I came in to buy some weights for a belt I was planning on buying on Amazon. The weights were the best price of anywhere I had looked but the customer service was unmatched. Jim the owner walked over and asked what I needed the weights for and then proceeded to make sure I bought the right amount and he showed me a belt which was priced better that what I was looking at online. Then he set it all up for me. Showed me how to put it on and what I should do in an emergency. He went way above and beyond and showed me everything I would probably be back for if I wanted to get a little serious about lobster fishing. Didn't try to sell me anything I didn't ask for. He even remembered my boys who had been out on a dive trip last year. The prices were great but Jim's service and help getting setup will make sure that I will be back.

Decent gear, TERRIBLE PRICING FOR RENTALS. Charged for 3 days for picking up at 4:40pm on a Thursday and returning at 11am on a Saturday. What a joke. I could maybe see charging for 2 days but charging for the day I picked up 20 minutes from when you close is price gouging. Only came here cause it saved 40 minutes of driving but never again. These guys are absolute money hungry scammers. SHAME ON YOU.

Cool dive shop, friendly staff- would love to book one of their dive tours out to sabta cruz- seems reasonably priced. I bought some good goggles here and their recycled plastic bottle towels are antimicrobial so wont smell even if left damp somewhere for a while. They have spear guns inside as well.

Best shop on the west coast. There are many but none that have the depth of knowledge or equipment offerings Ventura Dive & Sport has.

I had a great time on the SCUBA certification class in the pool, learned a lot, Sara is a 5 star instructor. My partner was fitted with a BCD that was too small because all the ones in his size were out on the raptor dive boat. So he was really uncomfortable for the pool session. But we made the best of it and otherwise no complaints. Then we went out on the dive boat for our first open water dive with instructor Joe. He has hearing aids and cannot hear you and talks with an accent or has something off that made it hard to understand him. He didn't do the PADI hand signals, didn't take two people's complaints of pain on equalizing in their ears seriously, lost someone for awhile(!) And we kept going up and down and didn't complete the skills we had to do in a limited time. One person he completely slipped doing buddy breathing exercise. We were a group of five in the first, in the second we were 3, and still he could not manage. We did see cool stuff at Anacapa Island but you'd see that no matter who you go with. Then in weight removal and replacement I said I couldn't feel if it was clipped in and the instructor Joe said "it's good" but it was not. It slipped out. I didn't notice until I was taking my gear off and we were about to leave, and I told him I lost my weights. He said, well we're about to go and we can't go retrieve them. I know ultimately it's my responsibility for my rented gear. We get back to the shop and they charged me $98 for the lost weights and pocket. I explained what happened and told them exactly where they are so they can go get them tomorrow but no, they charged me $5 a pound and $35 for the pocket. After I spent literally over a thousand dollars on gear and the cert. My partner and I were going to buy the rest of our gear here but now we will go someplace else. TLDR: Sara is a great instructor, Joe is terrible. I've heard Billy is also great. I recommend getting your own gear and not renting theirs cause they will charge you top dollar to fix or replace even if it's the instructors fault, and they might not even have your size gear and make you suffer with bad fitting gear! If you do rent, then be extra cautious with their gear. So yes, go out on the Raptor, Liam and Alex and Isaiah are wonderful. Do the cert, just don't get Joe for anything.

Do not take a regulator to these clowns unless you want them to break it and still charge you. 6 weeks and a regulator I brought in that worked is broken waiting on a purge cover. Great start to lobster diving.

So happy we have a great dive shop in the area. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Fills are fast, gear service is top notch. My work group does a lot of business here and we are super happy with the great relationship we have with the shop.

I love this place! The staff is always knowledgable, friendly and very helpful. They go above and beyond to answer any questions on equipment and service. The instructor led classes are very thorough and you will leave the class truly understanding the material so that you know exactly what to do in any situation. I feel like one of the family everytime I come through the door.

Called in the morning to ask about wetsuit rentals and Tyler suggested to come on in to the store to try them on. Since I live out of town I got there at a little after 4pm and was thinking we had plenty of time to try on wetsuits because Tyler had informed me they were open till 6pm. But when we arrived, excited, Tyler informed us that it had always been 4pm!! Very poor customer service, and just to let everyone know since they haven’t updated their times on google Ventura Dive and Sport closes at 4pm!

Did the Open water course with Dive instructor Bill in the Pool and Dive Instructor Zack in the Open water. Both very professional but Polar opoosites in fhere aprich to Instructing. Bill is very particular OCD by the book (exmilitary) and will call you out on any instruction that isnt followed out to the T. Couldnt ask for a better pool instrucotr. Zack was very laid back and made it easy for people who i am sufre are alot more nervous and stressed in an open water situation. His navagation and underwater knowledge was insane. Pointed out an angel shark burried in the sand from well ober 20 feet away in lower visability. He was a over the top guide, like an underwater indian and was awesome to follow and be see what he saw. Being a captain myself and having done charters in fishing industfy i was very impressed with crew on the open water portion Captain Brent handled the boat well in nig so good conditions. Crew Isaiah and DM Fiona were very attentive to safety and to the customers and above all thou can tell they really love what the do. In this industry i have seen all to many times great proffessionals that have lost there love for the industry. Ventura dive and sport this is not the case.
