This was a complete disappointment for us ,we will never come back - please read carefully if u think of going there. Have u ever paid 10 euro for a ketchup and mayonnaise ??? Have u ever paid for bread put on the the table and no one let u know it costs 3.7 euro ,and they put 4 not 1 but 4 of those on our table!! I would expect for a restaurant charging 3.3 euro per person as a cover ( which is also very strange and unusual) the minimum curtsy’s . It costs us 33 euro just to sit and have some ketchup and mayonnaise + 14. 8 for some bread we didn’t know that we are going to pay for ,🤦‍♂️nothing else was important any longer . The food by the way was ok but nothing more then that ! So if u think of having a nice meal and get nice hospitality I would recommend look for somewhere else - there are many in Vienna

Wow. It's all I can say after two weeks of pondering how to review Ofenloch and our experience there. I'm still stuck at "WOW". First, the food was delicious. Second the wine and beer was just right. Third the service was outstanding. Fourth the ambiance was quaint and exciting. But fifth, fifth is the wow. We took a cellar tour and got to learn about the history of the building while talking to the lovely Karin and enjoying a glass of wine. I'm still speechless. I could not recommend a visit to Ofenloch more strongly. If you will be in Vienna, you must tour the cellar and have a meal here.

Great food and great atmosphere. The goulash and the schnitzel are delicious. However this restaurant is a bit overpriced compared to many others that also serve the same traditional food in the area. The service is good and fast and everyone is polite and available to assist you. However they do charge 3,40 euro per person for the service and at the end of the dinner they ask you if you want to leave a tip… that’s already on average 10% of what you get. Strange system, otherwise it would have been 5 stars. But still recommended

Great food, fantastic location. You HAVE to order the schnitzel, it really is amazing, even by local standards. The building has lots of character and the team managing the restaurant are friendly and helpful. We were lucky to get a seat so if you are intending to make it a must visit then it would be a good idea to make a reservation.

The food was amazing. Portions were big and worth it. Not so cheap but reasonable. Very nice vibes and looked traditional. The only problem was the portion WAS big and we knew we couldn’t eat THAT much…and the waiters wouldn’t let us order less than what they wanted. So we just had to stuff all the food to avoid food waste. My point is…we love the food, we wanted to eat it and we enjoyed it. But next time maybe if order less than usual, please don’t be upset.

Service was ok...I was disappointed that we were not offered an English menu with it being in the first district. The food was superb and definitely 5 star. Schnitzel at its finest and garlic soup so flavorful and smooth. The desserts are off the charts...words do not do them justice.

Excellent restaurant. If you want to try a delicious Viennese schnitzel, forget Figlmüller and go here. It's 100 times better. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent desserts, excellent beer.

Very nice place with good food and service! I would like to highlight the duck I ordered , it was excellent, as well as the carrot soup as a starter - I really enjoyed it! The prices are good for the centre of Vienna, so I would definitely recommend it'

Very accommodating to our large group under very short notice! Food was what we’ve come to expect during our visit but a bit above the price range of similar restaurants in the area. A star was lost due to the cover fee which was above what I would consider reasonable, especially as the staff requested a tip as well.

we reserved tables for our christmas dinner here, the staff was really kind and welcoming, the food was served fast and was really good, their wiener schnitzel is very delicious as well as the potato salad, which was not too oily as many others!! good place for austrian traditional food in a cute old street in the city centre of vienna!! nicely decorated restaurant, they even have an historical wine cellar🤩

Food was ok but very expensibe. 35euros for a Schnitzel with some potatoes... Update to the owners response: on Friday evening the 11th of February we had : 1 Schnitzel Cordon bleu of veal with roast potatoes and a little jam, 1 Viennese roast beef , 1 green tea and 1 small bottle of water and the bill was around 68,50 ( 70 including tip ). Then perhaps your waitress robbed us, something that you shouldnt allow.

