Vatican City, a city-state surrounded by Rome, Italy, is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It's home to the Pope and a trove of iconic art and architecture. Its Vatican Museums house ancient Roman sculptures such as the famed “Laocoön and His Sons” as well as Renaissance frescoes in the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel, famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling.

The pope speaks from his apartment window addressing those gathered on St. Peter's square for his convocation. Quite a scene to be there in person with so many people from so many different countries. High drama at St. Peter's.

I recently took a trip to Rome and I can honestly say it was one of the most amazing holidays I have ever been on! Rome is a city full of history, culture, and beauty. During my time there, I visited all the incredible landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Vatican. Every moment was filled with wonder as I marveled at the architecture, art, and ancient history that surrounds you everywhere in the city. The food in Rome was absolutely delicious, from traditional Italian pasta dishes to mouth-watering pizza, along with a vast array of seafood options. The gelato was also a highlight for me, with so many flavors and combinations to choose from. The people of Rome were welcoming and friendly, always happy to offer advice and recommendations, making the trip even more enjoyable. Overall, my trip to Rome was an unforgettable experience that I'll cherish forever. I highly recommend this city to anyone looking for an adventure filled with history, food, and culture.

We were walking around on a Sunday- in town for 3 nights - and decided to walk up to the Vatican. Very busy as we arrived, but we bustled into the square and within a few minutes people started cheering. The pope was making his Sunday midday address. And we'd just stumbled in like the ignorant tourists we were. Amazing experience out of nowhere and would strongly recommend. I do not speak Italian so you better believe I did not understand a single 1 word he spoke but very cool nonetheless Video or it didn't happen

Beautiful place to spend the day or 2. Peaceful and chaotic at the same time. Plenty of places to sit down and take a break.

This has been one of my favorite sights so far in Rome. It is such a beautiful plaza with monuments and fountains. The architecture is absolutely stunning, and you can get some great shots of the Basilica from this spot.

Amazing square. Everyone has to see it and feel it. There are fountains with drinking water in the square, it falls very hard because it is very hot there.

Here it became clear to me why everyone counts time by years, and the Vatican - by centuries.

Many valid good reviews have already been written about this palace. And I am not giving this beautiful and awesome structural great piece of work a 1-star but for something else - please read further. I would like to share my pickpocketing experience outside the Vatican City. I have been forewarned prior to visiting Rome and the Vatican City about this shameful act committed by those who have become sophisticated and agile in carrying their bad undertakings. A supposedly beggar approached me during daytime last December 10, 2022. At first, I was able to brush her off (she was too aggressive). However, a few minutes later, she intentionally bumped into me and that's when I noticed that the zipper of my funny back was open. Lo and behold she had pickpocketed my small leather pouch inside my funny pack. Not much worries there as I only lost my pouch containing toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss. But I have heard horrible stories of people (mostly tourists) losing their money, passports, souvenir items bought and other things. Please read this review as another warning and take extra caution in travelling to Rome and Vatican City. And I must say that it is still good and worthwhile to visit Rome and the Vatican City (and other Italian cities); that is with extra precaution!

Very beautiful and humble place. Lots and lots of "borrowed" artifacts and treasures. We visited capella sistina where we where told not to speak nor take pictures because its a sacred place but thankfully the tomb of st.Peters is less sacred and we where able to speak, take pictures and videos of it. Lots of paintings and art depicting the life of Jesus, from birth to the resurrection. I didnt see any 'Cleasing of the temple' kind of art tho. Maybe thats the whole point. Anyway I recommend a visit whether you're religious or not, just to see and feel the Vanity of Humanity.

The Apostolic Palace (Latin: Palatium Apostolicum; Italian: Palazzo Apostolico) is the official residence of the pope, the head of the Catholic Church, located in Vatican City. It is also known as the Papal Palace, the Palace of the Vatican and the Vatican Palace. The Vatican itself refers to the building as the Palace of Sixtus V, in honor of Pope Sixtus V, who built most of the present form of the palace. The building contains the papal apartments, various offices of the Catholic Church and the Holy See, private and public chapels, Vatican Museums, and the Vatican Library, including the Sistine Chapel, Raphael Rooms, and Borgia Apartment. The modern tourist can see these last and other parts of the palace, but other parts, such as the Sala Regia (Regal Room) and Cappella Paolina, had long been closed to tourists, though the Sala Regia allowed occasional tourism by 2019. The Scala Regia (Regal Staircase) can be viewed from one end and used to enter the Sala Regia. The Cappella Paolina remains closed to tourists.

This place was so amazing to stand there and just look up at EVERYTHING. I couldn't believe me and my daughter were there and even going home and reflecting on the trip we can't believe we were there. We close our eyes and remember. The photos we did take help us believe we were there. It was super clean, busy but flowing with no chaos. We did see police presence and guards at some spots but no trouble. All the statues, architecture and just the grandeur: you can't find that elsewhere. It's just so one of a kind. There were many pidegons flying around missing feet or toes. I don't know what that was specifically about or from, but that was my only negative thing about this location.

If you get there early, you may be able to get a sit nearby a hallway so you can be close to the Pope when passes around in his car. Make sure to email tue Vatican prefecture to get the your passes for the general audience.
