Really cute place. I was in the one in New York. They’re both pretty much the same but this one seems smaller. Good for kids and adults alike. Some fun illusions. Don’t plan on spending more than an hour. 45 minutes is enough. Nice break in the days but it isn’t a large enough activity to fill an afternoon so plan on doing something else as well in the area. But the price isn’t too expensive so it’s worth it.

You can do a couple of cool photos here, but otherwise, it is the same as every other place like this in the whole of Europe. Vienna has plenty more interesting opportunities to visit. I recommend it only if you run out of options.

Too crowded, and we had already seen most of the illusions presented in the museum, which is very small as well. It's better to visit on a weekday. If you have kids they will have a lot of fun though.

Nice place to have some fun, especially kids get really excited! There are many activities (although a small museum) and you can take some really nice photos! A little expensive for time spending in it (about an hour)

One of the funniest and educational museum for kids and adults. Adults itself can spend hours here. Must try all the illusions atleast once. I felt the price is costly.. but for this price ok to visit once. If the entry price can be reduced then tourists can visit multiple times. No parking as it is in the city center. Be ready to be in the long queue on holidays.

The Museum is really a wonderful entertainment for the whole family! In particular I enjoyed the visual illusions and scientific background on how illusions and perception works. Together with my son (7y) I had a lot of fun with taking photos and in the vortex tunnel. Everyone of the staff was really helpful, friendly and kind to support us as good as possible. We had to wait but there were people from the Museum taking care of us and also entertaining us. This museum is definitely one of the main attractions in Vienna - even if there are many beautiful ones in the city.

It's a real nice place, the kids loved it. It is quite small and we managed to see and do it all within about half an hour. I would expect a bit more content for the price.

Kudos to the amazing staff members there. I went with a pregnant family member and they were kind enough to accommodate us. The tickets were gifted to us and one of the person can not come on the given date, so they adjusted the ticket. The museum was amazing with interactive games and puzzles. You can even take home puzzles from their gift shop, which is reasonably priced.

An interesting almost-museum for the inquisitive spirits. Judging by the queues outside, one might suppose it is a big museum, but in fact it is quite compact and a complete tour can be done patiently in less than 1 hour. A bit pricy considering the items displayed and comparatively to the tariffs of other real museums, but still worth paying a visit, especially for kids. The personnel is very kind and supportive.

Too expensive, round about 3.5 rooms with Exhibitions. As an adult not trying every puzzle you are done in about 30-45 minutes. With kids/Family maybe it gets more worthwhile.

Quite small museum however enjoyed playing with smart games puzzle with my family. Joyful experienced when doing the optical illusion activities. Recommended to book a ticket online to avoid waiting of about 30mins or more time outside the building.

Wow, what a museum and what an experience!!! From the moment of arrival as you enter the building you get greeted by an amazing and very friendly team ready help you with pictures and explanations of all the exhibitions (thank you Rori) We had 4 kids with and they were amazed by all the illusions and interactive games inside. For us adults it was a nice experience as well and for sure i have some cool pictures to remember it. Highly recommended it!

It was fun for both 3yr old and 8yr old. We captured funny photos. But was a bit disappointed that it is so small, in around an hour youd be ready, makes it a bit pricy for such a short duration. Expect ques to go inside. Not stroller friendly cause not enough space. You can leave stoller in reception.

  • 3/5 Alisha Z. 10 months ago on Google
Solid museum, very fun and interactive (great for kids)! Each illusion had a description and an explanation, which was quite interesting. Unfortunately it is quite small and due to that it gets very crowded very easily, which makes it less enjoyable. However we did get some nice pictures in so if you’re in the area and it’s not too full pop on by.

This is the kinda museum you can visit even if you'd never consider visiting the 'normal' kind. There are all kinds of optical illusions, some things you can try yourself and some spots to make some awesome fotos with! One of the illusions even gets you stumbling for sure without the railings! The only bad part is that it's rather short despite a solid entrance fee (which is cheaper for students).

  • 5/5 T. M. 7 months ago on Google
The museum was enjoyable for both children and adults alike. It was quite fascinating, and we took numerous pictures. It's likely one of the top choices for a family-friendly museum. The only drawback was that it felt a bit brief. Despite that, we had a fantastic time and are eager to visit again.

We waited for 1.5 hours just to participate in a 20 minute program and in my opinion it was just not worth it. The museum itself was okay but definitely not worth the wait.

Interesting program in Vienna for children&adults too. Check out our YouTube short about the coolest attractions: “Amelie-W Museum der Illusionen”

Lovely staff and an interesting place that can be seen in 20 minutes. At €14 maybe not the best value for money.

  • 4/5 Niv G. 7 months ago on Google
Very nice experience in the city center. Not a very big museum. Fun illusions, mostly for kids. Family fun for 1 hour entertainment.

  • 3/5 Mark D. 9 months ago on Google
Small but interesting. An hour or two is enough time. Entry cost is reasonable but maybe a bit high for the overall experience. The best part was that all exhibits have English explanation. Great to see so much transport history related to this region

  • 5/5 Zsu Z. 8 months ago on Google
It is a fun museum for kids, we really enjoyed it. I can only recommend it for families with kids.

