The most frustrating hotel experience I’ve ever had. Human fluids on the sheets, cobwebs, stained carpet on the hallway outside, and negligent customer service. If this was a 3-star hotel, I wouldn’t mind if they changed the sheets, said I’m sorry, and called it a day. But it’s “5 stars”, right? Changing dirty sheets is the very bare minimum. It should be an obligation, not a favor. But the hassle of it all, having to complain, waste time on this issue. And no, they didn’t go out of their way to provide any kind of comp or amenity whatsoever. If you’ve booked this through a credit card partnership program and expect to get an upgrade, they will always say they don’t have it. The credits cannot be used for the spa or laundry either, you will be better off somewhere else. We won’t be coming back. Edit: The sheets were changed promptly thanks to the person who was there during the late night shift. But the attempts below were only given after I, as a customer, went out of my way and complained 3 times. At that point, I’m sorry, but we are a couple traveling without kids. Having more beds is not useful. Appreciate the effort but did not change my opinion.

As a family of four we spent to two nights at the Hilton Boeira Garden Hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia (Porto). We had an excellent experience, the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our room was beautiful with a patio and great views of the courtyard. We utilized the indoor pool/spa and found it to be a relaxing experience with the jetted pool, jacuzzi, and steam room. The men's and women's locker rooms were well appointed with every you need to shower and freshen up. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant (Raizes) and both the service and food were perfect. The outdoor grounds and landscape was amazing and carried the same relaxing and calming experience as the interior of the hotel. There is an outdoor heated pool that is both scenic and private. The hotel provides a nice private and welcoming experience and everything was well taken care of. The property is across the Douro River from Porto. You can walk down to Porto, about 30 minute walk, or drive 10-15 minutes. Vila Nova de Gaia itself has a lot of amenities to offer, shopping, cafes, restaurants and much more all a short walk or drive from the hotel. We truly enjoyed our experience and look forward to returning in the future.

Had executive suite which was very spacious, clean and had a lot of storage. Separate living room area to room was nice. The on site car park was also extremely handy. Unfortunately i can only give 3 star for service. I had called to ask for laundry to be collected twice and was going to bed early as i had driven all day. Please pick up by X time i requested, but they came to wake me up after that time to collect laundry which was 50 minutes after original request and when they said they would send someone immediately.. also the bar was very short staffed resulting in some very long wait times.

This hotel is absolute heaven! The people are all so nice and helpful. They welcomed us and helped us with everything we could need. The hotel is just a little outside the main city of Porto but super accessible via the metro which is 5 minutes from the hotel. It is the perfect location to be close to the center of things but still feel you are able to retreat to a quieter space at the end of the day. The grounds are gorgeous, the pool is lovely and the breakfast is one of the best we’ve ever had at any five star hotel. It’s a buffet and you can also get anything from the menu you want and it’s all delicious. The rooms are modern and new with gorgeous wood everywhere and lighting that makes it feel luxurious. The mattress and sheets are heavenly as well. I can’t say enough good things about the experience here. We will definitely come back to Porto and to the Boeira Garden Hilton.

We had quite an odd experience during our stay. As a Hilton Gold member, I was expecting a level of service that wasn't quite there compared to stays at other properties. The staff seemed very passive and reactive, which at first I thought was understaffing. But time and time again, when there were multiple team members around we were left waiting or sometimes baffled by the lack of helpfulness when we were engaged. For example, when we arrived for check-in, there were only two desks in operation. One of them was processing a check-in, the other had a man on then phone. There was a third member of staff just organising papers. No one acknowledged our existence for a good 10 mins. The check-in process was clunky and lacked any helpful detail for us. That's not even where our issues stopped. We were given a room on the -1 level and directly below the bar. The noise level was too much, even for this family of Londoners! When we asked to be moved, we weren't really given many options and felt like we were being talked out of moving to a room that better suited our needs. When we eventually moved to a different room on the same floor, the issues went away. The staff were unhelpful and unapologetic. A theme that continued when asking for dinner recommendations or anything any purported 5* hotel would usually not only offer but excel at. The last thing I want to mention is that we filed a complaint about the heavy chemicals in the pool. Despite the claim that they use a saltwater system, I had a skin reaction to whatever they had added into the system. My wife's bikini also discoloured significantly from it. We filed a ticket to complain about that but have not heard anything whatsoever. I cannot recommend this hotel whatsoever, despite there being good features (lovely grounds, out of the way of the main hustle/bustle).

