The animals in the zoo were kept in inhumane condition. The fact that you will get tired at the end of exploring the entire zoo without getting a chance to see most of the animals, but you will have no option because the cycle provided by the zoo authorities is very costly. The only good part was the Butterfly Garden as it was properly maintained. Otherwise most of the animals appeared to be depressed and suffering from heat. There is no place inside the zoo where you can stop by to have some snacks or water....there is just a small shop near the entrance. The absence of any local guide is what makes the exploring part even more difficult. The ticket facility also just accepts cash and the staff there is outright rude. There is so much scope for improvement. If only the animals very taken good care of this place would have been one of the best ones to visit in Vizag.

Good place to spend time with your family. You can take your car inside the zoo. Cafe is available within the premises. I suggest you carry your water bottle. The aquarium can be maintained in a better state.

Great place. The zoo is quite okay, I mean, it's not so big but having lots of variety of deers. Birds collection is also good. Tiger and lion are limited. One thing you must do is book a battery-operated vehicle so that your journey should be hassle free. Limited animals are like giraffe, zebra, beers, gorilla, etc..

Beautiful place, most of the animals looked ok and not depressed. Area is around 4km, cars are allowed at 500 rupees. Drinking water is available, washrooms were clean. Worth a visit, some of the exotic birds are free to fly, one deer was also roaming around.

Recently visited the zoo. Though The ecology is maintained, most of the cages remain empty The zoo is ravaged by contractors who rule inside. They don't have any ID cards and behave like goons.Very poor maintenance. In the jungle safari, they dominate. Allowing more persons to sit in vehicle than normal. Greedy and lack of courtesy.

The closest you can get to the wilderness in the city. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Vizag. Learn about the zoo Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is located amidst Seethakonda Reserve Forest covering an area of 625 acres in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. The construction for this ex-situ facility started in the very year 1972 when Wildlife Protection Act of this country came into existence and it was opened to public on 19th May, 1977. It is surrounded by beautiful and scenic hills of Eastern Ghats on three sides and Bay of Bengal on the fourth side. Being a Large category Zoo recognized by the Central Zoo Authority it houses 843 number of animals like mammals, carnivores, lesser carnivores, canids, ungulates, reptiles, birds and butterflies belonging to 123 species in a natural ambiance. This place is also a home to many free ranging animals and birds owing to its existence in a forest area close to Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary. Zoo is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 And Monday is holiday

I recently had an amazing time at this zoo! It was an absolute delight to explore this place and get up close to some incredible animals. The variety of species they have is truly impressive, from white tigers to adorable deer hoping around. The habitats are designed so well that you feel like you're in the heart of the wilderness. I loved learning about the conservation efforts they support and how they educate visitors about endangered species. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable. A must-visit spot for families and wildlife enthusiasts! I highly recommend it! 🦁🦒🐒🌿🐾

Vizag zoo is a nice place to visit with family. It's amazing specially for the kids. It's an open zoo. It takes too much time to full cover. You can take a toto car to cover the zoo by the ride. But, you have to do a proper negotiation for the price of the car. The entry fees of the zoo is 70 rupees for one person. Camera will be allowed. Camera(1) charge is 50 rupees. There are many separate parts for many kinds of animals . You have to follow the road mark of the zoo. It'll help you to visit the zoo properly.

Wonderful wild life experience and animal viewing experience at the heart of the city. The Vizag zoo park is an amazing place for tourists to visit in vizag. You can see many wild animals, birds, and reptiles. Well detailed descriptions about each animal and maps are well maintained. Tickets are Rs. 70 for one adult. However, mobile networks don't do well due to the mountain region. And for tickets we had to pay only in cash.

I have visited nearly after 15 years with my 5 yrs old kid... I have visited many zoo parks like nainital, Tata zoo etc.... But vizag zoo is really awesome, well maintained with all amenities... Washrooms are very clean.. coming to animals, animals are looking good... I have missed seeing bengal tiger and lion... My child enjoyed a lot in the zoo park, she explored different types of fishes mainly the alligator fish., It is really scarious, and different monkeys, pheasants and when she seen porcupine she got anxious because she taughted porcupine story by her teacher recently... Really best place for roaming kids.. And there is electric vehicle facility also for those who can't walk much and if u had a car, you can roam inside the zoo with ur car also, but they charge 500rs per car..

Everyone loves to visit the zoo. Kids love to see the animals they have seen only in picture books and the adults accompanying the kids love to see the look of immense delight on the faces of these kids. One such zoological park that has everything to make it one of the fun places to visit in Vizag is the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park.

One of the most gorgeous zoos located right between two hills. The environment never lets you feel that you are in a man made sanctuary. The best was the snake section where they kept those snakes in their natural habitat. It is a must watch if you visit Visakhapatnam.

Lush green and filled with animals . Giraffe zebra white tiger, lion monkeys and you can also spot few deers in open public spaces if you get lucky. You can hire a battery vehicle or just go by walk. Considering the weather you get dehydrated due to walk so take food and water . enjoy the vizag zoo.

Nice place for a day out with family, keeping aside all regular stuff just to be with nature. Spending a day walking past all animals birds really made the day special for us. Foods and drinks are available inside. To visit the entire place by taking a walk takes 4 hrs approximately. But worth visiting.

Zoo is large and spread over vast area. If going in on foot then it will take more than 3-4 hours. Even though it is vast - it is neat and well maintained. Other good points about zoo is that 1- provide golf cart ride for full tour. 2- many sitting areas 3- each animal has enough space 4- you can take your own vehicle by pay fees 5- wide variety of animals like giraffe, emu, ostrich Only point which I think can make it better is : Number of animals for each type can be increased. Like there was only one giraffe. Having more than one will make zoo more of fun to watch as they will be active. Other than that, it was good to go on leisure trip and enjoy as picnic. It's scenic and lots of trees makes it cool.

Excellent location. They tried to maintain natural habitat for the animals. Please hire a car & enter into the Zoo, otherwise it's tough to cover the entire Zoo on foot.

  • 5/5 Meena B. 7 months ago on Google
The zoo is reasonably done up..not comparable to the one in Mysore but not bad as young children are thrilled looking at animals anyway! The place has a good collection of animals and worth a visit if accompanied by children below 10-12.. One can drive through the zoo in your own vehicle so that makes it very convenient.

Visakhapatnam's largest zoo park, here you will find all kinds of animals, whether it is vegetarian or non-vegetarian, here you can take a car inside and even if you have your own car, you can take your own car by paying ₹ 500 extra. You can go, if you take an electrical car from inside, then what happened to it, you will have to pay ₹ 400, online booking is also done, here you will get the ticket at a very low price.

Don't visit in the summer season . Most of the animals are not in the zoo . The funny thing is they are exhibiting 5 monkeys in different cages, which we can see in our india regularly. Try to carry ur own water bottles bcoz drinks costs were higher in the zoo .

Very good place to spend half a day with kids or friends. The park has fairly decent variety of animals and by walk start to end is 4Km. There’s also options by your car or electric car by zoo management.

This is a huge zoo, one that allows and honestly. Requires you to drive a car / vehicle to see. Entry is slightly costly, with adult ticket around 50 and car 500 rupees, but i feel it is totally worth it. Animals seems to be well fed and cared, most of the zoo is clean and staff are friendly and helpful as well.
