This was my second stay (this time with my wife) in the new Magdas Hotel within the space of the last two months – it only opened at its new location at the end of October – and as I reviewed it in German the previous time, this edition is for the benefit of the English-speaking public! This new location near the centre of town is very easily and quickly accessible, especially by public transport. The surroundings are not as green as at the old location, where we stayed a few times in the past years, but the newly planted garden and terrace on the site of the building’s former parking lot promise to start flourishing in Spring. We were pleased to note that all the agreeable features of the former Magdas version have been transplanted to the new one: the extremely friendly and obliging staff – many very young, in training and from various origins – have been retained, the breakfast buffet is varied with several oriental dishes (hummus, baba ghanoush, spiced rice pudding) in addition to more traditional fare, the rooms are now more modern, but comfortable, clean and well-lighted. Not extremely spacious but quite sufficient. No unnecessary luxuries but (e.g.) upcycled vintage furniture in accordance with the hotel’s image as a Social Business. All the premises are fully accessible. The café and restaurant offer several vegetarian dishes but also a few meat dishes as they aim to include the local residents: in the space of just two months, they appear to have attracted quite a few local customers. We are looking forward to making Magdas our regular hotel for short stays in Vienna.

This was a fantastic hotel. The room was clean and had everything we needed. It was a family suite with a kitchenette. The only thing that they don't have in the room is coffee. So bring your own coffee packets if you need that. There is a boil pot and tea. Otherwise, I would definitely stay there again.

This hotel was lovely! It had a very clear point of view and executed it well. The vibes were very welcoming. Our room was exceptionally nice and well thought out - the head board had plenty of outlets, and even a table in the middle of our two twins - perfect for both my husband and I to easily access our shared adapter. There were other nice touches throughout the room, such as a knitted blanket, locally made glasses and a water carafe, and local art. The bathroom was the little bit of a let down - it was too small in my opinion, with not enough counter space and an open-door shower that probably needed to be at least a foot longer to prevent water from going everywhere like it did. However, even with that, the hotel was in a good location, and the breakfast was nice, and their dinner menu was also tasty - with PLENTY of clearly labeled vegetarian and vegan options. We'd definitely stay here again.

Good location, clean and well equipped room, very friendly staff. Particularly liked the hammock style "chairs" outside. Very cool! Loved the healthy options of the breakfast. If I can give you an advice to make it even better. Please offer some sort of smoked fish and better quality ham for breakfast. I would stay again! <3

Disclaimer: This review is only about the brunch, not the stay(!!) at the hotel! My friend and I won a voucher for the brunch. Unfortunately there was nothing a la card, just the buffet for the hotel guests. The buffet was small and since it was already 11 o'clock the food was mostly gone. The scrambled eggs were good though. we didn't check the breakfast price beforehand (since we had a voucher). Turns out that it's 25€ per person for no variety, but "leftovers". At the end we ended up paying so much more than we would have at a nice brunch place in Vienna. The hotel staff was friendly, except for the guy at the cash register. He wouldn't go out of his way to split the bill. I would definitely not recommend this place for a breakfast.

Excellent hotel 🏨 Really happy with the experience we had at Magdas hotel. Friendly staff and excellent service They even offered me and my wife free Coffee ☕️ Can you imagine this in Europe 😉. The lady running the restaurant is extremely professional and nice not to forget the front of desk staff and the cleaning team who kept our room in pristine condition. Rooms are really clean 🧼 even the kids noticed and it’s a big kudos for Magdas

Excellent example how good and responsible tourism should be. Best business case of social entrepreneurship. Great!

My hotel stay was pleasant, with delicious breakfast/brunch provided. However, it's worth noting that there was no fridge in the room, and I couldn't eat my own food on their premises.

Pretty good hotel in a good location with access to tram lines and metro stations nearby. The room had very stylish mid century modern furniture, really cool selection of furniture. The room however did not have a door to the shower or bathroom sink, these were in the main room with no way to close off the shower. Staying with family, it made getting ready in the morning really awkward! Also- we paid quite a premium to sleep 3 people and the second bed was a firm futon with no mattress topper or other comforts. I would suggest if going with more than a couple to just get a few separate rooms. This hotel is best for couples, not great for families. The elevator is a bottleneck as well, the hotel has many floors- you need to take the elevator to go up 7 floors with suitcases, however the elevator is smaller and at busy times you may have to wait for a while.

If you're looking for sustainable travel, here you are: recylced mid-century furnitures (lovely !), limited quantity of food (just what you need), all in a well-decorated and comfortable place. If you're noise and temperature sensitive, I'd recommend booking a room on the back/garden side of the building and ask additional blanket from the start.

Interesting hotel mixing old and modern. My biggest problem was that the bathroom wasn't a separate room, which was problematic when staying in the same room with my family. Otherwise, i had no complaints.

I really enjoyed my long weekend stay in Magdas. The bed is very comfy, the breakfast is divine and healthy (+additional perk of having it till 2 pm on weekends. Geniiius!). Last but certainly not least, the staff is very nice and helpful.

Rooms were comfortable and clean, although the bathroom is integrated into the studio without an actual door between the bathroom and the bedroom. The breakfast is efficient with a small but decent selection

We didn't stay in the hotel itself but enjoyed the very good brunch buffet with a wide range of food. Worth a try 👌🏼!

Great hotel, much to recommend. It's new and looks/feels it. It's eco-friendly and emphasizes social responsibility as well, e.g. it hires refugee staff and provides them training. There's a tram thst passes by front door.

Stayed here in July 2023. Room is very spacious, clean and modern. It looks new, and the arrangement is thought through, minimalistic yet functional. You need to walk around 10-13 mins to get to the centre, but that’s explained by the hotel. Beds are not super comfy, but you can ask for an extra pillow.

Hotel is very beautiful with amazing and caring staff, they are amazing. I lost my necklace in my room, they spend two days to search it and definitely found. I al so thankful. when I visit vien again I will stay at Magdas. It became my second home, I rely on it.

Very nice hotel. The eco friendly and upcycling vibes are great. I thought the rooms were a bit basic and lacking for the price, but comfortable nonetheless. Service was fantastic.

Fantastic hotel with lovely and helpful staff! I really liked the design of the room, and everything was very clean and comfortable. The location is also super. Their values and focus on sustainability combined with a beautiful and modern place is everything you could ask for. I will definetly stay here for my next trip to Wien.
