Franceshina is by and away the most popular dish at this local restaurant. Oddly, the sign hanging over the front door said "snack food", but the courses served were anything but snack size. The sandwiches, rice bowl, and plate of fries were HUGE. We were shocked at how much food came out, and almost felt bad for taking half of it to go. If you find yourself in Vila Real and want the Franceshina the locals praise as the BEST around, go no further than Cardoso!

Great francesinha, best one I had in Portugal so far. Delicious sauce, and they come to your table for refills. The place is very busy, reserve in advance or be prepared to wait a bit before being seated. Friendly service, prices are a bit more expensive that outside vila real but still cheap.

On busy days the service is terrible. Food and francesinha very good but be prepared to suffer a poor service.

Known because it serves the best Francesinha (local dish). Very simple, scary at entrance with a narrow corridor with the balconi full of drinkers, but there is a underground environment with more space (besides claustrophobic) and more tables.

Don't be turned off by the small restaurant, best Francesinha in the country! Friendly and fun staff, with an atmosphere of a family home.

20 minutes waiting for potatos and desert. The workers were in a really bad mood. The installations are claustrophobic and the food is all exposed to the air in the balcony. Don't recommend at all.
