We’re locals and decided to spend an evening just to get away and enjoy. And so glad we did. The room with the private terrace was great and look at that wonderful view. And at dinner the food was lovely and the service attentive. We’re definitely going to visit again either the restaurant, the hotel or both. And the castle is fun to explore too.

A place that breathes history. Reichenstein Castle, also known as Falkenburg, sits enthroned above Trechtingshausen on a protruding piece of rock. Its origins can be traced back to the 11th century. A must see If you are in that region.

Stopped in to take a tour of the castle. Wonderful history, well kept grounds. Steep walk up or following parking signs that take you right outside the gate.

Most beautiful castle in the Rhein. I spent three nights there due to a wedding, and what three nights! My room was quiet and perfect, the setting was idyllic, the attention from the employees was great, I couldn’t have been happier. The bride and groom were very pleased with how all turned out, too. Fully recommended!

We went to an event here and it was absolutely perfect. The hotel room was clean with a great view and the staff was beyond nice. The room key even gave us access to explore the castle. Every member of the staff consistently made sure we were taken care of. Highly recommend for all events and even a short getaway.

Can't say enough good things about our stay at Burg Reichenstein. As hotel guests you get free admission to the castle and even after the castle is closed you can wander around the grounds. Because of its elevated location there are great views of the Rhine. We also had dinner at the restaurant on the grounds and it was very good. We happened to be there when the white asparagus is in season and it was very tender. Our meal and our wine were both delicious. As a bonus, a nice buffet breakfast is included as are tea and cake in the afternoon. Highly recommend a stay here. It may be a little more expensive than some hotels but it's worth the splurge.

A stunning castle. I was there just as a museum visitor (there are also a restaurant and a hotel). The museum tells us a lot about the castle and its owners history. Moreover, there are really interesting exhibits from the German Empire and Weimar Republic. The castle has beautyful viewpoints and the atmosphere of 17-19 centuries. It's a pleasure to sit and simply watch Rhine from there. Even during a hot sunny day it was pretty comfortable to be inside. I wouldn't say that it's definitely a must-see but if you haven't visited castles yet, I strongly recommend to come there.

Fantastic castle. So much to see. Give yourself more than 1.5 hours. We didn't have enough time to really enjoy all of it. We didn't stay at the hotel.

This is an awesome castle. I brought my sisters and cousins here when they were visiting Germany for the first time. They loved it. It’s got great views of the Rhein river and really nice gardens too. Been here two times. Would definitely recommend.

This castle is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable and offer great views. The river view is spectacular The museum is awesome and you feel like you are walking through the our own castle so don't forget your tiara! Many beautiful photo opportunities! The restaurant serves delicious food and make sure you try their pumpkin soup (Kürbissuppe) as it is amazing. The entire staff is so kind and helpful and made our stay so wonderful. Make a reservation early!

The hotel and castle (burg) are top notch. The staff is friendly. Having been to 10 burgs, in Western Germany, I put this one at #4. I recommend this place for value and comfort. I only wish they had a boat to the town on the other side of the Rhine. Most of the towns on the opposite side seem to be having a great time. Location was my only down mark. If I knew the train and river boat schedules better, we would have had more fun.

The most wonderful hotel experience I have ever experienced! Unbelievable! You have to come and see for yourself. Such a mystical feeling the entire time you are on the property. We will be back next year!

The hotel is great, beautifully maintained and easy to get around the region from. The staff is also friendly. However, a warning to anyone staying there… there is a cargo train track directly below the hotel and the trains run nonstop all night. While the hotel provides earplugs, I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere on the website or in any reviews, so a word of warning for those looking for a peaceful nights sleep. You won’t get it here without earplugs if you have the window open.

The castle was beautiful, reception staff was helpful. There were a few issues with our dinner experience. We arrived later in the evening around 7:30 Pm for dinner. No staff member greeted us, or even acknowledged us. So we just seated ourselves. Once seated it didn't take too long before a waitress came and took our orders. The food was beautiful. Once our desserts were served we were left completely alone. I understand it is customary to let people sit and talk but, when you notice a customer actively looking to speak with someone, staff should respond. After over 40 minutes, my husband approached a woman at the bar, her response to him was, "I can't help you, you have to ask the boss.". To me this is not the best response to a customer who is spending money in your establishment. Not the best customer service I've ever had.

We stayed in the onsite hotel rooms for a day. That is worth it if just for the novelty. It has nice modern rooms with great views and an interesting layout to fit the castle architecture. As for the museum itself, there's not too much to see. Although the nice views of the surrounding landscape (especially from the watchtower) and the impressive amount of antlers mounted on the walls do standout as highlights. It's worth a stop if you're passing by but maybe not as the main event.

A beautifully maintained castle on the Rhine River, the Burg Reichenstein has a fantastic museum you can walk through on your own, complete with a working bowling, alley and even a costume room where you can dress up in medieval garb. The adjoining hotel is wonderful and makes for a perfect wedding venue. The staff here is absolutely incredible and makes the overall experience five-star.

One of my family favorites for a day trip. The audio tour is very well done, tones to see, as is accessible by road if walking up the steep hill isn’t in your abilities.

I brought my family to this castle in March. I had previously been in December. It's great with some ruins and finished spaces. You get to tour around by yourself and they give you an audio guide. When I went in March, they were inexplicably closed. It stated they were open on their website. They offered no explanation or apology. Just "we're closed".

Visited the museum only but must admit it's been totally worth checking-out, even for families. I enjoyed walking through the rooms, court and garden imagining life of previous centuries. The castle is kept very well and clean. Don't miss it if you are close and plan approx. 1,5h to see everything.

