Paneriai Memorial

Historical landmark

šŸ‘šŸ‘ This is an historical landmark and a half. Large complex in the woods outside of Vilnius. Moving and necessary. Took a taxi there and bus back - cross over the railway bridge when walking back and the return bus stop is there.

Why is this important place in European history not presented and Promoter properly. Still, Soviet era memorial policies prevail. In urgent need of remodelling.

Really recommend for people who are interested in WW2 or Holocaust or just to remember what happened in these time. Also, it is better to go there when there is a guide (9AM to 5PM working days and 9AM to 16AM Sunday) as he knows a lot and has good skills of storytelling also very helpful and just the right guide for the job. P.s. he is not working on winter season but it is possible to arrange it via social media channels.

Very sentiment place. especially the circule who where killed a lot of Jewish āœ”ļø. U can feel that different between the grasse inside the circle and outside the circle. It's amazing to feel it. The grass inside the circle is more moisturiser due to the blood . Uman body was fertilising the grass. So sad

It was very cold and snowy so didn't spend us much time here as I would have liked. A very beautiful and tranquil spot for a memorial

Worth a visit if only to remind yourself of the horrors of WWII. A serene place in winter!

The central monument is very impressive, it dominates the area of ā€‹ā€‹the murder pits of the ninth port. The monument, the displays in the Fort and the very act of standing in front of what were the murder pits where 20,000 people were murdered, of which 15,000 were Jews - shocking! This is a must visit site and it shows what a murderous low humans can reach under a regime led by a totalitarian ruler, in this case also a madman.

Long-standing memorials to the Holocaust victims killed in this place. There is a short exhibit in the closed museum building thatā€™s visible through the gate from the outside. Make sure to read this first before walking around, as it provides the necessary context. There are two big loop paths to walk to see all the memorials.

Powerful and somber. It is very understated. Glad the Roma finally were acknowledged.

Depressing place and a whole district as such. Only one road leads to there by car - you have isolated feeling going here. Lots of stones in memory of Jews.

šŸ‘šŸ‘ Great tour in Lithuanian with guide Eva! She was extremely knowledgeable, had great sense of humor and made two hours seem like 15 minutes. I seriously wanted the tour to go on. I have been recommending this tour and this particular guide to all my friends in Vilnius. Best ā‚¬20 euros spent.

šŸ‘šŸ‘ Good place for a walk, not too big in itself but leads to other parks. You can see the palace, panoramic view of the city, some nice installations and a water mill where a restaurant is. There is a hidden tunnel under the road to the riverside. There are smaller paths that will lead you to additiona...
