I can handle old fashioned / vintage style, but I can't handle filthy cheap hotels charging for premium quality. As per pictures, bathtub was incredibly dirty.. besides, the room was ice cold and when I called reception around 7PM to understand why the radiators were not heating up, and I was told that the heaters are automatically turned on at 11PM, which was far ahead.. they provided extra duvets, but still... you don't want to be cold when on vacations during winter. The 2 stars are due to staff friendliness, and that's it.

Lovely french-style hotel in the very heart of Montreux. We got a spacious room with the balcony, there was a lovely lake view. There was also an option to have a breakfast for 15 CHF/person. We left quite early in the morning and it we used this opportunity. The breakfast is served from 6 am. It was raining and the staff provided us with an umbrella. We also got Montreux Riviera Cards that entitled us to free transport and 50% off on main attractions.

It is a vintage well-located hotel that needs major refurbishing but the staff is exceptionally kind, check-in easy, the room clean with a balcony & chairs, small bathroom But fine, elevators, and good varied breakfast. It is not walking distance from the train station but just 4 bus stops away. It is one block off the lake so it’s perfect if you just have one day. You can tell that it is an old hotel that once was elegant & historic. Now it’s clean, well located, nice staff, accessible to the train station & lake & a very reasonable price. I’d book it again. No A/C but the nights cool down. I was there early October. Maybe I would not recommend it for a summer stay.

It is sad that what was obviously one of the dominant luxury hotels has descended to little ore than a backpackers hostel. No A/C and bare rooms which have ben canabalised and reduced to a shell. While the location is excellent, we would not go back there.

We came to Montreux on the lake Geneva Shoreline to see the gambling house and the Grand Hotel as described in the song smoke on the water. We were pleasantly surprised to find so much more. The J5 is conveniently situated for our needs. The patio is straight up the hill from the casino. Although the hotel 🏨 is old it was clean and had a modern bathroom and shower 🚿. The staff was very friendly and I would definitely recommend to stay again.

Room was very basic, the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom was disgusting with black mould all around the shower, do didn't use.

Good location. However, I was disappointed that the staff forgot to offer the Montreux Riviera card when I checked in. I found out on the day that I checked out that the staff should have offered me a card to get free public transportation and a 50 % discount on tourist attractions in Montreux. It's so annoying even though he apologized to me.

Hotel is in great part of town every shop, restaurant, casino in walking distance, the view from our room is great mountains, lake. Hotel is very old and charming and warm considering there's no double glazing, it gets very noisy at night, I would of liked to be able to make a cup of tea in the room, But they were fantastic on helping us refund a mistake I made when double booked the room Hopefully will book again next year 2024

Hotel room clean and comfy. The location is great, close to tge railway station, bars and Lake Geneva. Didn't eat at the hotel but did use the bar. It was a great experience, the G&T's looked good and tasted good. Thanks

Upon entering the hotel, you would be greeted with red carpeted stairs going up to the reception and lobby area. The receptionist was very friendly and offered us the montreux riviera card which gives us discounted access to the different museums, free use transportation. The room was very spacious and has a very beautiful view of the casino, lake and the mountains. It has a very beautiful chandelier. On the wall is a poster of the Montreux jazz festival. The television has a radio option and one of the stations is Swiss Jazz which plays jazz music 24/7. Being a jazzhead, this is a plus for me. The bathroom was clean and the shower area was very spacious. The breakfast has a lot of options to choose from. The place is just a minute away from the bus station and very near the casino and different shops. I highly recommend this hotel when you visit Montreux.

Lovely old-fashioned building in the centre with transport directly on hand. Buses and trains free within mobilis zone. Value for money accommodation but no catering. Polite and friendly staff.

When my husband and I checked in, the room allocated for us was supposed to be non-smoking. Upon entering the room, I was nearly choked by the smelly, smoky room but quite instantly, the evening shift guy at the reception immediately changed our room without any further question. For that, I truly appreciate his kind understanding and gesture because as an asthmatic patient, I cannot withstand cigarette smell that much. I am so sorry that I didn't get his name, but I can see how proactive he was in his job. I hope he sees this review to know that I thank him from the bottom of my heart. The room that was newly arranged for us has a wider bathroom. I find the bathroom very clean. The room can get cold from evening onwards, and when I was there in mid-march, it was still cold, but I have additional clothes with me. So, it was fine. I wish the bathroom has more place for me to hang my clothes because I prefer to change in the bathroom since the room can get very cold at 6-7am. Yes, I shower at that time every morning.

We are traveling the Grand Tour of Switzerland by train and stayed two nights at this hotel. We had two rooms. These were basic but clean and with view on the lake. Our rooms did not have AC and luckily the hot days were over by the time we got there. The location is good across the Casino and in walking distance to the trains station and the lake. The breakfast was nice with a good variety. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience. Hopefully they will be able to bring back the old glory of this vintage hotel from the 1800's. It has a lot of charm but needs a bit of TLC.

Very friendly staff and hotel is very close to lake Geneva and chillon castle. Just two stops away from main station . Will book this hotel again .

It wasn't even summer and the rooms were already hot. The location doesn't contribute to cooling down by opening the windows, either. Still it's Montreux. Therefore it's okay...

The bathtub was uncomfortable I tripped that I never knew this would happen. Living room was also the worst because a lot of insects surrounding each other. I wish they renew the whole hotel

Rather run down and in need of modernisation and general repair. The shower/ bathrooms have lots of black mold, worn out broken/rusted fittings. Breakfast is basic but sufficient, the 2 staff try their best. The rooms need updating, windows / doors don't seal allowing cold outside air inside. Old carpet, creaking floor, can hear movement in other rooms etc. Website states minibar in all rooms- false, no minibar and info stating minibar available at reception. The original central elevator is coated in thick dust, not cleaned for years. Location is good , on main road but fairly quiet. Parking is limited but public parking is in the area between 30-50 chf for 24hrs.

Located next to the bus stop, the location is very good , . rooms are spacious, air conditioning not available in all rooms, so check before booking... Noise insulation in rooms should be improved,,
