Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple

Hindu temple

👍👍 Went to the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple on the hill of Port Area. It is 150 years old. Atmosphere is serene. Had a good darshan. Views from the temple are great. Normally we are accustomed to seeing big Murthi's of Venkateswara Swamy. But here, the murthi is smaller. People often mention temple, Venkateswara, hill, view, Lord, port, Visakhapatnam,

At a distance of 5 Kms from Vizag Railway Station, Sri Venkateswara Swamy Konda on the south of the line of three hills is famous for a temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. It is believed to have been built by a European Captain Blackmoor in 1866, according to the Telugu inscriptions. This temple has a small steeply pyramidal entrance gopura. The port channel, the entrance of the inner harbor for ships and liners can be seen from here. You will find one hill divided into two with an approach road and a railway track. Takes 200 steps to climb and have darshan of Lord Venkateswara of my lovely Vizag. Must to view from temple the Sagar hill and canal connecting shipyard to Bay of Bengal. Having good local bus connectivity and one can take cab or auto from any where in city.

Visited this temple with family. Noticed it’s famous temple in Vizag. It’s located on a small hill. You have to take steps to reach the temple. Felt happy to see the beautiful temple and surroundings.

A picturesque temple located on small hill, near the harbour of Visakhapatnam. One should climb 108 steps to reach the abode & have a blissful darshan. We will pause at Ganesh Temple in the entrance, in middle we have Hanuman Temple & on top we have Sri Venkateswara Swamy & Sri. Padmavati Amma idols showering their positive vibrations to the town & port. Awesome views of the Vizag's natural harbour will makes us to turn our necks. Please make your time to visit to this temple in enroute you can see Vizag's heritage buildings like St. Aloysius Anglo-Indian school, Town Hall & Fishing Harbour.

Well maintained Hindu Temple for Lord Venkateswara. It is built over hillock, near Visakhapatnam harbour. Priests did a good job in performing rituals.

Lord venkateswara swamy temple, situated at Visakhapatnam port trust, with sea facing, temple is around 200years old. Very powerful, I was personal blessed at very critical time. For many months I didn't have a own vehicle, after worshipping lord venkateswara here, a miracle took place in one week, my bank offered me personal lone for an amount of Rs 83250/- and issued a cheque for the above said amount in just 2days, then I went to a bike showroom to enquire about a new vehicle, the showroom represntive said that the cost of new vehicle on road price is Rs 83250/-. I was surprised that how can the cheque amount and vehicle cost be the same, then i realised that it is lord sri venkateswara swamy miracle, Later I purchased the vehicle with that cheque amount. It is really a miracle. Even today I am using the same bike. This took place in 2012.

According to legend, the idol of this temple surfaced from the depths of the sea. This temple holds a profound significance among the devotees in Vizag, who firmly believe that visiting and offering prayers there can fulfill their deepest desires. However, reaching the temple requires climbing a set of stairs, as is the case with many other temples. This can pose a challenge for elderly and disabled individuals, yet they manage to ascend slowly, determined to receive the divine blessings at the top. Many often offer their hair after their wishes are fulfilled.

The over all experiance and lord's darshan was a superb experiance. One thing which i didn't like and TTD needs to look into is about the importance & treatment they give to VIPs. Today when we visited at about 1930 hrs, rush was not much. One VIP family was given unusual importance and treatment. The whole family and their guests were given "Antharalaya" darshanam,Theerthsm, Shathari and Veda aashirvachanam there only. Apart from "Prasadam" to all, they were taken to TTD office and again given "Prasadam" to consume there in the office. The common pilgrims were not permitted into "Antharalayam", not given Theertham,Shathari, prasadam. In lord's view all are equal. TTD can give VIP treatment but should not neglect common pilgrims. Minimum is Theertham one expects in a temple. TTD may pl look into this aspect.

Google map location is incorrect. Real location is :-Port Area, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh 530001. Please ask Visakhapatnam Port Trust Main gate. Temple is situated next to it.

Revisited my childhood memories after I visited it after 30 years, very unhappy to see the government's decision to block the entrance of the temple with port railway crossing, the gate remains closed forever, we should only park the car outside the railway tracks and cross the unmanned crossing checking for train, very irresponsible port authorities or government officials.

The temple is once very much popular for its boat trip to the Durga temple on the other side of the sea...but it lost its fame once after the boat trip was totally stopped. Temple is best for its view of sea from the temple. God is very much decorated and our heart fills with devotion when our we see the structure of the temple.