  • 4/5 raluca n. 5 months ago on Google
An entertaining experience for kids and grow-ups alike. On the downside however is the steep entrance fee, the size of the museum (all in all 3 rooms) and the long wait before going in (+60min). On the plus side, the staff is kind and helpfull, providing kids with different toys and candy to sweeten the wait a bit. I would recommend trying it at least once.

I mean who doesn’t like magic? This place is clever, mesmerising, and the staff are great too. I first came about it due to a company event and have been a few times since. A friend swears by it as THE date idea ;-)

Don’t bother visiting, it’s around 3 rooms that are filled with illusions you can find on the internet. They have a handful of interactive illusions however the majority are pictures that are famous internet pictures. It took me less than 20 minutes from entering to exiting and that was only because each room was filled with people running all over

  • 5/5 Matei P. 2 years ago on Google
Nice illusions and fun puzzle. The staff was really nice and eager to help with pictures

  • 5/5 Zach B. 5 months ago on Google
I went here yesterday. It’s good. I like it. The illusions are fun and interactive. It’s less of a museum and more of a fun house. There are only three rooms but this is part of the magic. This little building of surprises packs a lot into a small area. It’s perfect for kids and families and couples and friends. I would recommend bringing more than one person. I did not. And it made me think of my girlfriend, who was at school during this time. Next time I go, I’ll be sure to bring her along, because she would have lots of fun and probably giggle at some of the exhibits. Dankeschön

The queue was 1 hour. It's for sure too much for the 3 room museum. Yeah, it has some interesting photos spots, but then inside of the museum. Yeah, it has some interesting photos spots, but then inside of the museum you are also waiting to make this photo. For us it did not worth the waiting time and tickets(( There are other, much better places, to visit in Wien as a tourist

Love this place! Interactive and educational. I bought my physics class and although they are are all too cool in their heads when they saw the photos they were wowed by it all. Good experience Thanks

(+) - Fun - You can make good pictures - Friendly staff - Souvenir shop (expensive) (-) - Way too small - High price for too small museum Wasn't very worth it, but it was more like for kids.

We had a really great time. The staff was so nice and they really helped us to experience all of the illusions. The best thing was the spinning room. It was so cool.

  • 3/5 Fati M. 2 years ago on Google
Fun for adults and kids. You can make plenty of funny pictures 😁😁 Things I didn't like: - it's way too small - The ticket price was too much for what they offer.

  • 5/5 Mika 2 years ago on Google
Interesting stuff and friendly staff. A good place for kids and teenagers. With Vienna City Card you get a 10% discount. It is about a 30 minutes experience. You can ask ine of the staff guys to take pictures for you, getting a full efect of the optical ilusions in certain arrangements.

  • 5/5 ogundipe o. 2 years ago on Google
A fun magical experience, some of the illusion give you something to think about and there is an explanation to help you understand it better. It is like your personal magic show.

  • 5/5 Melisa A. 1 year ago on Google
It is a magical experience, it is worth dedicating an hour if you are in the city. some things look better by photo but it never ceases to amaze. If you want to avoid the schedule where there are more children during the weekend, I recommend the last hour, after 6:00 p.m.

  • 5/5 Marawan E. 2 years ago on Google
Even though the museum is small, time flies by enjoying all of the features presented within it. We easily spent two hours here just looking and playing with all of the different illusions.

  • 5/5 Marina B. 2 years ago on Google
Great place to take photos and it was amazing. The choice of different illusion and the fact that they were all in one place was awesome and very fascinating. Thank you!

  • 3/5 Ricardo G. 2 years ago on Google
The space is really cool and fun-oriented, though the small space limits what you can see (some illusions are quite well known over the internet), and people often does not respect the space and time needed to take a pic in the more popular spots (again this may be due to the space problem). Other than that, you will definitely leave the museum wearing a smile.

  • 4/5 Jarne V. 2 years ago on Google
Fun little place to go with kids. They will enjoy the different illusions especially the vortex and the mirror room. All the illusions are explained in English so no translating needed. Best angles to take pictures have a mark on the ground so you can take the best photos to remember the trip.

  • 1/5 Luz C. 2 years ago on Google
The waiting time was extremely too long in comparison with the time that we were inside of this very small museum. It took us one hour to wait until we got in and then for our surprise the place was really small. It took us 30 min to be inside and then we left very disappointed. I would not recommend to go to this place for such little time. I would also do not recommend to buy the ticket online. As soon as you will see the queue you will rather prefer to see the city, take a coffee or go for shopping than getting inside.

It's small but very nice museum, especially for kids. You can have a lot of fun..

  • 5/5 Matt D. 1 year ago on Google
Had a great time here. Really friendly staff. Lots of cool stuff, presented very well. Enjoyed it as an adult couple but the kids would love it too

  • 3/5 Zoltán K. 2 years ago on Google
Only 2 appreciated lieces are the spinning room and the big/small person room. Otherwise it is full with people, it could easily take 45 minutes to get inside. The rest of the exhibition is not that exciting as they are bigger prints of classical illusion images, which had their popular times on the internet.

