Have seen many castle ruins in the past and Viljandi castle is really one of a kind, stretching over three adjacent hilltops. It's a pity though that there is not much left of the castle ruins, so you'd best go about with a layout of the castle in your hand, to see where everything was. From here you can enjoy the view over Viljandi lake and stroll about the park and cross the long hanging bridges.

Construction of the castle started in 1224. During Polish-Swedish wars in the early 17th century castle was destroyed. Currently its a recreation area with excellent view's to Viljandi lake.

Has a wonderful view over lake Viljandi, despite what the season is. A great location to explore a little bit of history behind the town, as well as to sit down and have a picnic and a chat. Lots of local young people's favorite place to gather.

Great place to visit if you are in Viljandi. The place gives you a sense of tranquility. You can hike uphill through a set of winding trails.
