👍👍 Outstanding food. The quality of the fish is really high, the staff is extra friendly and helpful. The drinks are really good. Each sushi is a small work of art, beautifully made and with an explosion of flavors. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had. People often mention sushi, service, staff, quality, good, experience, Porto, restaurant, great, nice,

All superficial, no substance. This looks like a good bar on paper, but in person it is very lacking. Although, if you are familiar with midrange hotel bars, this may not surprise you. The name is weird too. Imagine naming a fancy bar "mafia" or "Sinaloa cartel". Odd. The space is clean and classy but fairly bland. It's as if a chain hotel room was made a lot larger with a backbar. Bland walls, minimalist furnishings, no character. Drinks are incredibly expensive and very poor value. The cocktail list seems interesting and unique, but unfortunately, like the decor, they are incredibly bland in reality. I wouldn't mind paying higher prices for excellent drinks, but the two we tried were just juice. The mule was overly sweet and uses low quality ginger beer. It was like paying 17€ for a soda. The sake-sochu cocktail was so watery and tasteless. It may as well just be 18€ flavoured water. Service was excellent, from the hostess to the bartenders, but that was the only positive.

The food was amazing. I have enjoyed sushi from around the world and this was a top experience. The unagi roll with foie gras was the best and most creative I had ever tasted. Cocktails were impressive and the service was impeccable. A bit on the high end of price, but worth it.

Everything is stupidly expensive. 2 pieces of sushi for €14-€20 . Yes it has some expensive ingredients but they should have a more balanced menu with some normally priced and some luxury items. Can't justify it when there's full unlimited sushi buffet for €22 in Porto

I'm waiting my food since 1h45... I'm hungry please .... Got the plate 1h48 after the order. I was so hungry I haven't enjoy the plate with my wine ... seriously find another waiters: -he will says : -It's not my fault I cannot remind your order -he will not ask you how to cook your meet -he will not ask you if they have white and red wine which one you choose... Such a shame... To finish the manager came : ask if everything fine : we say no and he's reponse is : What I can do and leave by raising shoulders...

As a former U.S. diplomat and proponent of gastrodiplomacy, I am delighted and thrilled by Monumental Cafe. Not in years have I seen such a gorgeous marriage of cuisine and decor, not to mention top-notch personal and warm service. The staff here have exceptional attention to detail, from Diogo the manager to Hugo and Alda the servers, and to Jose the sommelier. On offer are fresh dishes, thoughtfully composed salads, a wonderful chicken entree that was so delightful I had to order it twice, and a fabulous selection of desserts. I sampled two and particularly favor the ingenious basil meringue topped lemon tart - truly ethereal. Such gorgeous environs and a super hip soundtrack. You really don't want to miss this. It should be your first and last stop, if it has to be your only stop, in Porto. Tea connoisseurs take note: TWG of Singapore is on offer here. It doesn't get any better than that. Magnificent. Thank you for such a memorable journey and a fabulous experience.

This new cafe opened in December and oh boy they are shaking Porto already! We were greeted by this extremely nice lady that asked if we needed any help. She took us to a wonderful seat by the gigantic window. You enter and you have a beautiful art Deco decor inside. Gold and marble throughout at the end you'll find their feature piece, a gold fireplace with Poseidon holding the trident. The staff, all of them without any exception are nice, not overbearingly nice. But nice! They will look after you throughout the whole experience. They will ask how's your day going if you need any help. They will, then, explain the menu. The plates and cutlery are all Vista Alegre, one of my favourite brands of China. We had the lunch menu - soup with main course. The waiter brought the wine that he believe that suited the best pairing for the food. he hit the spot, we had a lovely glass of Spanish wine we had the artichoke soup and mushrooms thar was served by two waiters. The soup was poured on our plates at the same time like a precise Swiss clock (this kind of service perfection is only to be found in some of the best restaurants in the world). They collected all the plates and cutlery and replaced by new ones. The main course was salmon with chickpeas and roast pork belly with mash potatoes. All food was extremely delicious, honestly it was incredible! Diogo the Maitre D came to ask how everything was going and if we needed any help (he even suggested a few places to visit). We finished with some coffee as we had to leave. I would like to say, That I have been coming to Porto and visited pretty much every restaurant there is in the city and this one is, with no doubt, the best restaurant in the city.

I can't describe, how good it is. It's beyond what you will expect! I have been traveling a lot in Asia, been in best sushi places all over the world, in Japan as well as in Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris, etc... But this place is definitely in my top 3 world sushi place. Creativity, freshness, service, I can't say more you have to go once in your lifetime. Big up to Camila for her great service by the way!

Delicious food, the sushi was absolutely impeccable, fresh and very very well balanced. Perfect. The sashimi was absolutely delicious. The only part of the meal that could be more delicate were the desserts - too intense, too sweet. Something more delicate and refined would pair better with the rest of the meal. The staff was super nice and the environment was great - one issue, the music was a bit too loud. Still, amazing and iconic place for Japanese cuisine lovers.