  • 4/5 Vasilis K. 1 year ago on Google
There are better illusion museum's, if you already being in one I don't think worth going here but for kid's probably will have some fun. What I really like was the spinning room! That was really cool!

  • 4/5 James S. 1 year ago on Google
If you enjoy the psychology of perception then this place is a must see. The collection is not large but everything is on point and meaningful. Maybe a bit sophisticated for kids but very engaging and thought provoking.

  • 5/5 Maggie B. 2 years ago on Google
We had a lot of fun here! The museum is very interactive, so you’ll never get bored. It’s a nice place to take your kids along as well, and spend some family time together. They sell some of the puzzles (and more) in the gift shop inside if you want to try them out at home or just get something for memories.

  • 5/5 Piers da Camino S. 1 year ago on Google
Very long waiting line but AMAZING museum. Very small but what they have is very fun for all age ranges. Staff is nice too! 10-15€ entrance for students and adults respectively. Can highly recommend if you want some fun!

  • 5/5 Christos T. 2 years ago on Google
Definitely something different and fun! Lots to see and do!

  • 5/5 Denis 1 year ago on Google
We had to wait in line for 30 minutes, but one of the staff handed our some puzzles so that we can play with them while waiting. Great place, where you can have a lot of fun, and make great photos.

  • 3/5 Michael J. 1 year ago on Google
Overall a good place. The only problem is when you come with 4 teenagers it doesn't worth it. We paid 68 euros for less than 1 hour since the place is very small. Another drawbacks is internet. Many of the tricks were shared over the internet so you already know them. So bottom line I wouldn't recommend due to the price. Would recommend to do family tickers as well.

  • 4/5 Vittoria 1 year ago on Google
I really fun place to go. Recommend to go with children and freinds, I love the picture illusions! I waited around 15 minutes but others would wait longer, the tickets are fairly priced and paying in advance doesn't do much.

  • 3/5 Erik M. 1 year ago on Google
Museum is quite small. Waiting lines maybe long due to the limited capacity of the museum. We booked tickets in advance but because the museum does not opperste with time slots still had to wait in line. Having said that the museum is fun, for most adults it is a short visit with kids it should be a lot more entertaining, so a definite place to go if you are visiting Vienna with kids.

  • 3/5 Alexia Z. 1 year ago on Google
Nicely curated and fun to go to on a rainy day. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed, as I expected more - very small, max 1 hr. Highlight was the tunnel to go through. Most of the time packed with school groups or kids.

  • 5/5 Leon R. 2 years ago on Google
Nice staff. Good prices. A lot of interesting facts are acknowledged by the visitors. Good for family, couples, teenagers and everybody else.

  • 3/5 Esdras S. 1 year ago on Google
Nice little museum with fun activities and such a nice and helpful staff. It is indeed kinda small but I didn't have a long wait like others commented so for me the overall experience was positive. If bringing kids, I'd say they should be 5 years or older to really enjoy the illusions.

  • 3/5 Panda C. 2 years ago on Google
Nice, but completely overpriced. A corridor and some 2-3 rooms with known optical illusions which you experience in no more than 20 minutes. Not worth the 13 euros for adults and 9 euros for children we paid.

  • 5/5 Vlaho 1 year ago on Google
The museum is a very fun experience for families especially. If you plan to go on a date there you'll have to ask someone to take pictures for you because you need a third person for some pictures to work. It's a very interesting place displaying the tricks on your mind.

  • 4/5 tal i. 1 year ago on Google
It was fun to visit and definitely a good place to get warm when it's cold outside. Note that the museum isn't big and some of the pictures points gets a bit crowded.

  • 5/5 Shane Y. 1 year ago on Google
Full place. Friendly staff. Warning, while it was fun and I do not regret going, it is not a long visit, very short. About about an hour.

My friends and I visited during the week (as we read it tends to be crowded during the weekend) - definitely recommend this way! We had an absolute blast because we didn't expect the visit to be so informative and fun. The staff welcomed us warmly and explained the importance of proactive participation due to the nature of the museum. This proved out to be true as we spent around an hour and a half exploring different optical illusions and interactive exhibits. Some are well known, but it feels different to see them displayed. Our minds were really tricked on several occasions, which sparked our curiosity to figure out how and why these effects occur (for example the one with reading the color names out loud). There were also a dozen of wooden games/brain puzzles displayed around the museum, which we tried to solve - some of them more successfully then others 😅 The highlights were of course the photo stations were we could goof around and create some memories 😄 We spent a considerable amount of time creating photos in the room that distorted our sizes in hilarious ways. The infinity room was also really interesting as it created a seemingly endless space with a set of mirrors - also great for funny or creative photos! There were instances where our balance and the perception of space was challenged, for example in the rotating tunnel or the tilted room were we could finally pretend to be able to do the Micael Jackson pose! The staff was super friendly and helpful, as they gave us some advice on how to take the most creative shots! 😊 In sum, highly recommended for a day out with friends!! Its a great destination if you are curious to try and learn something new and have fun in the meantime! I am not including a lot of photos as not to spoil the experience, but make sure to take your time to explore and appreciate everything this museum has to offer, because it does offer a lot!
