Great food and perfect service. Family restaurant at it’s finest. If you’re around, this one is a must.

A wonderful, lovingly run small rustic restaurant We found the restaurant tucked away on a side street. Signs pointed to this from the main road but the road is a construction site. That didn't deter us from going. After all, the owners can't help it if the city works on the streets. The first impression was very positive. A beautifully designed rustic, romantic interior and a very courteous young man received us. What we really liked was that the menu is short, but you choose from 6-7 fish dishes and 10 meat dishes, including rabbit, which is unusual for us. We ate fish and were not disappointed. It was grilled and delicious. The wine offer is also very good, but we drank beer as shown in the picture. A delicious dessert, a good conversation with the owner and placing a lucky coin rounded off the culinary excursion. We also got insider tips for the best beaches. The conclusion is simple, it is very pleasant, very tasty and therefore highly recommended. Don't let the choppy road put you off!

Had a Rabbit special. OMG was to die for. Cute, quaint and comfortable. Opened early for us, as they saw us at the indoor. Wine, service and food were superb.

We had chicken with potatoes and salad. Bread, olives and cheese to start and a creamy dessert afterwards. Cozy and exceptionally traditional meals.

Few people in on a wet Saturday in October but the young waitress helped with English translations and the family cooking was very good and tasty. VERY reasonable price and happy place!

Impeccable service from the super nice and effective employees. Great traditional Portuguese food, with affordable prices, in a calm and safe alley with a great view to the Santa Luzia monument. 10/10

We've been walking the Camino de Santiago. Took a rest day and found this wonderful restaurant. Tha sardines were great. Paired it with a house wine, desert, and a porto after. Great place!

Literally stumbled into here needing a break from the Camino de Santiago. What a a great place to eat a meal delicious meal and some vino verde. The food was awesome. The vino verde flowed from a tap and not a bottle. Was told by several others in the restaurant how fortunate I was to have stumbled into a truly authentic Portuguese Tavern (Taberna). For those on the Camino de Santiago stop in here for a rest and great meal. You won't be disappointed. If you love hot sauce try Patricia's Dad's hot sauce they make at the restaurant. Great flavor and a nice bite to the hot sauce. Not too hot (for me) so don't be intimidated.

Just half a block off the main road and SO WELL WORTH IT! Amazing made from scratch everything. The white wine is amazing, I had grilled flounder and it was delicious and fresh. Small family run business, so reasonable re price and high value! Go and enjoy!!!!

The food here was great . We arrived before their dinner time, yet they accommodated us. We had the sea bream and the cod grilled . Perfectly seasoned, as well as the veggies and potato. This is a family business. You can tell they love what they do. The atmosphere is far from fancy, but it is clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Parking quite close by, just drive a bit past the restaurant and you will see some on the right side. They also recommended an excellent reasonably priced bottle of wine. Great meal.

God the sin of gluttony and good humor to end our long Portuguese trip ! We found it here at the good canteen of locals and savvy tourists 😉. La Taberna Cantinho De Viana, in Viana do Castelo, for two good dinners and such a natural and friendly welcome here 🤩 Yes, communicating with people is the key to travel pleasure 😎. We had dinner on 2 and 3/10/2023 for our 15th and last stopover before the return road to our Bretagne (Breizh ☝️) in France after a big 35-days Road Trip all around Portugal 😃 The kitchen here is opened, most of the dishes are prepared on the grill/barbecue and/or fried directly for you eyes ! You see the Girl Boss and Head Chef taking care of your upcoming meal. It blazes with 🍾 and it extinguishes with vinho verde 🍸 the cod on the embers and at the same time your Quick grilled rare meat says you .. I'm coming soon ! Well not enough stars are available here , so we put 6, 7..😎. Our 2nd evening was for me pan-fried sweet peppers with herbs in olive oil and grilled chorizo followed by a "picanha con feijas ( 😇) and for my wife she ordered a "Bacalhau na brasa" flambéed with alcohol and extinguished with white wine , with herbs etc.. The wine 🍷 recommended was perfect. The price was more than fair and the finale with the Chef Lady and the Ladies team ! We let go of the lionesses and ready for the good bye photo 📷 with My Lady and now , everyone says.. 3.2.1 OUISTITI 😅😍

Tucked away on a quiet street in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, is this hidden gem of a restaurant. This family-run establishment is easy to miss, but those who do find it are in for a treat. The restaurant is run by three generations of the same family, who prepare and cook all of the food fresh to order. The menu features a wide variety of Portuguese dishes, both seafood and meat. We opted to share the meat platter for two, which was generously portioned and came with chips, vegetables, and salad. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. In addition to the delicious food, the service at the restaurant was also excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. If you're looking for a great meal in Viana do Castelo, I highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant. It's the perfect place to enjoy some traditional Portuguese cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Probably the most authentic home cooking we had on our trip here. No tables available, the waiter noted my number and called me when one bacame available 20 minutes later. Much appreciated. We explicitly wanted to try the picanha here and were not disappointed. We would have the local Vianna wine all over again.