It was an absolute terrible experience. I really regret staying here. How this place qualifies as 5 stars? It's 3 star Holiday Inn quality. There's only 1 restaurant, no bell man, quality of the rooms are subpar, no privacy in the bathroom. The rooms are basically all the same with a little extra balcony space for the upgrade. The rooms also mostly face each other so privacy is only really available when you close the blinds. The staff feel like they don't care and want to do the very bare minimum. There's a passive aggressive and nonchalant response for everything. Management should really be paying attention. For example they wanted to charge us $6 to bring utensils to the room. The hotel credit doesn't apply to the spa that's in the hotel! Never again.

The hotel staff were very unfriendly and inexperienced. They charged the bottle water sitting in the room. During the stay the refurbishment was in processing, the unpleasant smell everywhere. The front desk very stubborn to the rules for rooms exchange and breakfast benefits. I’m the diamond member and booked two rooms. I have been rejected to upgraded my room type to the suite even though there’s a room available and during the quiet period. And they refused to give all of my family member for breakfast even my partner is a gold member as well. I read some reviews and found the benefit offer to diamond member was quite diversified. Some members get suit upgrade and welcome pack in the room including fruits and port wine. Unfortunately my experience here was quite poor. Will I come back again for Cruio brand? Maybe no. The service standard doesn’t match deserve 5 stars.

Staff were lovely and very welcoming. We were in Portugal delivering pianos on a work trip so turned in polo tops and shorts, not looking the part, however staff didn't make us feel unwelcome for that at all. The hotel itself is stunning, very well decorated and immaculately clean. Big, well equipped room. The jungle shower was amazing. Breakfast was great - big selection of food for every taste. We had a big van so parked in the outdoor parking which was still very secure. Overall very impressed and we will stay here for our holiday later in the year after having a great experience for just an overnight stay.

Absolutely beautiful hotel! Cleanest room we've ever had. Immaculate! Breakfast buffet was amazing! Everything you could ever want. Pool was gorgeous. Would love to go back and stay again!

The hotel pool is amazing! It is heated, saltwater, and so tranquil. It's located inside the spa, and you have to wear a swim cap, but you can buy that at the spa. It's the best! We ordered room service and it arrived in 20 minutes. Perfectly prepared. The restaurant staff member that I spoke to, was delightful and very helpful. He also spoke English (almost) better than I do! This is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are clean, modern, comfortable and relaxing.

This hotel is amazing! The outside looks nice with an outdoor pool and beautiful architecture. The inside has a beautiful design. I was upgraded to balcony room because of my gold Hilton status. The indoor pool is literally a panty-dropper and there’s even a steam room, sauna and a gym. Even ordering room service, they remember your gold status and give you an additional box of chocolates and a free glass of port to enjoy at the bar. They take care of you here, come check it out!

