I think this is either a hit or miss depending on your taste. I recommend the larger Belvedere palace for the much more famous artworks such as Klimt and Monet. However the pieces displayed here are as impressive in their own way and the exhibitions are constantly changing so look ahead of time to see whether you want to go.

The lower belvedere is much smaller than the upper one. But it also contains richly decorated interiors and further masterpieces of art. In my opinion, it is worth visiting the Belvedere Palace, a wonderful historical place, I recommend at least 5-6 hours to explore all magic places.

How to make your visitors angry? The museum Lower Belvedere did it!!! I bought tickets for the Klimt exhibition in both places, the Upper Palace was stunning, then we went down to the Lower Palace and wanted to enter the exhibition, the guy at the entrance sent us back with the words “you can only enter without you handbag”!!! We are standing in front of him with anger in our faces. We have little crossbody handbags, full of value, why shall we store our little handbags? The unfriendly answer “we are belonging to VanGoch museums, that’s the new rule, and all over the world its the same rule” Anger and questions marks in our eyes!!! Dear Museum, you should inform your customers about this rule when we are buying our tickets!!! And by the way, your employees are very unfriendly! What a disaster for international visitors!!!

I love the trees exhibition is fantastic excellent collection not to be missed. Tickets are kind of expensive for 26 Euro for three museums but each and every one of them was excellent and I spent about 8 hours there. Modern exhibition on trees was excellent and thought-provoking not to be missed. By the way it's three Euro per person cheaper if you buy the tickets online I'm

After visiting belvedere, it was only natural to visit lower belvedere. It hosted an art exhibition that i enjoyed a lot. The path to go there was through the gardens so it was nice even before we arrived.

    great exhibitions

A nice surprise, but not as nice a selection as the upper. Still a nice reprieve from the upper Belvedere. Only takes about 20 - 40 minutes through the lower building. We didn’t spend anytime in the other portion of the garden. I’m sure about an hour to two hours would do it for this section.

Smaller than Belvedere, this museum is not crowded and there was no queue to get in. The art inside varies a lot, there was an exhibition about trees and oxygen but there is also the orangery and the old stables with more medieval paintings. Overall it is worth a visit, but only if you got extra time.

Enjoyed my visit, very nice layout with unique and fantastic artwork. But, it gets hectic, which could make it hard to enjoy depending on the person. Go early! (December 2022)

A lot smaller than Upper Belvedere, but I would highly recommend to visit together with Upper Belvedere, if you have an extra time. If you have a limited time and must choose one, I would perhaps choose only Upper Belvedere, which exhibits many of the best Austrian art pieces and collections. I bought a combo ticket that allows me to visit both. It took me 40 minutes to tour around Lower Belvedere.

The Lower Belvedere served as the living quarters of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Luxurious splendor is visible in the Grotesque Hall, the Marble Gallery and the Golden Room. Temporary exhibitions are displayed in the Lower Belvedere and in the Orangery. In the elegant stable, where the prince's personal horses once stood, you can now admire medieval art.

The small brother of the upper Belvedere The Baroque palace was built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy. You can find some modern art exhibitions and my favourite renaissance art.

A shorter and more compact experience, less crowded but still very worth the trip, several exhibition areas that are great fun to visit and experience. Large paintings, room of gold are just some of the highlights. Go see for yourselves!

Lovely collection of art! The building is magnificent from outside and doesn't require a ticket to roam in the gardens visible in the pictures here. Entry into the museum will however require a ticket which is not costly, if combined with the Upper Belvedere.

The gardens were not really my thing but the lower gallery in the Belvedere I found very peaceful. I found myself alone in rooms with the art which was, at that time very large canvasses - it was quite special and made quite an impression on me.

Wonderful museum. The exhibitions are small but dense of nice art. It can be very crowded.

There was amazing exhibition “Klimt Inspired By”, with a lot of amazing art. I liked it more than the Upper Belvedere. The rest of the museum is also worth visiting. We were only confused a lot that they requested to put all bags in storage, even the smallest ones.

It is an art museum. If you are interested in art and paintings then go here. If you are not into arts and paintings then this place is boring. Better roam around the open gardens which are free and take a some good pictures.

It would be a shame to come to Vienna and not see it. The garden is very enjoyable.

Fine addition to Upper Belvedere, this is a must see. A few exhibitions, including Medieval & Modern art.

Old palace converted into a museum. Large garden in front with a few Feminine Sphinx like statues.

The slightly smaller counterpart of the Beldevere Palace. Hosts seasonal art exhibitions. Not as grand as Upper Belvedere but still an interesting place to visit. Good to see both palaces. There's a tram station directly outside that connects to city center.

A "must see" while in Vienna. Very grand and of course, the Klimts.... but so much more to see. It's really nice that you can leave to find a great lunch somewhere close and return on the same ticket. We made a day of it and loved it.

Only pay the entrance if you enjoy art, inside museum's and gardens. Don't go in if u only want to see the gardens. Must if you like Gustav Klimt, and palaces rooms.

We saw an exhibition about Venice, which was nice. The old stables held a lot of medieval art and the orangery had an exhibit on light in paintings. Very accessible--few to no steps and lots of sloped walks and wheelchair friendly.

I love museums and I really enjoyed it You have upper belvedere and lower belvedere 🖼 Sometime they have exhibitions like last time it was an exhibition for Dalí

What a lovely mix of classical and contemporary in the 'Trees' exhibition. We were pleased to be introduced to Joseph Rebell. Phenomenal representation of light in his landscapes exhibition.

I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the Dalí - Freud exhibition at the Lower Belvedere and it quite honestly blew my mind. For some reason I expected it to be way smaller, and although the space is indeed limited (and perhaps the exhibition could've benefited from something larger, as others have pointed out), it far, far exceeded my expectations! A real treat, and the exhibition's in-depth catalog, Dalí - Freud: An Obsession, should not be overlooked, as it really is the perfect memento.

Small place, beautiful, outside and inside. Was expecting more. The lower part was closed due to renovation so we got to see the first two rooms, the center room with four sculptures, once white sculpture ina small room and the art colection. Lots of paintings, a shop and a beautiful yellow room. The halway is nice. Took us a 30 min to get out since we did not admired to much the paintings. But over all worth the price if you love art or if you want to see just the inside of the lower palace.

Beautiful architecturally, and the collection does not disappoint. Upper Belvedere collection more closely aligned with my taste personally.

  • 5/5 Nikos G. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent art exhibitions displayed. It is not as big as the upper Belvedere, but the quality of the paintings is really astonishing.

This place is gigantic, middle of the city and it is great. The rooms, the arcutecture, the interior design, the garden/ outskirts, everything is beautiful. Big representation of how crazy the monarchs in central europe went when it came to spending money on luxurious housing and an elaborate way of living. I would recommend for everybody visiting Vienna to come here and see for themselves. Have a nice trip and goodbye.

It's a nice addition to the upper belvedere. I think though, that it's not worth it if you don't visit the upper one. It had a nice exhibition about Venice,The "Orangerie" with some painting & the medieval stables.

Such a beautiful place in the middle of this beautiful, modern city - there are actual residential buildings overlooking these gardens which I just can't wrap my mind around - such a dream come true!
