In
September
2023,
my
73-year-old
mother
went
to
the
ophthalmologist
Alejandro
Vázquez
De
Kartzow
at
the
Viña
del
Mar
office.
He
prescribed
multifocal
lenses
for
her.
We
had
the
lenses
made
at
the
optician,
which
did
not
come
cheap,
since
the
glasses
alone
cost
practically
400,000
pesos.
The
glasses
did
not
fit
my
mother
well,
because
the
doctor
prescribed
the
glasses
incorrectly,
she
did
not
read
well
up
close,
at
the
optician
they
gave
her
the
history
of
the
glasses
that
she
had
had
made
and
there
we
were
able
to
compare
the
current
prescription
with
the
last
prescription
of
the
year
2019.
Dr.
Alejandro
marked
0.75
less
in
the
addition
of
his
right
eye.
In
2019
it
had
3.0
and
in
2023
2.25.
When
he
went
to
see
him
the
second
time,
my
mother
brought
him
the
history
and
he
stuck
to
his
diagnosis,
simply
telling
her
that
he
couldn't
see
well
because
he
had
to
read
with
more
light.
After
5
months
he
had
to
go
back
to
the
eye
doctor
who
prescribed
the
correct
lenses,
increasing
him
1
degree
for
the
near
lenses
and
again
he
had
to
earn
400,000
pesos
because
of
a
doctor
who
did
not
want
to
admit
his
mistake.
I
find
this
type
of
error
unacceptable,
the
arrogance
of
this
doctor
who
had
the
audacity
to
tell
my
mother
that
the
reason
she
was
not
reading
well
was
because
she
lacked
light
and
not
because
he
made
a
mistake.
Who
reimburses
my
mother
for
the
387,000
pesos
for
her
glasses?
and
not
only
that,
but
the
bitterness
and
bad
times
of
having
to
go
see
him
again,
plus
on
top
of
that
he
made
her
wait
last
to
attend
to
her
and
to
give
him
a
laughable
answer.
