This monument stands in tribute to Karl Philipp, Prince of Schwarzenberg, an Austrian field marshal who commanded with distinction during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. The monument is a bronze equestrian statue of the prince. The prince is depicted in military uniform with a cloak over his uniform. Worth a look if you have time.

Szobrának avatásán maga Ferenc József császár is részt vett 1867-ben.

In memory of the marshal who fought bravely for the glory of Kaiserthum Oesterreich in 18th century Europe. He fought, among others, at Ulm, at Hohenlinden, at Wagram, and in the siege of the Šabac fortress, his life was saved by Prince Józef Poniatowski, the future Polish general. They both also fought in the Battle of the Nations in 1813 near Leipzig, in which Poniatowski fell and Schwarzenberg became the great winner of the domination and power of the defeated Napoleon.

(Translated by Google) The statue is Field Marshal Schwarzenberg. On October 16, 1813, the Battle of Leipzig, known as the "Battle of Nations", began. On that day, the sky was drizzling with cold drizzle, and the ground was covered with dense smoke. Under the cover of artillery fire, the coalition forces of Austria, Prussia, Russia, and Sweden launched a fierce offensive against the French army in Leipzig. The battle was commanded by the Austrian Field Marshal Schwarzenberg. After three fierce battles, the coalition forces won a brilliant victory. The defeated French emperor Napoleon has since lost his capital for hegemony in Europe and was forced to abdicate six months later. 54 years after the Battle of Leipzig (1892), Field Marshal Schwarzenberg's heroic figure stood upright on the Black Mountain Square in Vienna.

(Translated by Google) Field Marshal Schwarzenberg commanded the coalition forces in the decisive battle of Leipzig. If one deals with his vita, one can say that he led a life marked by wars. First against Napoleon, then negotiating with Napoleon in terms of marriage, with Napoleon against Russia and finally victorious against him. After he had retired to his estates, he was no longer life long. How many dead he may have seen in all the battles? The epoch is fortunately over - I hope forever.

🍃🍃At the Schwarzenberg Monument in Montenegro Square in Vienna at night, looking at the heroic figure of the general on horseback, with the Monument to the Red Army Heroes behind him, it seems a bit ironic🍃🍃
