It's advertised as a textile/costume/perfume museum, but there are only a few garments on display. The most interesting was a room with 50 or so waistcoats - if you find 50 nearly identical waistcoats interesting. There is also a room with a handful of perfume elements, but I think everyone already knows what lavender and sandalwood and patchouli smell like. While the rooms are beautiful and ornate, there is only a brief explanation card for each room, so if you're curious about specific items you won't find the information. It seemed like the info cards emphasized how rare and special everything was, without further explanation. For example, there was a display of antique perfuming (?) equipment, but the only information was that it's a rare, extensive, private collection. Nothing about the equipment itself. I would say this is less of a museum and more of a preserved home with a few displays. It was much, much smaller than the size of the building suggests. I would recommend skipping this one unless you have a museum pass.

Very beautiful museum; it has stunning chandeliers, old costumes, cosmetics, artwork and jewelry. It is very well preserved and displayed. It gives you a fantastic insight into how life was lived in the 17th/18th century. It’s really a wonderful museum with an amazing collection. I would definitely recommend visiting this museum when in Venice.

After all the bad reviews I almost didn't stop by, but had the museum pass and was in the area anyway. The palace is very nicely kept up and I enjoyed much of the art work better than Ca'Rezzonico though it lacked the grand ball room it had many nice frescoes as well. The dress selection was modest but suitable with several of the more ornate pieces in display in the main hall where guests could really get a good look at them up close. The waist coats were also well displayed with a great variety to be seen as well as several tail coats. The perfumery was not particularly to my tsste but was well displayed with a nice collection of various styles of perfume bottles. There was also an informative video on the subject that played in Italian and English. As mentioned in other posts the information on the cards is a bit sparse but is enough for an elementary grasp. If you have a city museum pass, drop by and enjoy the lovely palace and displays. If not O would only suggest paying full entry if you have a specific interest in perfume or period dress.

(Translated by Google) To be disappointed with the visit, no, otherwise I would not have put 4 stars, but misleading the title "study center of history of the fabric, of the costume and of the perfume", yes! In practice it is the visit of the noble floor of a sumptuous noble palace, with antique furniture, some of which belonged to the Mocenigo family, partly from other museums in Venice. Inside these rooms, sometimes there are mannequins with vintage clothes with little or no information and a small room with different busts that wear various types of precious vest. Interesting and more complete, in the last rooms of the piano nobile, the exhibition concerning the perfumes with the history of them, tools for the production, and in two rooms the possibility to sniff directly into special containers and bottles, the various essences more or less rare. Strange closing time at 16:00 and I did not see the toilet.

There was a nice costume room to look at old costumes; and if you have children there is a room to smell scents that come from certain materials, which was quite enjoyable. I did however have an issue with the random objects that are just placed in the rooms. There was mouse poo in one of the rooms, but it was surrounded by toilet paper and little blue sheets of paper (I’m guessing the mouse poo was not on purpose?). There was also no air conditioning, so on a hot summer day in Venice it was not very comfortable.

Apart from a few perfumes to smell, there is very little to see or to learn. There were litteraly no costumes (except 2-3 without descriptions) or fabrics. The palace itself was the only thing worth seeing. Plus, the special exhibit of Brigitte Something -- for which they compulsorily charge extra -- was pure merda.

The palace is one floor only. There are about 10 rooms beautifully decorated but with very little in it. The perfume part is interesting but the clothes part is very limited. Man outfits room is very beautiful but not much in other rooms. Very expensive for what it offer I suggest to go only with free ticket or cumulative ones.I was quite disappointed.

Rude and grumpy staff, rather unimpressive collection and the costume exhibits were closed, yet the horrible woman who sold the tickets to us neglected to tell us that and then refused to refund us once we’d been around the small, unimpressive part that was open. Avoid this place like the plague, don’t waste your money.

I would not recommend this museum. It needs a refresh. I came here after so many excellent experiences in other museums in Venice. I love textiles and perfume, but came away with no better understanding of either of these areas. The exhibits are a jumble of dreary items with very little information. During my visit this jumbled feeling was made worse by an intervention of contemporary art work, which didn't well service either the collection or the new art work. Plus, they have horrible scents in each room. I don't know how the guards can stand being in there all day. They need to hire a curator to make something of this place. Take a walk, go anywhere else, don't go to this museum!

The mocenigo palace is one of the many palaces in Venice to visit. Although there are high contrasts in the reviews, sometimes because of the modern art installations trying to contrast with the palace, I must say that I enjoyed my visit. It is dedicated to costumes and perfumes with some interactive possibilities to smell, for example, the basic ingredients of ancient perfumes. When I visited, there were indeed some modern art installations where it could help to give some explenation on the concept as it was not always easy to understand. On the other hand it didn't bother me as the grandeur of the palace and its interior are wurthwile the visit.

