👍👍 A bit pricy, however they serve high quality bio products. Their desserts are not too sweet, which for me is a big plus. People often mention bread, Vienna,

Quite enjoyed the Viennese beugels - both chestnut and poppyseed. My friends loved the cheese stick. Quite pricey though. Coffee is good.

Helpful woman at the counter spoke English well, and recommended me a bread and pastry to try. Her recommendations were excellent. I had an Austrian rye bread and a carrot-chocolate pastry, both which were superb. The prices were fair, especially given that Vienna is an expensive city anyways. Highly recommended.

@graggercie was our first stop in Vienna and it met all expectations. They were making the bread and pastries items in ovens right behind the counter. Which made the small shop warm and welcoming. The staff was kind and worked to find the English words to describe their items. And the FOOD! The best one we had was filled with quark (English word) cheese, just a little sweet but still funky in the most delicate dough.

Opened by Helmut and Karin Gragger in 1997 at an old mill in Ansfelden near Linz the story of Gragger & Cie is one of rethinking modern practices, Helmut having given up a job in commercial baking to pursue a more natural course focused on organic raw materials mixed by hand and cooked in a wood-burning oven. Eventually relocated to Vienna, Helmut’s hand-built oven transported to Spiegelgasse 23 where it still burns daily, entering Gragger & Cie rouses memories of days past with loaves lining racks and several Pastries filling the cases up front. Also championing socially disadvantaged persons with training across four storefronts, the service amongst Vienna’s most friendly, a tasting of Gragger’s goods began with a Cheese-filled Viennoiserie featuring light sweetness before moving on to crispy Zauner Klipferl with Almonds and Breadcrumbs. Also featuring Almonds in a toothsome Cake, lightly sweetened and perfect with Coffee, Gragger & Cie’s Poppyseed Semolina Cake comes individually portioned and profoundly nuanced while the Nussbeugerl resembles Hungarian Kifles from the Butter-enriched Dough to the ground Walnut filling.

We specifically visited for the poppyseed pastry, although the loaves of bread on offer looked exceptional. The pastry on the other hand was too dry for our liking. Plus it's a real luxury sweet treat at €3.9. Staff was very welcoming and told us more about the special Holzofen.

Well-made products and everything is organic! Staff is super nice, and the bread is made in a wood burning stove!

The pastries spread was very nice and appetizing and the food was great. The place smelled delicious. There’s no seating however, only small bar attached to the wall for singles so you need to grab your food and go.

The friendliest staff in all of Vienna!! I was handed a pastry fresh out of the oven with a big smile. A hidden gem in the inner district, extraordinarily high quality products. My new favorite place!