Burg Reichenstein - Museum offers a glimpse into history within a beautiful castle setting. However, the pricey ticket may deter some visitors. While the castle is aesthetically pleasing, but it carries an unexpected ambiance of unhappiness and dullness, diminishing the overall enjoyment of the day. Consideration of the entry cost against the experience is advised for potential visitors.

The castle museum was great. The audio phones gave interesting information and the grounds are beautiful to wander around. We ate lunch as well, that wasn't good. The portions were really small. We were still hungry after. The five stars are for the amazing museum.

It was a beautiful castle, I had an amazing time. My partner and I was there for 2 hours looking at all the great historical items in there. Every room was a WOW moment, highly recommend going there.

Loved the place. Its well kept and there is a lot of historic items. At the entrance you have to register yourself with the Luca app and pay an entrance fee. You get a headset that tells you information about the place and different locations within the castle. If you speak English, let them know before you go in and they set it up for you. If you have a drone, you can fly it only in the front of the Castle... not in the back. You are allowed to take pic inside..and don't forget to wear masks inside. Dogs are not allowed on the inside, but they are gladly to watch them by the entrance..and even give them a water bowl.

A wonderful castle with audio and guided tours available. It's often being restored, so revisiting is suggested every once in a while. I suggest going when the weather is nice, as a large part of the touring is uncovered and has great views.

I've stayed in a thousand hotels in my lifetime and I honestly have to say Burg Reichenstein wins First Place as my Favorite Stay Ever! Thank you for your wonderful, welcoming, lovely, & friendly staff, excellent kitchen crew, and maids that made my stay the best ever. I'll be back.

Really nice collection from the family that lived there mid 1800s and on. The castles that have been redone more recently always feel more homey. You can actually picture people living there and they're not so cold. This one has some really cool features built in, a huge hunting collection, weapons display, iron plates, and wood stove collection. The library and dinning room are so nice and homey.

I had a really nice and relaxing time for the 4 nights I spent at Burg Reichenstein. The fact that breakfast and afternoon tea are served for hotel guests is a big plus. They did a great job at making the rooms comfortable and still maintaining the castle flair. The view of the river Rhein from the restaurant is breathtaking. The museum is also really interesting. Covid-19 safety and hygiene rules could have been followed more closely by the staff, in my opinion.

Very nice location. Unfortunately let down by mediocre service, which is not what I expected when booking such a place. When we arrived we got the wrong room (twin instead of double), however this was quickly and friendly corrected, which was a plus. The room we had was not actually in the castle, but rather in a more modern building on the castle grounds. So if you to actually live in a castle, you need to go elsewhere. The service at the restaurant is slow and waiters seems not to notice their guests. There is no table service outside and one have to actually go to the bar to some kind of attention, if not you probably could wait for hours. Another let down is that the hotel does not have a proper parking, so that you have to park by the road. To top this, I had my car park by the road, which was confirmed by the hotel to be OK on the we arrived, only to be awakened by a rather rude telephone from the reception that ordered me to move my car immediately, with no further explanation where to park it. So; nice location, let down by mediocre service and poor parking. There are much better alternatives in the area, such as Burghotel Auf Schönberg, which offers excellent service in all areas.

Had a fantastic stay at Burg Reichenstein early June 2023. The view out on the Rhine valley is beautiful. The castle itself with its huge shield wall looks breathtaking. The castle houses a museum, for which an audioguide is included for hotel guests. Also included are breakfast and afternoon snacks. WiFi is free and there's no password. WiFi is plenty fast (for the nerds: ~40Mbit/s consistently up/down with a latency/ping RTT of 7ms to DE-CIX Frankfurt).

We celebrated our wedding at Burg Reichenstein. It was simply amazing. The location itself is simply stunning and beautiful. Overlooking the Rhine River from the Burggarten during the reception, dining in the Restaurant / Remise and later partying till the sun comes up in the Kapelleninnenhof...nothing better than this! Service was absolutely brilliant and all of our guests (including ourselves) had a fantastic time!

Just visited the castle and had lunch at their restaurant overlooking the Rhine. I can be spoiled like this every day :) Great castle tour was 9.5 euros per person, visit includes earphone tour, cute explanations- if taking your time, allow 2 hours, 3 with lunch! Enjoy.

We drove over an hour to explore the castle and the museum, however when we arrived it was closed. There was no mentioning of any closure on the website etc so it was a bit disappointing. However once you are across the river the view of the castle is great

This is the best castle tour we have been on. There is an audio tour that tells the history of the castle and the family in an interesting radio show type way. You can walk around the grounds and inside the furnished castle rooms. It was excellent!

I visited this castle on a July weekday afternoon with another adult and my three kids ages 5,3, and 1 years, after visiting Sooneck castle, at about 4pm. We were able to park next to the entrance of the castle though there weren’t many spots that close - I’m not sure where extra parking is. I wore the baby and the older two walked. It was a little overwhelming at first - there is a restaurant on the right but the kasse is in a separate building straight ahead. The staff spoke English and I was able to buy the tickets for us adults and audio guides without difficulty. We then explored the castle at a whirlwind pace because it was so late in the day and my kids were hot and tired. We could easily have spent 2-3 hours there otherwise, as there was SO much to see and explore. They have a kids room with dress up clothes and a performing stage and a reading nook and a few miniature village displays. There is a tower as well as a high walkway on the top of the fortress walls with great views. The interior of the castle had tons of artifacts and decorated rooms and signage about its history. We were there for about one hour before we headed home to feed my kids. The audio guide was interesting but too slow a pace for us to listen to all of it and keep my kids happy. Truly a beautiful castle that even small kids will enjoy.
