A unique experience offering lots of history - interesting for both religious and non-religious visitors. The gallery features a lot of prestigious artists and showcases popular depictions of biblical people. There can be a lot to take in so make sure you take your time to absorb each painting and emotion. Pros: A large repository of fine arts The art is split up into Artists and regions to help with the storytelling Cons: It can be a little maze-like in the museum. Make sure you have a map to hand. The Vatican Museums are quite busy even during the off season but visiting here you can see why it attracts so many people. The art is incredible and the Gallery of Maps is so fascinating, with all these maps of places around Italy from the Renaissance period. The amount of detail and care is incredible. It’s an amazing place to walk around.

Claustrophobic experience. Too hot. Unfortunately, couldn't really look at anything in detail .Crowds pushing you around or guards ushering you to keep moving in the Sistine chapel. Didn't feel spiritual at all. People let in with shorts, flip flops and cleavage showing. Random dress control. People taking pictures everywhere. Then I wasn't allowed to look at other exhibitions from 5:15 pm. Horrible example of over tourism. Too expensive. There is lovely art in there but you won't be able to enjoy it. Never again.