Had a worst experience here ever. Watch out for a waiter who is probably in his 60s, extremely unfriendly and offensive to customers. His boss should have this pathetic man fired and let him be jobless. So many negative comments were about this old dude. Food-wise, I can only give 2/5 and they are out of mind charging napkins 3 euro something per person and 1 euro per condiment. True they mention it on their menu (you would need a magnifying glass to read those text) but still they can be so nice to extra remind especially foreign guests that all these are additional charges. I would suggest that you look somewhere else for your meal in Wien. The owner of this restaurant is busy all the time finding excuses to defend their rude employees and hidden costs. They could have received so many more better reviews if they had the wisdom to handle these two issues in a better way !

food was extremely delicious! service was of the highest standard while the staff were very kind and courteous, especially Daniel and Milos. the interior is quaint and the toilets are super too! would highly recommend this place. slightly pricey but large portions and food was scrumptious! we had the boiled beef, deer meat and pork underbelly, all of which far exceeded expectations. would recommend these dishes:-)

A wonderful experience and delicious food. The staff were so kind and found us a table when they were already full, we so appreciated it. The best Wiener Schnitzel and very authentic. Loved it, can’t wait to come back.

A gem, the food was delicious, beautifully served. The Strudel was the best we had tasted. The service was impeccable, friendly, welcoming. A special dining experience for our last night in Vienna. Just perfect! I will be back. Thank you!

Ended up here for a late lunch (2.30pm) but what a pleasant surprise. The street was peaceful and beautiful - perfect terrace dining experience. The Viennese classic pork belly was incredible! Fantastic Cardinal cake! Service was friendly and warm. It was a perfect pause in the middle of the day.

Not well known to tourists, but a really good Austrian restaurant. One of Vienna's best schnitzels. It's a great place for both main meals and desserts.

We sat outside, wasn't cold. We were walking around and spontaneously sat down. We had the duck and it was delicious. The service was excellent. I just peaked inside, it looked nice.

How rarely are you eating in a restaurant and want to order each single dish immediately again ! Try the beef tartare with Dijon mustard Creme and melt away. Eat a Wiener Schnitzel in Vienna in the traditional way with potato salad and just be happy. Amazing team, amazing food - compliments to the chefs.

The restaurant is very cosy and the waiters made me feel welcome and exclusive. They checked on us many time if the food was okay or if we wanted another drink. I have been here before and the 'chicken on a bed of popcorn' is a strange combination but when I tasted that a few years ago at Ofenloch I knew I had to come back for that. It is so delicious! This time (the second time) it's just as tasteful as the last time. Very glad to have been here and would definitely come back again. 5 stars!

Tucked away on a tiny side street in the old part of town. Come for the fun location and service, not the food (which was below average). Yes, EVERYTHING is extra but all the extra charges are on the menu and if you are reading this, you know that in advance. Appetizer plus one glass of wine plus entree, no desert was about 70 euros/person. Crazy expensive for the food quality, so manage your expectations in advance if that is your objective. Very attentive service

The best dining experience in Vienna: - excellent food - schnitzel is tender and of high quality, lamb was juicy, and mozartkuchen - heaven; - good wine selection; - super friendlly service; - pricing up to the Viennese standards - 90eur for a dinner for two, one appetizer, two main dishes and one dessert with wine. Highly recommend👍

Beautiful restaurant Just around the city center. Elegant atmosphere with gentile and kind waiters. They were able to find me a table with gentleness even thought on saturday and without reservation. Typical Austrian food, Schnitzel awesome and with a good choice of local and abroad wines

Nice restaurant with traditional food, atmosphere and good service. We ordered a bottle of red wine which was good but served way too cold for a red wine. The rib eye itself was great, but overall too much salt and way too much fried onions in the plate which made for a quite unbalanced dish, especially that fried onions are not particularly a noble ingredient to go with a nice cut of beef.

Good food and cozy place! We dine at different restaurants with the same dishes during our 4 day trip to Vienna. . This restaurant serves the best Wiener Schnizel, Calamarised Viennese Kaiserschmarren, and Apple Schudel in town! The desserts were even better than other famous cafes! We sat in the left section of the restaurant, and the service was perfect. We enjoyed the late lunch with a perfect 3 course menu. Highly recommended!

