Very beautiful passage full of shops. The main building was constructed in the late 1850s by the national bank of that time.

This is a passage thru time, you can see and feel the elegance and style of an era long gone by. It is amazing and you are left with a sense of wonder, at the beauty and magnificence. Take time to see and view.

The Ferstel passage is located in Vienna historic old town, near the Café Central (Palais Ferstel) and it’s kind of small passage in a covered historic building with some beautiful transparent ceiling, some boutique stores and restaurants, including a beautiful fountain and it’s really nice to walk through it. Eli: 5 / Serge: 4+ Recommended: Yes, It’s a free and cool passage to discovery.

Ferstel Passage offers a mixed experience. The historic architecture and ambiance are undeniably charming, providing a glimpse into Vienna's past. It's a pleasant spot for a leisurely stroll or a coffee break. However, it doesn't quite earn a higher rating due to the limited range of shops and dining options available. While the aesthetics are impressive, the practicality and variety could be improved. Additionally, at times, it can become crowded, affecting the overall experience. In summary, Ferstel Passage is worth a visit for its historical charm, but it falls short of a higher rating due to its limited offerings and potential for crowding.

Beautiful but not very big place. Has a few overpriced shops but very nice atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in a fantasy movie.

A very fine upscale shopping and dining passage/atrium in the center of Vienna. Wonderful cafes and restaurants and also home to my favorite chocolatier in Vienna (Xocolat). Feels like a mini Galleria in Milan.

Such a beautiful and cosy viennese place! Now, at lockdown time you can buy a Glühwein here for take away, to walk around. Just look at this Christmas tree! :)

פינה נסתרת במרכז וינה . מקום קסום עם חנויות בתיקפה ומסעדות מפתיעות לחלוטין The Ferstel Passage- favourite passage in Vienna The Palais Ferstel is one among many in Vienna that is rather unassuming, and that you may have walked past many times without recognizing that it is there. That’s not because its unimpressive or unmemorable, but rather is located in and amongst a veritable cornucopia of Viennese real estate, such that it no longer stands out. The Palais Ferstel is one of a few buildings scattered around the city that has a passage going through it, which is open to the public – temporarily, or so they say. Above the passage you will find the words “Bis auf Widerruf gestatteter Durchgang”, which means the passage is accessible until further notice. The Palais Ferstel was built between 1856-1860, and this ‘temporarily’ accessible passage was designed as a shopping arcade in the tradition of the great Parisian shopping passages. By the turn of the century, this passage had developed into something of a social scene – it was here that members of Vienna’s high society met to shop, stroll, and gossip. Walking through the passage today, with its fantastic arches and glass roof, transports one back to the height of the Habsburg Empire and the social lives of its leisure classes. Though it is today no longer the center of the social scene, it’s a lovely place for some window shopping and an afternoon glass of wine – and since there has been no “Widerruf” since the 19thcentury, we think its safe to say that it will remain open and accessible to the public! Amazing place!! Very beautiful closed road. It's the oldest mall! It's worth a visit there.

overated but of course it has its charm. obviously locals stay away from this cafe as it is always crowded with tourists. there are so many charming old cafes in Vienna to enjoy that this one is more of a musium to be visited by all, and sonewhere you can enjoy tranquility coffee moment.

Stunning little passage in the heart of Vienna city center, with upmarket stores and plenty of cafes. Make sure to look up as you sip your coffee or just strolling through.

Another architectural gem that contributes to Vienna's uniqueness. The Ferstel Pass is a passageway that runs through the Palais Ferstel building. Ferstel, a practical architect, designed a shortcut through the building itself because it opens onto two streets. This shortcut not only saves passengers time and energy, but also showers them with the impression of refined luxury, elegance and meaning. Not to be missed.
