The Farol da Luz has been forgotten for a long time by the entities responsible for the City's heritage, with regards to the restoration of such a beautiful example, it is therefore with regret that I look at that lighthouse deteriorating more and more, waiting for those responsible to decide as quickly as possible, get to work and make it another source of scenic interest in Cidade Invicta.

The Senhora da Luz Lighthouse is a Portuguese lighthouse, now deactivated, classified as a Property of Municipal Interest (IIM), which is located in Monte da Luz, a privileged place, whose view extends from the Duero bar to Espinho, in the parish of Foz do Douro, city of Porto. The lighthouse consisted of a small hexagonal tower on top of a quadrangular tower on the west side of a two-story building, surmounted by a green lantern, now removed and replaced by a roof. It was built next to the Senhora da Luz Chapel, at the time existing in the same place. It seems safe to say that this was the first lighthouse itself to exist on the Portuguese coast

A very interesting historical site but unfortunately poorly used, with the structures in poor condition.

The building itself is beautiful and has a high historical value, however its state of abandonment is a sad reflection of the carelessness of (in)competent entities. Probably in the usual game of pushing, no one shows a desire to requalify the space and do what they should do: make access effectively public. A space could be created as an interpretive center for the Sea, the Coast, the Navy, etc. with the "icing on the cake" being the view of the lighthouse. Unfortunately, it's more likely to become another hotel or something because the city has so few ;O(

Located at the top of Monte da Luz, the lighthouse has long been deactivated. The existing quadrangular building (tower) housed a small hexagonal tower (replaced by the current roof). The building is connected to some houses that served as accommodation for the lighthouse keeper and his family, storage and workshops. An interpretation center or museum could be an interesting destination for these infrastructures.

The Portuguese Navy is very careless about this. The longer it remains abandoned, the more money it will be necessary to spend in the future when they finally decide to carry out the restoration. I discovered this today by chance, I would like to be able to go back and see the inside in the short term.

Closed to the public. In one of the highest areas of Foz do Porto, it's worth the walk up there and some views of the sea. It's a shame to be abandoned...

If it were in downtown Porto it would already be renovated but as it is in Foz Velha, nothing like that... the 5 stars go by the value and historical heritage, not by the current appearance. Once a very important landmark in the navigability of the entrance to the Douro, it is now forgotten and abandoned. It's a shame, the appeal to Turismo de Portugal and Porto City Council to carry out renovations and make this space visitable. The Portuguese are grateful.