This is an elegant restaurant in the center of Porto with an outstanding selection of sushi and sashimi.  The gourmet selections of sushi were the best I have had anywhere, including Japan.  It is an expensive meal, but it was an experience to have tasted such creative combinations.  The fois gras and wagyu gunkan was the highlight of the evening.  The service was also amazing and the servers make excellent recommendations.  My wine glass was never empty as the staff work as a team to provide stellar service.  This restaurant will be one of our special places and a regular treat for us. We have been to Yakuza four times now, usually with visiting family. The last visit we had a weird table, but after several attempts we were seated upstairs at a normal table. Yakuza still only uses an online menu which can be hard to read but I think we had mastered it. We love everything but especially the gunkan sushi specialities.

I’m not giving it 5 stars because the service wasn’t the best as there were some misunderstandings regarding our order and the desert + the gyozas were pretty average in comparison with the rest of the food, which was absolutely delicious and you could tell the quality of it was great. However, I must also say I find it overpriced.

After being refused entry to the Restaurant. As my husband and I, wasn’t obviously dressed accordingly. We were sat outside.! The waitering service was very professional. 5 stars for them. But the food unfortunately I expected more.!!

We were pleased with our overall experience here. Even though we had a lunch reservation, we had to wait about 10 min for our table. We got a “premium” table location with window’s view. The staff is welcoming and polite. The food is tasty and well sized portions. For my delight, there are vegan options for starters and main dishes. Of course, taking advantage of “the fork” 40% discount was a plus.

Very nice and cosy place for a drink and also for something to eat. The staff is very welcoming and pays a lot of attention to your stay. We had a couple of drinks and took some dishes. Portions were abundant, there was enough food to be shared, and all well cooked. Drinks were very good and well prepared. Very good place to spend your evening drinking and eating.

The reception service was really good and the people were really nice. The sushi is fresh and feels like an explosion of flavors in your mouth! As a sashimi fan, I had to try the combination of it only and 100% recommend it ⭐️ However, it’s a little overpriced. I recommend using The Fork app for a discount (when available) - your wallet will thank this :)

If you're looking for somewhere fancy for a drink, this is the place to go. Located at the back of the hotel lobby, this ornate bar serves a variety of tasty, if slightly pricey, cocktails. The staff were very friendly, especially Rita, who made some calls for us to book a restaurant for dinner she recommended!

All the food was what you expect of a Japanese restaurant but the dessert was off. We got this Kit Kat dessert which was essentially pudding with Kit Kat on top. Also their ice cream selections were really weird even the staff recommended we avoid them. The atmosphere is not really worth mentioning, it’s fairly basic. The service was good though. Fairly fast for Portugal standards.

I booked this place for my husbands 40th birthday, bringing a toddler and an 8-week old baby for dinner. I was nervous to bring the children but the staff were so accommodating and kind. The service was beyond expectation. Barbara was amazing and so lovely - always checked to see if we were okay and made my very shy son smile. She even went out of her way to gift him a teddy (which he now takes to bed every night!). The food was top notch. Porto is filled with many great restaurants, but we feel the service, quality of food and attention to detail was exceptional and we will never forget. Thank you for an amazing experience.

Great quality sushi, though a little more meat/non-pesc than expected, e.g. eel and foie gras. Regardless, it wasn't difficult to find alluring options. The new style, nigiris and gunkans were lovely but the rolls and fried squid could be skipped. Drinks were good and service by Marcela was very pleasant and mostly expedient on a busy Saturday night. We were sat at what I think is the worst table in the venue, so one couldn't partake in the ambience much. There was a DJ playing some good mixes but it felt an odd choice for a dining experience.

Great place with awesome staff. The food was very good but for me it should’ve been a little bit better since we are talking about the most expensive sushi spot in town. Overall, I guess it’s a experience everyone should try, more for the experience part itself than the food (once again, don’t get me wrong, it was good, but not as good as I was expecting)

Highly recommended, specially if you are willing to have good tasting experience. Located in a 5 star hotel, this place is beautiful and worth a visit just to see it. Staff is friendly and welcoming. There is an express menu for 16 euros on weekdays, with two starters plus three main courses and a lot of a deserts to choose (one of each). There is an a la cart menu as well. Price/quality wise it's good, specially given its location.

Such a beautiful experience. The food was so pretty to look at and the taste was great too. From the appetizers to the maki rolls and dessert. The type of food I would expect from international restaurants.. well done chef Olivier on this restaurant. Staff were very friendly I would like to thank Camila who took care of us and my family needs. The lady who checks the reservations and takes you to your table needs a bit of a smile and better attitude though.

Great sushi and our server, Daniel, was amazingly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? The simple answer is that this Yakuza is no where close to the sister restaurant in Lisbon!! Compared to Lisbon, this felt like a very average Japanese restaurant.

We came across Monumental Cafe on our first night in Porto after walking around looking for a dinner spot, and were so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the service, the atmosphere and the overall warm & welcome feeling the staff gave us. Diego in particular did as much as he could to accommodate and take care of us (including a nice little port tasting at the end of our final visit), and we appreciated it very much. Will be back on our next visit to Porto. Greetings from Sydney!

One of the best sushi experiences we have ever had. Not only is the pricing affordable, the items were extremely high quality. The service was great and the ambiance was perfect. It was truly a great experience in Porto. If you love sushi, this place is a must. My husband and I shared the Yakuza sushi combo (16 un. sushi + 16 sashimi) - every single piece was amazing. When they bring out the meal they do this really cool dry ice experience. We enjoyed it so much we ordered more of the tuna belly and salmon. We ordered the 'Sakerinhas Yakuza' and 'Mojito Yakuza' - both were delicious!
