It's probably the second-most popular temple in Bishnupur, after Rasmancha. The Madanmohan Temple is situated slightly far from the town center, but that doesn't make it any less attractive. Here you will come across two separate terracotta temples. The main temple has got two beautiful idols of Radha & Krishna. The intricate designs & ancient sculptures on the outer walls of temples are simply jaw-dropping. Apart from cherishing these iconic temples, you can also spend some idyllic moments in the beautiful garden premises or click some engrossing photos for posting on social media. Videography is not permitted at this temple. Outside the gate of the Madanmohan Temple you will find several small shops selling a variety of terracotta items, which you can purchase as souvenirs. During my visit in the month of October, the weather was exceedingly hot. Hence, I would recommend tourists to visit this astounding temple preferably in the winter months, for a comfortable experience.πŸ‘πŸ»

Madan Mohan Temple, Bishnupur: A Timeless Ode to Devotion and Architectural Brilliance. The Madan Mohan Temple, constructed in the 17th century by King Durjana Singh Deva, is a testament to the patronage of the Malla rulers for the arts and religion. This terracotta-adorned temple is part of the cluster of magnificent terracotta temples in Bishnupur, reflecting the vibrant cultural milieu of the time. The temple's architecture is a stunning example of the intricate and ornate terracotta style prevalent in Bishnupur. The structure follows the ekaratna style, featuring a single tower atop the sanctum. The terracotta panels adorning the temple narrate stories from Hindu mythology, showcasing the artistic prowess of the local craftsmen. Madan Mohan Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna in his Madan Mohan form, a deity who captivates hearts with his enchanting beauty. Devotees and visitors alike are drawn to the sanctum, where the idol of Madan Mohan stands as a divine representation of love, charm, and devotion. The terracotta panels that envelop the temple walls are a mesmerizing display of artistry. These panels depict scenes from the life of Lord Krishna, including his childhood antics, Ras Leela, and divine exploits. The intricate details and vibrant colors of the terracotta work contribute to the temple's visual splendor. Upon entering the temple premises, one is immediately enveloped in a spiritual atmosphere. The serene surroundings, the melodious sounds of temple bells, and the fragrance of incense create an environment conducive to prayer, reflection, and a sense of transcendence. The efforts dedicated to the conservation and preservation of Madan Mohan Temple are commendable. The Archaeological Survey of India and local authorities have undertaken initiatives to protect and maintain this cultural treasure. The meticulous preservation ensures that the temple stands as a living heritage site for generations to come. Madan Mohan Temple holds immense religious significance for the local community and attracts devotees from far and wide. The temple serves as a center for religious activities, festivals, and cultural events, fostering a sense of community and spiritual devotion. For tourists and art enthusiasts, a visit to Madan Mohan Temple is a rewarding experience. The guided tours and informational plaques provide insights into the historical context, architectural nuances, and religious importance of this iconic temple. Climbing the stairs to the elevated platform offers panoramic views of the temple complex and the surrounding landscape. Madan Mohan Temple in Bishnupur is a cultural treasure that transcends time, offering a glimpse into the artistic and religious vibrancy of Bengal's past. My visit to this historical sanctuary was both enriching and spiritually uplifting, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a profound connection with art, history, and devotion in the heart of Bishnupur.

Madanmohan temple This temple was built by Mallaraja Durjan Singh in 1694 AD. It is the best of the Bengal Chala roofed brick monolith temples with a pinnacle. The terracotta decoration of the temple walls is also worth seeing. All the temples of Bishnupur are worth seeing and there are many terracotta works. The most important thing is that they are still not spoiled after all this time.

Madanmohan temple was built by Malla king Durjan Singha (pronunciation: sing-ho) in 1695 AD. It is relatively a bigger Eka-Ratna temple compared to other similar temples in Bishnupur and is important, too. The temple has a square base of 12.2m X 12.2m and a height of 10.7m. Temple is fully covered with excellent terracotta works. I need to buy tickes from Rashmancha West Bengal tourism ticket counter. Rs.25/- for 3 templels together.

King Durjana Singh Deva built the temple in 1694 AD in the ekaratna style, a square flat-roofed building with carved cornices, surmounted by a pinnacle. Impressive carvings on the walls depict scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Puranas.

At a distance of 3 km from Bishnupur Bus Station, Madan Mohan Temple is one of the ancient temples located in Bishnupur town of West Bengal. It is one of the most beautiful historical temples in West Bengal and among the prime places to visit in Bishnupur as part of Kolkata Tour Packages. The temple of Madan Mohan was constructed by Malla King Durjana Singh Deva in 1694 AD for his family deities of Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. Built-in Eka-Ratna style, the temple has a square flat roof with curved cornices and a pinnacle over the top. It is relatively a bigger Eka-Ratna temple compared to other similar temples in Bishnupur and one of the most renowned temples in the town. The present temple was built after the original temple was damaged due to a massive earthquake in 1820. The temple is mainly built of earthen bricks on a laterite block platform. The terracotta walls of this temple are very beautiful and covered with carvings, statues, and reliefs depicting mythological stories of Ramayana and Krishna Leela. Around the innermost sanctuary where the idol is kept, there are covered porches on three sides. Except for the rear wall, on each of these three porches have three arched openings and the main entrance being on the west. There are two huge and magnificent pillars crafted with beautiful artwork stands tall to welcome the devotees at the entrance of the temple. The base of the pillars has mythological scenes of battle between Hanuman, the Hindu monkey god, and his army of monkeys who were devoted to Lord Rama and Ravana. There is a big tree just outside the temple whose trunk has a formation and people have put vermilion on it to give it a face of Lord Ganesh. There are many shops outside the temple selling terracotta items like Horses, Idols, etc. Visitors can get the entry tickets for all the Bishnupur temples from Rasmancha including this one. Else, visitors are not allowed to enter inside the temple. Timings: 6 AM - 6 PM

Madanmohan Temple is one of the famous ancient temples with age of more than 1000 years and is maintained by archeological survey of India. The temple is build up of different gems and materials and it's the home of the creator Sri Krishna with his soul Radhika . Though under the maintenance of archeological survey, the idols inside the temple is till getting worshipped since the first day of the temple. It has "Tulsi mandap" infront of the temple and "natmandir" . "Kirtan", one of the famous way to sing song for the creator is done on that "natmandir" every evening. It gets closed at 8.00pm(varies). Centering the temple there are lots of local and rural hand made creative works made of "pora mati" are sold that should be bought definitely . It's a must visit place to get idea about the culture of proper Bengal things and sculptures.

The front of the temple in beautiful with intricate terracotta panels and pillars. However same can't be said about the sides and the back. There's really no upkeep of the sides or the grounds. Such beautiful heritage pieces lying there just like any other neighborhood temple.

(Visited in February 2022) - Madan Mohan Temple is a brilliant specimen of Bengali Chala Terracotta temple. Unlike many other temples of Bishnupur, there is a Thakur viz murti of Lord Sri Krishna in the temple. It's a bit far off from other temples of Bishnupur, but worth visiting, and one of the more complete temples still standing.