This hotel markets themselves as a 5 star hotel so the review included is based on that. Which has a certain level of expectations with your stay, which frankly you won’t get here. Reasons in no specific order: 1. Floors in the halls are absolutely filthy, this is the off season so traffic is lower and clearly not cleaned anytime recently 2. Toilet seat is broken and loose 3. Cobwebs in the room 4. Human fluids in the bed 5. Room is listed as a king mattress but It’s really two twins pushed together 6. Even their sign on entrance is half burnt out lights To make things right hotel staff offered the following: - a fruit basket (pathetic, really) - a room “upgrade” which really was just unlocking a shared door to the next room besides ours which would just be 2 rooms and this is rather useless to our needs. For the human fluids issue they did swap the sheets out but refused to provide any compensation overall. I asked what the room upgrade would be they said 30-35 euros and I asked for that as compensation and was declined. It should also be noted that it took 2 arguments with various hotel managers to be even offered anything at all. No above and beyond support to make the situation right was provided without a bunch of hassle. Again, none of this is 5 star hotel level of care and compassion you’d expect. Honestly, you’re on vacation and you book a stay like this at a property to be well taken care of by a confident staff. This entire experience screams otherwise and the whole property upon closer inspection is nothing but a facade. If you stay at this property and wish to roll the dice and hope you get lucky and don’t require any support by the staff go for it. Otherwise, just look elsewhere for far better level of service from the numerous other hotels near by. Extremely disappointed, hotel management can do far better and require far more training. 3 star hotel experience at best. Heres how the convo went with management as an example: Me: explaining the issues Management, and this is the exact quote and first thing they say to me after I express my concerns: “what do you want?” Honestly this shocked me. Nothing like “you’re right we could do better this is unacceptable, what can we do to make it right?” Staff is simply just not equipped to handle the roles and responsibilities that a 5 star hotel experience requires. Words can’t express my disappointment…

The stylish rooms , the garden with birds singing is really good . Food is quite expensive though; 6 euros for a bottle of water , 25 euros per person for breakfast . Note that the pool size is not as big as it is perceived in the pictures, 18m. long . It is far away from the Center 25 minutes to 30 minutes to reach to the other side of the bridge where city center is and the route is hilly, so count in your budget for Uber transfers . No nice cafes or restaurants around . Hilton policy is very strict on rules, rather than delighting the consumer ... no little gestures to feel welcomed and valued other than free black tea and coffee in the room .

Pro: Was welcomed with a taste of the local port wine. You can taste all variants at the producer at the same compound, with a discount for purchasing it. Received an upgrade to a suite. And what a suite it was! Separate toilet seat in the bathroom, mirror in the sleeping room which turns out to be a TV, living room area, entrance area and small balconies. While we were getting our clothes in the cabinets, we received a welcome gift for being a valued diamond member. We definitely felt appreciated! Breakfast area with a big choice of fresh fruits, bread, cakes and drinks. The only kind of negative was that we were not informed that Omelets are on request, but this is whining at the highest level. I‘ve been in a lot of Hilton Hotels all over the world, including Waldorf Astoria in New York (real bad), Waldorf Astoria in Berlin (not bad), but this hotel was the best Hilton I have ever visited! Central Porto was a 15 minutes walk over the river. Great houses and views. We definitely enjoyed our stay there, and will come back. Thank you for the great time!

Being a Diamond member I was looking forward to my stay at the Boeira Garden and enjoying the garden location, the only problem there is little close by and quite a walk to get anywhere and the area around is steep. I was upgraded apparently and the room is spacious but you look out on a dark courtyard and the quality of finish was not as good as expected. The bar area has no sole and not a place to spend much time, and the restaurant area where breakfast is served needs a refresh already. Although you will not want to spend too long here as the staff are not welcoming and the quality of produce available is poor. I would suggest you look elsewhere if you are paying the full rates.

This is our 2nd visit. Favourite hotel in Porto but only if you drive. The location is on Gaia side which means it is far away from all attractions on the other side of the river. But it has the most amazing spa and indoor pool and outdoor pool facilities. The property is well maintained, beautiful and rooms are amazing! Of course you can expect the 5* Hilton treatment. Hard to find food but there is a supermarket within walking distance.

