. He doesn't even bother to attend even after calling him. A keraliate guy who speaks hindi was better and kind. But still they have a clear descrimination between indian and foreigners as customers. Food safety: be very careful where or which table you sit. There are bats hanging in trees. Their droppings are very very dangerous if you dont notice it. Items on the menu are limited, price is justified as compared to other similar outlets/places. Have to adjust with taste and quality as no other options.

One of the few vegetarian options to dine in this neighbourhood. Easily reachable via car, since this outlet sits just at the beginning of Varkala Beach market adjacent to Helipad, and there’s plenty of space to park your car nearby. It’s an outdoor diner with 7-8 tables, food is average and competitively priced. Service was prompt, and there was no problems speaking in Hindi too. So this is ideal for pure vegetarian people who have zero tolerance to non-veg items cooking in the same kitchen, they can surely visit this one, otherwise there are much better options in this neighbourhood that serve great veg/non-veg under the same roof. We didn’t return after our first attempt. PS: You’ll anyway have to bear with the smell of seafood or non-veg cooking all around.

Not much good to say about this place. The staff is in the first place arrogant (with a big smile, literally the worst), and the plates and glasses are very filthy. The toilet doesn't have soap, so that probably says alot about the general hygiëne. The card has a good size. It mentions on the front page that -if you're vegan-, you can mention. If you, later on, ask to 'veganise' a meal you get a 'no'. A lot of products on the map aren't available either. Chefs are not willing to make something from the card outside of their 'hours'. Better don't dare to ask for idly or dosa around 1pm, because you'll get a short 'NO' ;)

The options of vegetarian attracted but a failed choice. Staff are rude and they behave as if they will speak only English and has shown racism to Indian customers. Serving staff who looked like Nepali was arrogant and has was not really trying to help the customers. Finally I had to approach the cook who was a keralite guy to get my request acknowledged. Because of this guy only I would not recommend the restaurant to any visitors.

Everyone is annoyed by the service of the owner and it's true. He openly told us he doesn't care about any feedback because it's only the veg restaurant in the surroundings. I suggest vegetarians who stay in hostels cook in kitchen. This place has no value. There are egg items available in this so called veg restaurant. The fried rice he gave was the worst and it's just uncooked rice with unwanted things.

Worst food, worst ambience. It looked as if they deliberately prepared & served us the worst food in the world. Wash basin reminds of that scene from a haunted movie. Table clothes are slightly cleaner than the door mats. Visit only if you want to have diarrhea.

Sorry to say it was a bad experience. I don’t tolerate milk and they say on the menu if you’re vegan please let us know. They didn’t know what vegan meant though. And asked what I meant. Then they served me a curry which was milky. I asked for the ingredients and they said the cream comes from powder so I asked for the packet if it’s powdered milk but they said the packet is now finished. And didn’t show me. I didn’t eat it. If you’re looking for home made authentic food don’t go there. Also they didn’t have most of things on their menu. And also gave me a different food I ordered.

The most rude staff and service I have experienced, for no reason whatsoever. Despite my thank yous and please to them. Save yourself from being mistreated and humiliated and avoid this place if possible Other new vegetarian options are in fact available at a little distance from if you are willing to go another Kilometre of so away from North cliff.

I can't say what happens at dinner time, since I went there for lunch and decided not to go again. Anything which was written on the menu wasn't available, so they brought me a veg meal that was already ready (as the waiter said) that was cold and not yummy at all. The staff was rude and lazy, annoyed by me not having the perfect amount of the bill, because they had no change (the difference on what paid was 50 rupies!!). There is such a great of choice of restaurants around that there is really no reason to go here.

Not sure if this place is still open. We were visiting Varkala beach and were planning to have lunch here, as it seems to be the only vegetarian restaurant on the cliff. However, when we were walking towards the hotel, we saw that this place was deserted, appeared to be closed. It was around 3pm on a Sunday.

