My friend and I visited the Mille Lacs Indian Museum on a Friday in June. It is part of the larger Minnesota History Museum system. The building is beautiful, the grounds awesome and still providing information about the area. There are paved paths for walking between buildings. There were several pick nic tables for resting in the shade. The fee for admission is small and doable. The staff greets you and gives you info about the building and the programs they offer. There is a guided tour of a seasonal display of Native Americans that you can take, and so much info as you walk through the building. Wonderful. The Trading Post is just down the walk, and worth your time to visit. So much history and info provided. The kids will love it, I know we did. On site parking and ♿accessible. Go!!!!

Spent part of my day while in Mille Lacs in the museum. I learned so much and enjoyed the guide (a member from the band) in the Four Seasons room. Thankful for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe for sharing their history and culture with those not from here. ❤️

A lovely museum, the Four Seasons exhibit is not to be missed. I especially liked the jingle dresses.

Amazing. The volunteer for the Four Seasons room was amazing, and did an amazing job on answering questions! I learned a lot of new things, like how the Ojibwe got deer hides. The Four Seasons room has an incredible diagram and sculpture of how Native Americans lived during the seasons. I recommend going to this museum if you're visiting this area!

Taught me lots of things, the best part of it was the four seasons room! The statues looks great and I'm glad I got to experience it! They also have a nice store beside it that has lots of cool stuff!

Excellent museum and view into history and life of the lake's indigenous people. Our guide in the four seasons diorama was geat.

This was a very enjoyable educational experience. The four seasons exhibit was the most impressive part. The staff was very informative and knowledgeable. It is so nice to learn about all the different cultures in the world, but we have so many right here close to home. I love learning about these cultures because so much of our history books/education has been written by the conquerors that our impressions of others are jaded.

This place is for sure a place to stop in and check out the Native American history as well as many crafts and clothing sales. Not to mention puzzles for all ages, beading crafts as well as jewelry had mad by many of the natives. You want to learn more the Museum is right next door. Fun for the whole family.

The Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post are a great way to familiarize yourself with the history and traditions of the Mille Lacs people. The trading post hosts an impressive spread of arts and crafts made by the local people. As someone who has embarked on artistic endeavors, the price is reflected by the craftsmanship and time invested. The establishment is only open during specific days of the week, but if you pass by on the way further north and haven't been there before, I would recommend stopping in and learning about history, the Earth, and its people.

The museum here is amazing. It is full of wonderful artifacts and interesting information. The tour of the Four Seasons room is fantastic. It was simultaneously entertaining and informative which is the best way to present information in my opinion. The Trading Post also has some interesting artifacts and has really cool stuff for purchase. This is definitely a place that you should check out!

Such a beautiful and educational experience. I brought a group of students so didn't get to observe and experience everything but there is so much to explore and learn. The Four Seasons Room is absolutely breathtaking. The staff were patient and kind. I hope to be back with friends and family soon!

Pretty good museum. Our family enjoyed our time here. The exhibits seem to be from the early 2000s and older, so it could use some updating.

Lovely Museum with plenty of pictures and information. Beautiful examples of clothing and objects that are made by the local community. The "4 Seasons Room" is worth waiting around for. The guides are very knowledgeable and welcome questions.

Well worth the price to learn about the other side of the Indigenous People vs the invading people. To be sure after I left I was more convinced than ever settlers were caught in the middle . They probably did not know the consessions that were made by the people that were there first. They also did not know that the US government did not live up to their word. It was a tragedy all around. Despite it all the museum shows the resilience and harmony with nature. I am not sure I could have been so. Gracious.

"Four season room" contains a fascinating, very realistic diorama; the guid (an Indian gentleman who came during his lunch break at nearby work to volunteer) was "contagious" with his deep respect of the native culture, which we, the outsiders, could only take a brief glance at. The diorama can only be seen with a guide, so be sure to inquire about the time (was 12:30 in our case.)

We were camping nearby and took advantage of a rainy day to visit the museum. We had kids from age 8 up to adults in their 60's. We only gave ourselves a couple hours and wish we would've planned more time here. We could easily have spent the better part of a day here! Everyone had a good time! Interactive activities for the kids to do, lots of great information laid out in a way that was fun and easy to walk through. The 4 season exhibit, which is only open at certain times of the day is a must! We will be back next camping season and plan for at least half a day to go through everything.

The four seasons room was great. The gentleman who spoke was very engaging and made the history educational and informative. The life like representation of the Indian way of life was wonderful to see first hand. Well worth the entry fee.

A surprisingly great little museum to visit! A great spot to rest a bit and stretch your legs going to or from the northland from the Cities or other points south. The trading post museum and trading post itself are free and are very interesting. There is a fee to enter the Indian museum itself, but it's well worth the cost of admission. This is one of many sites operated by the Minnesota Historical Society and if you are a member, there is no cost of admission.

👍 Hard to believe this was the sand wash we partied at back in the 80’s by the way nature has taken over. However being manmade it’s prone to flooding having no streams/rivers to regulate the lakes water levels. The dock and benches are under water. Still a good place to walk, fish or disc golf.