(Translated by Google) An interesting exposition of period clothes and antique furniture, there are also short-term exhibitions in the museum, we were lucky enough to have an exhibition of perfumes. But the tour of the halls and their equipment is worth it. (Original) Zajímavá expozice dobových oděvů a starožitného nábytku, v muzeu probíhají i krátkodobé výstavy, my jsme měli štěstí na výstavu parfémů. (Translated by Google) The house of a family who were functionaries of perfumes in Venice. Not much walking there. In the exhibition there is ancient clothing, an exhibition of perfumes which is the main attraction (you can smell all the perfumes) there is also a detailed explanation in English, and some of the lineage family furniture and paintings. Entrance 8 Euros - it seems possible with Venice PASS to get some easy discount. Visiting time in my opinion about 45 minutes is enough. I think a little expensive entrance, but the place is still very nice and quiet (not very popular) so Amos in other places here quiet. There is free WIFI in place, and clean toilets. It is allowed to take pictures without flash. (Translated by Google) One of the beautiful historic buildings in Venice is the Palazzo Mocenigo. Information on this important building can be found as early as 1500. It was the Mocenigo family who renovated the palace in the early 17th century. Alvise Nicolò Mocenigo bequeaths it to the Municipality of Venice in 1945. In 1985 the palace will become the Museum of the Palazzo Mocenigo and the Study Center for the History of Textile and Costume, with important documents in its Library. In favor of the dynamism that can be given to such a precious site, it counts with educational activities, conferences, there are 5 rooms dedicated to the Perfume in a sensorial experience. We really enjoyed seeing the history of parfum making. Staff was very friendly in directing us around. It is not a big museum but if you have the museum pass it is worth to visit. There are not so many costumes on display but there was a nice room with overcoats. The films explaining the parfum history were very informative.

(Translated by Google) Unexpected: collection of perfumes and olfactory fragrances available to visitors, embroidered waistcoats, vintage clothes embroidered on silks and now very rare velvets, all in an eighteenth-century mansion furnished and illuminated as at the time. Murano glass chandeliers are so beautiful that they leave you breathless, plus they do justice to female beauty (the spots do it much less). Moreover in the olfactory you can know the essences, their origin, their combinations. The corner of the Merchant of Venice is an opportunity to treat yourself to an unusual perfume in Murano bottles, at an affordable price. Don't leave anything to chance, it's all very beautiful and elegant. As always or almost the closing time is scandalous, especially in summer: 17 and in winter it will get worse ... and say that culture and beauty are our wealth.

Unfortunately the ‘interactive digital’ museum exhibits (i.e. videos on screens) were all not working when I visited this week. The collection is small and somewhat in need of either proper lighting or some restoration. I was in and out in 15 minutes - head in if you have a Museum Pass & like embroidered waistcoats - not if you’re looking for detailed explanations or a good example of a canal house.

Wonderful museum that is housed in an incredible palace. Not only are there perfumes to smell and costumes to see, you can admire the historic, and original, wall and ceiling coverings as well as the centuries old paintings. The Merchant of Venice exhibition was interesting and entertaining also. Well worth the €10 entry.

Small but informative museum. Situated in the "piano nobile", you can explore the different rooms and salons with lots of the original furniture and paintings. The history comes alive with puppets wearing historical costumes. In every room you find informations in Italian, French and English, as well as benches or chairs in many of the rooms, so that you can rest and enjoy the athmosphere. Large collection of vests with all kinds of embroidery. Very interesting was the part about the history of perfume with a very informative short film (also in English) and lots of samples to smell and compare. We went one hour before closing and had plenty of time, only the museum shop was already closed. Strong recomendation for kids, even our teenagers loved it! Very short walk from Vaporetto San Stae.

We thought the museum housed a textile collection as indicated in its name. However, it’s just a dull palace. There are various exhibitions on display not always related to textiles, so before buying a ticket, make sure you understand what the exhibition is exactly about. We were disappointed.

Not a huge space but well planned for exhibitions and access. The perfume focus in the main floor is extensive and quite encompassing. Very creative wedge of galleries presented a quirky view of collection of objects related to the perfume barons. Good stop in central Venice and easily accessible from San Stae vaporetto dock.

The "palazzo mocenigo" is beautiful and it deserves the visit on its own. It really conveys the feeling of what was life for Venitian patricians. The museum of perfurmes is interesting (but very incomplete) for a Venitian perspective on the subject. They do an excellent job at hosting temporary exhibitions interspersed with the permanent collection.

I agree with what previous people said. More of a tourist trap kind of museum. I was probably in the wrong one (had heard about an interesting fashion museum), it’s a different one. Even the section on perfume wasn’t informative and I was charged an extra 2 € for some photographies of an artist of Meran that are spread throughout some rooms. With that in mind it’s a bit of a nuisance that my online ticket could not be scanned and it took them very long to find it. Don’t bother to go there!

In this palazzo you can touch the history. Probably the best place that I remember on my last trip to Venice. Located away from crowded streets. Very beautiful interiors, incredible Murano glass chandeliers, beautiful paintings, velvet and antique mirrors. In one of the rooms you can smell the aroma oils and imagine what the ancient perfumery was like. Palazzo is an island of calm in the middle of Venice. This place makes you feel like a real princess. Thank you for the good memories that will stay with me forever.
