A cool place just to wander around and explore. Still an active military base so access is a bit restricted. If you’re wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of crowded laneways, this is a nice way to do it and also get some of the breeze. There’s a free boat that takes you across the water which makes things easier, and lots of cats in the surrounding area.

A place of power in the old Venetian republic. A shipyard where army and merchant ships were constructed. I wouldn’t trade a visit to this place over some other national museum or historical building. It is in good shape and well preserved but not really much to do or see. You might remember this place if you played assassins creed game. And most of the other locations in Venice for that matter.

Nice to look at from the outside but the facility is still in use by the military, so access is very restricted to a couple of exhibitions which are on other topics. So by all means go have a look, but don't expect to be let in!

We didn’t visit the exhibition, but it was worth wandering around this historical shipyard that used to be the heart of maritime warfare. It used to build one ship a day during the peak era of Venice’s naval powers!

Very beautiful sight. The lions are Ancient Greek plundered from Piraeus. Unfortunately it’s a military zone as well and you can’t enter it.

Impressive historic naval yard. Usually you get access to the museum that showcases historic Venetian ships, but while we were there the arsenal was hosting a boat show, so we didn’t get to see most of the historic ships. You can’t buy tickets in person and the site to buy is difficult to navigate. Then after we bought our tickets online we had to go to the info desk to get a ticket for our toddler. It would be pretty cool if we could have entered the usual museum.

It is not a popular spot in Venice for taking pictures but it led us to some very quiet spots along the canals for uninterrupted views. My recommendation is to go through the small alleys and see where you end up. It can be quiet rewarding as long as you have places saved on Google maps for easier navigation.

Looks amazing but you can't go in. The gateway is gorgeous just don't plan a route going through it like we did

Nice photogenic place where you can avoid the crowds of tourists. Former shipyards founded already in the 12th century. The place is guarded by several lions from ancient Greece, the oldest might be from the 6th century BC

Although we didn’t visit the exhibition, wandering around this historical site was an experience in itself. This was where warships were produced (one per day) and launched into sea during the height of Venetian’s maritime power.

Fortunately there were no exhibitions on at the time as it was 3 weeks prior to one being setup. We walked straight through, they ask for nothing but you can leave a small donation if you wish. Had to walk around the yard and see the well known sites. Due to it not being open at the time we could not look inside some of the warehouses nor walk around the whole yard but was still worth the trip!

I would suggest you to get the 2-3 day community boat rides to explore the whole Venice.

A espetacular place, very quiet as not so many people were around. Great to seat and contemplate the birds and the view

The Venetian Arsenal is a complex of former shipyards and armories clustered together in the city of Venice in northern Italy. Owned by the state, the Arsenal was responsible for the bulk of the Venetian republic's naval power from the late Middle Ages to the early modern period. It was "one of the earliest large-scale industrial enterprises in history".

Absolutely stunning! The Arsenale di Venezia is a must-visit in Venice. The historical naval complex is breathtaking, with its grand architecture and fascinating exhibitions. A true testament to Venetian maritime heritage. Don't miss it!

Although it is located off the most touristy path, it's a must see if you're into military history and want to know more about the ancient Venetian Navy. I visited the Yacht Show in June and had the opportunity to see also the beautiful brick warehouses and former barracks.

Both the beauty and scale of the Venetian Arsenal is amazing. The bridge between the two towers with the canal below is iconic Venice. Wonderful place to visit in the early morning before many people are out. I visited just before sunrise.

Beautiful place outside the business of main tourist tracks. Give you a nice break in the shade and some of the most beautiful venetian architecture. Fully recomend.

Great place to visit in Venice if you want to escape the crowds of tourists. Whether you enter the arsenal or just walk along it and rest on the benches it's a nice area.

The gate is interesting. Look up the history on the lions located at the gate, fascinating. Can be hot walk down from St Mark's Square, but comfortable in the morning. Good lunch spot located at the gate after you cross the bridge. History bluffs will enjoy.

One friend lost his passport and we had to get to the Greek Embassy to replace it. So we visited and enjoyed the area and the quietness.

This was one of the biggest things I was looking to see in Venice. Has had such a monumental role in Venice's history. I feel that it left out a lot of potential in it's visitation and there wasn't much to see. I would have been disappointed if I didn't know that going into seeing it. I wish they would do more with it and let people inside.

Amazing historical military harbour houses the biannual art exhibition at the moment and still an active military base.

An interesting place to visit taking into consideration that the two gigantic lions have haf their origin in Piraeus, the port of Athens, Greece, which was called after them Porto Leone and were taken to Venice by Morosini in the 17th century.

It's really interesting place, first of all the area around the bridge over the river, there are beautiful statues of lions which have been captured in Pireo, Greece. There is also naval museum, which I plane to visit next time.

We went in with no expectations about the place. There was a exhibit going on. It was great, we spend almost 3 hours here and we both loved it. I like it more then the other museums in Venice.

Place historically very important, was a crucial spot during 15th/16th century. But nowadays there's not much left to see. Worth a walk at night
