So actually I have to write 2 reviews (5* & 1*) #1 archelogical park: I really liked and it has a very nice collection of olmec sculptures which is a lot more hard to find than maya, actects, zapothec,... anywhere (cause its old: ~1500-500 before Christi), also the presentation between the jungle on platforms I really liked, better than in most museums! Also that its the cute Coaties running around the sculptures freely I really liked. This part was defenitly worth visiting Villahermosa which otherwise I did not like so much! BUT now #2 THE ZOO: I dont like, especially putting poor animals who usually run a lot like leopards, jaguars and foxes into tiny boxes is like hurting these animals, u see how poor they are in the videos! So yes archelogical park 5stars, zoo 1star = 3stars!

I was visiting from the US and my friends wanted to take me here. It’s beautiful, for sure. I really like that it has the combination of being a museum AND a zoo! Mostly common zoo animals, but it’s still neat. I really enjoyed the bird area that you can walk into. The big head statues are awesome. The ONLY downfall is the amount of mosquitoes is torturous! Be prepared for that, bring plenty of bug spray/repellent because you will for sure be eaten alive by mosquitoes if not. We had bug spray and were still getting attacked haha.

Pretty interesting museum. A must if you're in Villahermosa ,I believe it was 100 pesos. Worth it . Wear mosquito repellent. Do not touch the animals running around . If you are a fan of ruins and unanswered questions ,must visit.

Nice experience but the animal enclosures were not very well kept. My animal lover kids were very concerned. We were not aware of the zoo and we were just fine without the zoo part. Very hot and humid but fun to see the archeological monuments.

A beautiful place if you love nature and history. I recommend you to pay for a guide. It's not expensive and it will be very useful and add a plus for your trip there. Use repellent like off! cause there's a lot of mosquitos. You can find here the olmeca head so prepare for some good photos 💜👌 a must to visit if you are in Villahermosa.

I loved the arquelogic site, not much the zoo. Without the zoo it would be alright already a nice place worth the visit

Very interesting combination of zoo and outdoor museum. Most of the museum collection is carved stone artwork from an archaeological site at La Venta, and date from around 700 B.C. +/- a few centuries. The stones are enormous. The grounds are huge and covered with a wide assortment of trees and plants. The zoo is not extensive but the animals appeared to be well cared for.

Amazing little place. The enclosures are a bit small and lacking water. The park ealk with all the Olmec stones was amazing! A nice stroll.

Super excellent little history museum. As others have mentioned, skip the zoo. :( if you go up to the left you can just do the archeology part, the Olmec heads are of course very famous!

It’s open until 3pm, closed on Sunday. I found it a bit of a depressing place. Loads of concrete. An artificial zoo & an archeological park. Deprived caged animals are walking in circles. I found the artefacts equally depressing removed from their environment and put on a concrete pulpit.

This actually a zoo and an archaeological sculpture park. The zoo isn't that good but the sculpture park is outstanding. The sculptures (mostly colossal heads) are from La Venta and there are interpretive signs describing their background. Very educational. The signs are bilingual and I saw one English language tour group (from a company outside the park I think.)

Amazing park/museum/zoo. Highlighting the bird house which is a gigantic geodesic dome you can go inside interacting with the colorful species directly. The feline species seem very lonely and sad. The reptile section is ok. Nice stroll to see the Olmec statues and artifacts. Free roaming animals. Crocodiles.

A must do while you’re in Villa! There are massive Olmec stones with carvings. The museum was super informative, but also very quick to explore! It took about an hour and 20 mins to explore and read everything. There is also a mini zoo with all kinds of animals! Only 53 pesos for foreigners.

This place is magical. There's an energy around the artifacts that I felt. Loved the zoo. There's an aviary to walk in. The peacocks let every animal know you came in. A great experience

It has been many years ago (10 years to be exact) when I visited this gem of a tourist attraction. Travel to Villahermosa in and out out was a bit challenging but hey it’s MEXICO. This place has a great zoo but more importantly contains some of the most important archaeological discoveries of all the Americas. Toltec artifacts that are as close to you as anything you have ever been close too and the tour is self guided leaving you as much time as you wish to relish the some twenty artifacts on display. An absolute hidden gem of the republic.

Went to see the famous Olmec heads, was extremely underwhelmed by the exhibits, and the zoo portion was pretty bad. Only the free roaming Coatis seemed to be happy. Only came to Villahermosa to visit this park, it's not worth it, or the town in general. Awful town with a awful climate; my advice would be to avoid this place altogether and go see some better stone heads/relics in a museum elsewhere.

Such an impressive museum...a beautiful 60 to 90 min walk...very informative I didnt know these people existed...local history which isn't presented on the global scale...so fascinating A scripture of a Belize warrior/ runner??? Where did these come from...unfortunately there weren't any English guides the day we were there...

We had a knowledgeable guide, which made all the difference. Without the guide, it would be just another park.

I didn't have time to enjoy the whole park, but visited the archeological statues. I thought they were well preserved with great explanations. I recommend coming early or later in the day to beat the heat. If that's not possible, the shade is sufficient, but note that the bugs are plenty! :)

DO NOT GO IN THAT PARK ! i went there because of the famous statues but I wasn’t aware that there will be animals. It was a HORRIFYING experience… Animal’s spaces are mostly made of concrete or dry dirt, without grass and the LACK OF (CLEAN) WATER is unbelievable. Every animals seem really SAD/depressed and most of them are ALONE in their space. I mean I saw a jaguar eating grass…. I highly regret going there. I don’t know where their money goes, there are many ABANDONED infrastructure. I didn’t see anyone around animals, do they even have qualified people taking care of them ?????? For god sake please do not go in that park, seeing few statues is not worth seeing a bunch of depressed and bad treated animals….