As a Hilton Diamond member … Boeira Garden is my hotel of choice whenever I come to Porto … The location : calm and relaxing ambiance from busy Porto The best are the staffs : always smiling, welcoming and helpful. As an Asian traveler, I truly feel welcomed at this property and would recommend any other travelers to be here. Front Office and Breakfast crew are among the best. Thank you for all warm welcome. I’ll see you again soon…. Mr Chuklin

Porto is a really busy Town and there is a lot to see. So even more it's wonderful to have a nice, quiet and comfortable Place like the Boeira Hotel offers. It's like a quiet Oasis not far away from everything. The wonderfull Garden with the Pool Area, yummy Food in the Restaurant with super friendly Service, a nice drink or Snack at the Pool Bar or in the evening at the Bar in the Hotel. We got Pampered at it's best from the whole Crew and i would love to come back soon!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Boeira Garden Hotel, and I cannot express enough how delightful my experience was. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and infused with a sense of tranquility. One of the highlights of my stay was the outstanding service provided by the hotel staff, particularly Joao, Bernardo, and Pedro. Their dedication to ensuring a memorable and comfortable stay was truly exceptional. Bernardo's professionalism and politeness was remarkable. His service at the bar is what made us feel we made the right decision about staying in this hotel. His friendly demeanor and willingness to assist created a positive and stress-free environment. With his infectious enthusiasm and genuine warmth, went above and beyond to make me feel at home. His attention to detail and personalized service truly made a lasting impression. The Boeira Garden Hotel itself is a gem, with its lush surroundings and elegant design. The attention to detail in the décor and the serene ambiance created a perfect retreat. The combination of the hotel's beautiful setting and the exceptional service provided by Joao, Bernardo, and Pedro made my stay truly unforgettable. In conclusion, my time at Boeira Garden Hotel was made exceptional by the incredible team members who went above and beyond to ensure a positive experience. Joao, Bernardo, and Pedro exemplify the epitome of hospitality, and their efforts are undoubtedly a credit to the hotel's reputation. I wholeheartedly recommend Boeira Garden Hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and welcoming escape with a touch of genuine warmth and outstanding service.

Surpassed my expectations. Most staff members couldn't have been more solicitous and helpful. My HH status was recognized with the usual benefits in addition to a wonderful room upgrade. Everything was pristine, well maintained, and fully functional. Scads of space and a balcony with chairs and a table. Port and Pastéis de Nata were provided as a welcome amenity. I had occasion to dine at Raizes, the hotel restaurant, and was most pleased with my main course of beef tenderloin. It was tender, succulent, and prepared to the exact level of doneness requested. I found the price to be more than reasonable for the quality and ambiance provided. Such a satisfying and pleasant stay at a modern hotel set in a private park setting. Porto has some outstanding hotels from which to choose, and The Boeira Gardens is definitely one of them.

I mean is there any greater place to stay at in Porto? No. This is the place! They meet every bit of international standards, very detail is perfect and Congrats to the staff! Marcia, Victor you guys made my day! I was greeted by a welcome drink: port Wine at check in! And it was served perfectly. I mean what better way tk start a stay. Thank you so much! The rooms meet all international standards of hug end hotels, beautiful ultra comfy and quiet. You won’t hear neighboors and can work remotely comfortably. I tried the spa this time: wowww the steam room is perfectly hot and the water of the internal pool is heated. It was beyond perfect! I’m currently staying here. This is my favourite hotel to stay at in Porto and more than recommend it. We had our family stay during our wedding last summer here. It’s fantastic. I recommend!!!

Great location across in Gaia. I really appreciated coming back to a quiet location because in Porto there are tourists everywhere! Clean and modern rooms. Very friendly staff at the front desk and at the bar in the evening. Thank you for a lovely stay. Highly recommended!

Amazing setting, feels like an oasis in the heart of a bustling city. Staff were very helpful, including Luis on reception and Bernardo at the pool. I would give the hotel 5 stars had I not been charged 6 euro for some still water, which seems quite cheeky.