A nice austrian eatery which ruined our experience with its predatory pricing and cheap billing tricks. Came here because of the high reviews on google. Took a Snitzel which wasn't bad albeit being pricey (23euros), typical biergarten taste and quality. But the hidden costs where truly evil. Service charge at 8euros! Bottle of still water at 8 euros - How is the water more expensive than the cocktail?!!! The water was in an unlabled glass bottle, so its tap water. A dab of ketchup 2 euro - thats a whole bottle. Bread 4 euros, for 3 small peices which we didn't request! Sorry for this review, but shame on you for cheating us and others! Edit: There is another review below (2 weeks ago) where they overcharged another patron with 33euros service charge and 14 euros ketchup. Please share these tourist traps please across all networks, the 4star reviews are hiding this. Edit2: ACCC, the Austrian fair business office have guidelines and processes to defend you against this. Start a complaint with them if you got caught with these billing tricks.

Great dining experience - friendly staff, tasty food, central, yet relatively quiet location. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the services.

The best schnitzel i ever had in my life. Kudos to the chef.

Although the pumpkin soup was divine. The 20+ euro Schnitzel was so not worth it. The breading was super casual and it is nothing worth eating. The whole vibe there was friendly and remind me of the old city. Like eating your meal in the old days.

My recommendation: on a hot summer evening you find a cool spot here with wonderful cuisine. Try their “summer bowle” with melon and strawberry. 💜🌹

The service was very good, the waiter was really nice! The food was very very good and in good quantity. Everything was perfect indeed and for a nice price obviously, set in a cute street of Vienna (perfect in the summer)

Staff att old famous spots with time start to feel so important... You can take this table but not that one... Food was super tasty. Very cozy place. Would definetely recommend!

The Schnitzel was delicious and the salmon was tasty but not the best and the "big portion" was small from our point of view. I would come again but avoid the salmon and stay with the Schnitzel.

Good food, food service. They do hover though which was a little annoying. Kept asking us every 5 minutes or less if everything was ok. Yes, we were the only people in the restaurant so no more people to keep them busy except for us but they really did need to lay off a little. Too attentive. The food was good though and the location was great. Nice little lane through the city. Beautiful little spot. We sat outside and it was really nice. It's a great little spot to stop for lunch or dinner.

Food is super and the menu has a wide range of selection. Great ambience of the place, too — very local and very intimate; and the restaurant is nicely tucked in a quiet lane of the Inner City. Good wine selection, too! Definitely must go back for more — especially for the desserts, which I’ve been told are all home-made.

What an amazing dinning experience! The four course gourmet meal was everything you would want from a fine Viennese dinner. The starter, a carpaccio with arugula was tender; the apple and celery soup was delicate, lightly sweet, with melt in your mouth veal tongue, and the main course with chanterelles, veal, and zucchini noodles was perfectly balanced. Did I mention the chocolate tart with white chocolate icecream and marinated berries? Well, that was the perfect finish. The staff was superb, the food was delicious, and the evening was perfect...even though we had no reservation, they still accommodated us. Thank you, Ofenloch for such an amazing experience.

Great traditional Austrian restaurant hidden in the heart of Vienna. Delicious food, friendly service, authenthic athmosphere, average price level.

The food was good, however the service was a let down after we decided to pay separately. Don’t know why, but they made a big deal out of splitting the bill and were somewhat unfriendly about it. We had to individually calculate our total sums instead of the staff helping us out, and they were cold about it.

*****restaurant After trying several restaurants on our 5-day holiday in Vienna, I can say this one is the best! The staff was very attentive and friendly (Nikola is the best!). He was very patient and recommended us the best meals. I must say that I was not impressed with the service and food In Vienna, hence the nice surprise on our last evening. My compliments to the Chef! On top of everything we have tried those dumplings were sooo delicious! If ever again in Vienna - Ofenloch - will be our first choice. Bianca & family

Perhaps it’s because we really hit the lottery with all the other restaurants we had previously gone in this trip that this one just didn’t impress. The chestnut soup was just ok and everything else was fine, but we’ve had better. Nice location though.
