It has been renovated exactly a week ago and is a wonderful place to go for the perfect sight seeing of almost the whole Nova Almeida neighborhood.

The church is a remnant of the Jesuit village of Aldeia do Campo, created in 1557, after the end of the Battle of Cricaré. The Church of the Three Kings is one of the most important temples in Brazil, as it houses the oldest painting in the country: Adoration of the Three Kings. The painting was made by Belchior Paulo, using the oil painting technique applied to wooden canvas. The painting is a clear example of Mannerist art of the time and remained in the temple even after the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1760, being preserved by the population and local government. It's a national treasure. Despite having such an old painting, the temple itself was only inaugurated in 1615, after the local government ceded captaincies to the indigenous people, who with their earnings invested in the construction of a baroque temple worthy of the work.
