They changed their location but the menu is basically the same! Amazing as always! The francesinhas are definetly a must but the pizzas and pastas are also very good! They have vegan friendly dishes as well. And I must say I really loved the new place! Great decor and ambiance!

The atmosphere inside is quite loud at night, not for fine dining. Pizza tasted good however can't say the same to the popular dish with meat with egg and ham bathing in sauce.

The restaurant definitely corresponds the expectations in a good way: quick service, cosy and modern inside, and the taste was also good. I absolutely loved that the menu has plenty vegetarian and vegan options in comparison with other places in the area. Also, the options for the drinks, especially wines, represent quite a variety. The food is delicious, but I would not recommend expecting too much, especially from pizza. In case of margherita the buffalo mozzarella is of a poor quality and they put such a small amount of it that you can't even taste it. And the tomato souse is clearly made of cheap tomatoes while the pasta itself was quite flat. Overall, I loved chill and informal atmosphere inside and such thing as an elevator for those with a stroller.

Great time at Forneria and the food was very delicious! We were septic at the beginning but at the end we were surprised! They have a lot of beers from others countries in suggestions! Love the place as well! Is it the best restaurant in town??? 🫢🤫

It's probably an unpopular opinion because Porto supposedly has the best francesinhas but these ones from La Forneria (Vila Real) are, by far, one of the best Francesinhas in Portugal in my unbiased opinion.

The best vegetarian francesinha I've ever tried. Just perfect. And the staff was so friendly and helpful with good recommendations.

the place turned up to be unexpectedly cool 1. Cosy atmosphere 2. Delish food. I tried vegan burger although I love meat, the choice didn’t disappoint 3. Belgian Ale blew us away! 4. I can’t not mention how attentive and rather quick the service was Quick tip: better reserve a table beforehand, so not to wait too long to be seated since the restaurant is quite popular

We didn't make a reservation but waited for 30 minutes before we could be seated and that might be our best decision of the holidays. Forneria has it all, kind staff, interesting and different but high quality flavor combinations and the absolute best wood flavored taste. We were impressed with the prices for the food. We had a pizza and pasta(both delicious) and an amazing warm apple crumble with black ice cream. This restaurant makes Vila Real worth visiting.

We waited for 45 mins but it was so worth it. We were here on a visit to Vila Real and we had to go back to our hotel in Guimares. Even though the wait was long the customer service and staff were excellent and so welcoming. We are from the U.S. so this was out first experience in trying out authentic Italian food and it was so worth it and an eye opener. The restaurant is so nice and vibrant with the chef preparing all the dishes in the wooden and gas oven in front of you. The experience and the ambience was amazing and the food was so light. We will miss this so much when we get back to the U.S as you don’t find such kind of food there. Thank you!

Excellent food, fantastic service. I think this is probably the best in downtown Vila Real. Their Francesinha is highly recommended. So is the Funghi pasta. (The menu is available in English and French on their official website). The sauces are amazing! Came here for dinner on reading the great reviews, they were busy and booked for the evening, no reservations available online but they were able to make room to seat us later on in the evening. The food was worth the wait!! The crew is efficient, very friendly and helpful.

Just an awesome place to hangout with friends. You have tasty oven food plus wonderful environment and stuff. But, you need to book the table with may be 2 week’s anticipation, or just take your luck with you and wait there until they have one free for you.

It was very nice that they could accommodate us, after some waiting, without reserve. The food was good. I just didn't like that the sauce of Francesinha was sweet. Would like in the future to try the pizzas and pastas. Sangria was too strong

My first francesinha ever. The place has a nice atmosphere, a calming smell of hot furnace that feeds you with nice dishes. The smoked sausage is brilliant thrill on the beef version of francesinha. Oh, and the staff is sweet :)

One of the best places to eat in Vila Real, but do not expect a traditional place. An hipster location, really. Here you can find pizzas, burgers and the typical "francesinhas".Forneria gets full five stars because of the many vegetarian and vegan choices that are still rare in the Douro Region.

A hidden pearl discovered by chance. And we were so lucky to get a table. The best Francesinha we tried! Amazing food and juice. Lovely and friendly staff. And a beautiful place.