Love our stay at this hotel. It is not very far away from the bridge, just 15 mins walk and you are on the bridge and can see beautiful Porto. The house cleaning service was great, our only concern was that they don’t keep water in the room everyday, they just provide one bottle on the first day. I have never seen that in any hotel, I think they should change that policy and provide water everyday. They also welcomed us with port wine and chocolate, which we loved it.

Very friendly and comfortable hotel within good walking distance of Porto centre. Nice and quiet. Amazing pool area and the food in the restaurant was great as well. Rooms comfortable and clean. I enjoyed the complementary port that is made on site on check in very tasty. Be aware it is in an area with few nearby restaurants so u will need to eat in porto or in the hotel.

As a Hilton Diamond member I stay at a lot of Hilton hotels and this has been one of the best! It’s absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The service is outstanding and the breakfast delicious. This property is also historic and has a port winery on the premise, can’t ask for anything else!! We got upgraded to a suite with great views. I also really liked their wellness pool and gym.

Quiet and calm Hotel close to the city center. Had a minor issue with our room which was solved within 2 hours by Mr. Pinto. Thank you very much for the extreme customer orientation. We will stay here again and recommend it to our friends & Family. In General the staff overall is very friendly and welcoming!

Amazing Hotel and friendly and helpful staff. Love everything about it. Rooms a spacious and clean. It's quiet. It also seems to be great for families. Great playground and a lot of space. I was traveling alone, but I will come back with the family. Thank you so much!

A wonderful hotel - an oasis in the heart of Gaia. A great pool, gorgeous rooms, great service and a lovely leisurely ambience. It's not all that near anything - except the village of Gaia which has nice bakeries and lots of healthcare services but no restaurants or nice bars. But it is close enough to the metro and only a few stops from the centre of Porto. Definitely worth staying here if you're thinking of Porto and would like to be away from the heat; the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Boeira Garden Hotel is a great hotel for a getaway to Porto. The inner city of Porto is within easy reach. I am especially impressed by the friendly and professional staff. I also had breakfast daily and dinner once. Great beverage quality with again very friendly service. The only recommendation I could make would be to check the temperature of the swimming pool. It felt very cold, and I left quite soon. Other than that, it stayed in a neat, clean and spacious room, with a beautiful garden.

The staff, management and owners take pride in their hotel and look after their customers in a friendly approachable manner. The food was very good especially the chicken Caesar salad! Location was excellent and it was easy to walk to many places of interest. I will have no hesitation booking to stay here when next in Porto.

An absolutely BEAUTIFUL property. The service was absolutely impeccable. I definitely recommend staying here if you want to have some refuge from all the tourists and hustle and bustle of the popular areas. The hotel was in walking distance of WOW and all the wine shops in Gaia (if you like port wines I recommend staying in Gaia for ease of access to great wine). Also, I typically never give a second look to products associated with hotels I’m staying at, but their tawny port was the best we had even after going to Douro valley and doing other tawny port tastings through Gaia and Porto. Go to the Boeira Winery attached to the hotel. It’s amazing!! Ana at reception was so helpful and Sarah in the restaurant is absolutely fantastic.

The staff was consistently wonderful throughout our stay. The indoor pool was the best we’ve seen with a dry sauna and a separate steam sauna as well as a hot tub and lots of pool jets. The breakfast was the best we had out of 7 luxury hotels in Portugal (the eggs Benedict are not to be missed). The roof terrace is nice place to watch the sun set with a drink. The only negative thing was that the hotel has a guest floor under the main level. We found it hard to sleep with the early breakfast activity over our room.

  • 3/5 Austin M. 1 year ago on Google
My family and I were quite disappointed to find that small children are not allowed in the indoor pool area (there is no mention of this on the hotel's website). However, the friendly staff, comfortable beds, and quiet setting went a long way toward making up for it. It is a bit of a trek down the hill to take in the sights but it's walkable. Although not far, the two paths we took were not exactly the most scenic/pleasant walks; had i known we wouldn't be allowed to use the spa, I definitely would've booked somewhere more centrally located.
