We went on the 1st Sunday of the month so it was free. Get ready for a walk in the forest to get there. The place itself is not as glorious as other Austrian castles and villas but it’s charming. It definitely is not worth it to go in a day when it’s not free. The nature around and the garden are beautiful.

I would like to share our thoughts on the recent experience at this property. We visited this place with our 3 year old daughter hiking up to have some relaxing time at the cafe. To keep people off grass the fence is fully electrified and with little to no signage. A 3 year old who was excited and hiked all the way up touched the fence to look at flowers and got a massive shock and dropped down. We checked as to what caused it and was a significant for an adult as well. We were just lucky that she escaped with 15-20 of crying and a scar on tummy. Either the property should clearly mention that no kids are allowed and electrify the entire place or be considerate for little humans who are exploring the world around People with toddlers be aware!!

Hermesvilla is a really beautiful place. Very peaceful and pleasant environment. The complex is surrounded by big forest. Gardens around the villa are nicely decorated with beautiful flowers, different colors, and all kinds of roses and other bushes cut in different shapes. On both sides of the villa, you can see a few sculptures and fountains as well. From the villa, you can use different paths for walking through the forest. In the forest, it is also possible to see wild animals. All recommendations.

Definitely worth a visit!!! The architecture of the villa is impressive, don't forget to take out your camera and the gardens invite you to linger and take in the peace and quiet. There are relatively few visitors during the week, and you can also take a short break and indulge in the café. You can visit the museum for €8 or every first Sunday of the month for FREE. (price is ok) You can also get there easily by public transport (e.g. 56B from Hietzing - final stop Lainzer Tor). Bus runs every 15/20 minutes during the week or by car. There are parking spaces in front of the entrance to the park, but there is a charge for this! There is also a public toilet right next to the parking lot.

Wonderful villa that was once a gift from Emperor Franz Joseph to Sisi, with the ulterior motive of keeping her in Vienna more often. However, the plan didn't work. Today there is a museum and a cafe in it.

Located on the outskirts of Vienna, Hermesvilla was one of Sisi's residences. It's beautiful on the outside and amazing inside. It is surrounded by a huge park, which is more like a forest. We had an amazing time here. The parkings outside the park are free, so is the entry into the park. The fee for Hermesvilla entry was 7 euro.

A very small palace with but very elegant. Not many exhibits and all descriptions are in German. I went on a free admission day (first Sunday of month is free). Probably not worth it if I had to pay. The Lainzer Garten is very beautiful, and it's free.

The Hermes Villa is located in the Lainzer Tiergarten. Emperor Franz Joseph once gave the villa to Empress Elisabeth, the legendary Sisi, as a "castle of dreams". He wanted to keep his wife, who loved to travel, in Vienna more often. From 1882 to 1886 the famous Ringstrasse architect Carl von Hasenauer built the romantic little palace, whose name derives from the statue of Hermes standing in the garden. Opulently furnished, the building is today regarded as an outstanding example of late romantic villa construction. The best artists of historicism - among them Gustav Klimt and Franz Matsch - designed the imperial private chamber. An exhibition on the first floor shows the history of the house and its inhabitants. Many of Franz Joseph's and Elisabeth's personal belongings as well as original furniture convey the imperial feeling of living in those days. The huge state bed in the empress's bedroom dates back to the time of Maria Theresa. The Hermes restaurant offers gastronomy with a focus on Viennese cuisine and game specialities. The restaurant has been redesigned and sets neo-rustic accents with tongue-in-cheek hunting motifs.

Very nice palace. I admire the architecture and the richness of the decoration of the premises. Many interesting and unusual pieces of furniture, wallpaper, decoration of ceilings, walls, floors

Nice castle / museum to visit. Unfortunately the brochure and help texts were only on German. Outside near the garden (small one) were a restaurant. To reach the place with bus you have to walk the last kilometer, but it’s worth of it.

A beautiful place and worth the trip! Maybe the museum was a little disappointing, I expected maybe more than one floor of the castle, but it was also beautiful and worth seeing. Was the price of €8 too high??? Maybe. At the end of the tour, it was nice to enjoy a small lunch and a drink at the local restaurant

This is a beautiful building in a nice Park. If you have been to the main Sisi landmarks, the inside exhibition will not impress you too much. The thing that will shock you even after many years in vienna is the typical rudeness of all staff - from the ticket sales to the inside security...

Very nice place to visit all year round. I haven’t been inside Villa but I have seen some weddings happening there. There is a cafe restaurant with beautiful terrace behind the Villa. You could spend all day roaming through park and forests around.

Not much to look at, one floor! There were vouchers from the school, so we went there with the girls! Lainzer Zoo clean and beautiful! Also got a ticket for parking without a parking permit 🤣🤦‍♀️stupid thing!! Nevertheless, it was a nice day 🌹🌿 Have fun if you think about a round and don't forget your PARKING TICKET!!

Wonderful, huge landscape park that extends far into the Vienna Woods - ideal for small and large leisurely walks in the wonderful landscape. All circular routes are well signposted with signposts, and even after dozens of visits, the Lainzer Tiergarten with Hermesvilla is a joy every time. Large playground at Lainzer Tor. The villa is home to a very tasteful and authentic museum without Sissi kitsch, but with original furniture and personal items - highly recommended. All in all, an impressive, yet extremely picturesque and very personal complex, which Empress Elisabeth more than understandably described as the “castle of dreams” simply because of its magnificent Kage in the middle of the Vienna Woods.

Nice weather to sit outside. No service outside, long queues to order in the restaurant, staff hectic and unable to cope with the rush of visitors, poorly organized

After a short walk through the woods, the villa appears almost like a magical fairytale castle. We rested in the shade of old trees, had our drinks and continued walking though the forest. It is suitable for families, singles, old and young folks.

There is no English sign in the whole building, if you don't know German you will not enjoy it. For 7 eur it's rather small. Just some fancy furniture. Service by old guys who were rather unpolite.

Magic Castle of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Sisi. You have to walk through a Park for 15 minutes from Lainzer Tor (Bus Stop 55A). Inside the Castle you will find an exhibition about the Life of Empress Sisi. A nice Café in front of the Castle. You can do long walks inside the Park and watching for deers, rabbits and more animals.

It was a nice place to visit outside Vienna. Lots of nice paintings and different objects inside. The architecture looks amazing and I really liked that inside it was a lot of light unlike other places. I was lucky enough to be there on the first Sunday of the month so I didn't have to pay the entry ticket. It was worth the trip.

Visiting Hermesvilla is a great way to experience history and culture in the middle of a large green space (Lainzer Tiergarten). It is a more "modest" palace; the museum is not too large. The building is pretty. Empress Sisi's bedroom and bed is a highlight & there are also other interesting pictures and artifacts in the palace. The courtyard and garden area behind & around the villa is also very pretty and worth seeing, even if you don't go inside. Like most other Wien Museum locations, Hermesvilla is free to visit on the first Sunday of the month.