First visited this place in 2009. Used to be a great place for veg food. The older waiter guy was really friendly and helpful but things went downhill when the younger nasty Nepali waiter arrived. One time, asked for pasta and one hour later I was served a plate of pasta with a few strips of carrot in it. Problem for me is that in the long waiting times you are exposed to others smoking. Eventually changed to better place in Temple Road

We visited here in December 2019 and again this week. We had a lovely experience in 2019 and had wonderful kerala dishes like Avial, alu podimas etc. This time the menu was similar to last time. In fact the menu said please inform in advance if you are vegan. Was quite excited to see this. When we asked about the dishes in the menu , the waiter and the manager said nothing vegan is available and that the kerala dishes and thali listed in the menu are not available. The staff were curt too. We didn't and won't go there any more. We found other good options nearby.

Wud’ve given negative stars if there was an option… worst service ever… the guy just ignored us not once but thrice… there are other veg restaurants if you walk towards the temple for like a kilometre.

One of the best restaurants in the cliff. Went for breakfast and dinner the waiting time was very high due to lack of employees. Food taste, quality and quantity was good. Prices are reasonable.

  • 5/5 Moritz U. 11 months ago on Google
Wonderful food, friendly staff, very fair prices for the cliff. Plus it's the only veg restaurant there as far as I know. North and South Indian dishes are both tasty, though their specialty is certainly the North Indian fare. Good masala chai as well. For those who are concerned: It's clean! I've eaten here many times over more than thirteen years, on three separate visits, and have never had any negative effect on my digestive system.

Food is definitely not good as per varkala standards but prices are as high as other restaurants. Worst is service, waiter is rude and unnecessarily tries to act smart. They refused to give hot milk in glass and gave in cup citing rising covid cases whereas none of restaurants in area had put any such restrictions. Juices were being given in glasses n food was given with spoon, No covid in those cases?? Seems waiter had taken dope or something.

Good vegetarian restaurant option available at Varkala. Tried capsicum pokora, banana shake and masala toast all of them were really good. Will visit again whenever possible. It's very difficult to find veg options in Varkala, but this restaurant is great place for vegans. Great ambiance it had. Staff(looking like a Nepali man) was really well mannered. The food delivery took 15 mins, but was worth the wait. Must try is capsicum pokora and masala toast. Went there again and it was an awesome experience.

This place is just on helipad. This is a very basic restaurant runs by locals and the food is really delicious. This is one of the best place for food for budget traveler. In the breakfast you can enjoy chana puri, upma and some more local food. Their kerala coffee is very delicious.

This place is amazing. Off the main strip located on the helipad, this hidden gem is a super friendly restaurant and a real taste of kerala. I was searching for puttu when I came across this place. Exactly what I was craving. Puttu with chickpea curry is a must try.

Used to be a great place, but things went a bit downhills. This was the place where we had breakfast nearly every day when we stayed in Varkala 4 years ago. It’s still okay, but service and quality aren’t as good as they used to be.

  • 3/5 Nishan M. 5 years ago on Google
It is one of first eatery that you will find when you descend from Varkala cliff to the beach. It is an outdoor restaurant, hence the ambience is dependent upon the weather. Still, it seemed untidy with torn or dirty tablecloths and dirty chairs. Their menu consisted of a variety of dishes from plain snacks to full course meals, across cuisines like Indian, Chinese and Italian. The food itself was not the best, but still decent. It also took the staff a long while to serve. All in all, it isn't your go to diner after a nice time at the beach, but it definitely has scope for improvement.

Getting veg food in sea beach is really appreciated. Food was good and not so expensive. Staff is really nice, only thing they can improve is start accepting mobile wallets like Paytm or Bhim.

  • 3/5 Eglė V. 5 years ago on Google
Food was nice but nothing special. They prepare food very simply, homemade. The curry was cold. Also I felt taste of fried oil in all meals. I didn't like it cause it seems they fry food with not changing the oil. One thing which was very nice they got ginger beer. This was great!!! They don't have conditioner, all table were outside. So during hot time it is not nice to seat. The last thing to mention is that price were twice cheaper comparing with restaurants near Cliff.
