This wonderful open public space, green area in the city limits of Vienna is a place of relief and ease. In former days part of the Otto-Wagner hospital for mental diseases, it has been opened to the public in the late seventees. The area contains large woodland and natural meadows also as fruit- and nuttrees. One can see a lot of wild live like deers, red squirrels, woodpeckers,... In winter, if there's enough snow, the urban administration organizes cross country ski-trails. Nearby Buslines 52A, 46A, 46B, 48A, 47A Dogs and bikes not allowed.

One of my favorites if in need for a hiking in nature. It's perfect both in winter and summer too.

One of the nicest natural parks on Vienna. A lot to walk around, perfect for kiting and picknicking. The playground is very very big, although, they don't have that many features for kids. It's a perfect location for a nice quick relaxation trip

This is just a beautiful place to go if you're looking to get out of the city for a bit. The forests are worth exploring, the playground is good for kids, and the views from the tops of the hills here make for a great sunset.

Historic park that still hosts a hospital that is going to be a university in the future. More up the hill there is a real recreational area without concrete and a nice view on the Vienna woods

Very natural area with many very old fruit trees (cherries, plums, etc.), as well as some nut trees. Large meadows and a children's playground a little out of the way (conducive to peace and quiet). Dogs and bicycles not allowed! A beautiful view of the south of Vienna. 2 water fountains and several benches and a few tables, as well as a public toilet, complete the place.

Very beautiful Windy place standing tall above the Ottakring. Best place to hang around with family during the spring and summer.

Stunning example of Jugendstil architecture set in the old Steinhof hospital grounds. The large park behind the church invites to walks in the Vienna woods. Steinhofgründe are easily accessible from different directions via public transportation. Plan for half a day of easy walks or some light hikes.

Pure nature with lots of potential for relaxation. The Otto Wagner Church is a real eye-catcher and a piece of Viennese history.

Nice view. Beautiful trees. Not many people. Wide fields with wild flowers. Birds singing... and some people walking around in their sleeping costumes from the neighbouring psychiatrist institute. Very nice place. Magic :)

A treasured remnant of other times. The quiet wooded grounds helped heal the psyches of many patients, even though there were dark days under the fascists. Church is a wonderful design, especially the angels. Hopefully this place will not be stolen from the public by politicians, builders and radical ideologues.
