A great place to stop with clean washrooms. 👌 Inside there are free interpretive displays of animals and vegetation of the National Park that you will see. I learned about the Nene there that i previously had not known about. There is also a Park guide in there to answer all kinds of questions that you may have this is all for free. They do have some donation boxes if you wish to donate a few dollars. There are pamphlets available to take with you as well as some souvenirs for sale too. There is plenty of parking too.

Our favorite place to visit while on our trip to 3 of the Hawaiian islands! We had many adventures in this park and really enjoyed hiking to various features within it. Observing Kilauea erupting was of course the highlight, and it was an experience we couldn’t get enough of. We visited Kilauea summit several times during our week on the Big Island. It was beautiful! But there are so many other things to see and do in the park. I would recommend more than one day here to fully immerse yourself in what the park has to offer. And make sure you stop at the gift shop a Art Gallery!

This is probably one of the coolest things to do on the face of the planet! Fresh earth being made before your eyes every day. The history of the park itself is pretty cool, it has been many an inspiration to a great deal of people from around the globe. You should be prepared to spend an entire day or more exploring. Go at night and take the hike to the active viewpoint, its worth it.

Very nice and informative visitor center. It's best to go early as it will get crowded, but the trails are easy to access and find. Beautiful sights no matter the weather. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing experience. The national park rangers are SO great and very knowledgeable and always willing to share it. Crazy to see the rainforests right next to volcanoes and the landscape change so dramatically! The lava tube was cool but hard to appreciate all of it without a guide or informational session. The visitor center has mountain water you can bottle, a gift shop, an educational center that teaches about the wildlife, plants and history of Kilauea. The rangers were the best part, though! We missed lava flow by 5 days!! But the rangers shared awesome pictures they had captured few months prior. Cost is per vehicle but we got the annual pass!

Very helpful rangers. Easy and moderate walks to great views, nice nature, and fun activities. Lava tube parking was difficult. I do recommend the rainforest hike a few miles up the road.

Volcano National Park. An incredibly beautiful place to visit and see a volcano. The visitor center's staff were helpful and friendly. They definitely shared their knowledge to meet the needs of my visit. Highly recommended!

A must visit location if you are visiting Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. The visitor center has charts and diagrams that talk about different things at the National Park: Flora, Fauna, etc. The visitor center also has a gift shop to get your National Parks passport stamped or to get gifts such as tshirts, magnets, etc.

Volcanoes was a highlight of the trip to the big island. Kilauea Iki trail allows you to walk a short distance down into the crater. Beautiful place to hike in the late afternoon

Time travel to National Park visitor centers of the 1980s... An assumably 40 year old movie on the volcano background, with some very debatable cultural representations. Sound quality was horrid. Th park itself is beautiful and definitely worth the visit. Especially the trails (like Iki Crater at sunset). Or come very early in the morning. Skip the visitor center...

So Beautiful ! Amazing art , fine dining , friendly folks , comfortable atmosphere , and cozy fireplace. Bring warm clothes and rain gear. The weather is often chilly and unpredictable

Nice, clean and well maintained center. Big outdoor maps help you orient yourself with all the trails and locations if you haven't already planned your day in the park. Inside the center, if you dont know much about Hawaiian island formation or volcanoes, this center provides easy to read educational exhibits and presentations to explain stuff, with helpful staff that answer questions and provide presentations thru the day. Lots of stuff for kids to see as well, and a educational movie theater. Nice gift shop, and the usual well maintained restrooms.

The rangers are very excellent at helping you decide your visit, but it's very busy so make sure you get there early. Also make sure you bring a jacket as it can rain and be cold. But it usually won't last long.

Kind of a small area that gets crowded with tourists. One side has a small gift shop with the usual t-shirts, water bottles, calendars, coloring books, stickers, etc. The other side has some nice interpretive displays. In the middle of all this was an extremely enthusiastic park ranger who was first narrating an informative video and then working very hard to round up some kids for a "ranger program." Not sure what exactly that is, but I'm sure kids would have a blast. This ranger was an older man who seemed like an absolute gem! He was very happy to provide assistance and answer any questions!

NPS visitor center is clean and well appointed with informative staff, interactive exhibits, free maps, gift shop, and restrooms. There is also an art gallery next door. The hike to the Kilauea Crater is an easy walk or a quick drive. Either way it's worth seeing. Check with the visitor center regarding the volcano's current activity level. There are several active vents and you have an unobstructed view of the crater from several vantage points along the crater trail.

There are a ton of exhibits here, not just of the park, but the formation and history of the entire hawaiian Islands. Park rangers were beyond helpful and knowledgeable from the moment the doors opened. They couldn't wait to talk to everyone and answer any and all questions. The gift shop was small. There are 2 way bigger ones right across the street at the volcano house (which also had an amazing view of the whole crater).

The center, during our visit, had a very knowledgeable volunteer park ranger who clearly explained all the details very well. Ample parking, lots of maps, history and other information. Great experience for adventurers and families of all ages.

Fun and beautiful place. Lots to see and lots to learn. Walk around on trails to see the crater, steam vents and beautiful views. Visit the museum, talk to the guides and go on an adventure. There's a restaurant, art gallery, a theater, museum and more.

I took a 6 hour bus tour to the park as I only had one day on the Big Island. There was plenty to see in a couple of hours. Multiple views of the crater, an informative visitors center and a walk through the lava tube. Some of the parking lots along the park roads are small and some of the features may be hard to access later in the day.

Lots of interactive learning for kids AND ADULTS but only open till 5:30pm Go before adventuring to learn about the volcano, wildlife, rthe rainforest and more. Free once in the park (30$/week pass to national park) and there are park guides/rangers outside to talk to and ask questions 😀

Nice and informative visitors center. The live talk by a volunteer ranger was exciting. He encouraged us to see the lava at night - which is a must do. There are some interesting tree molds outside the main park which were cool.

Volcano national park was awesome must see, make site you do the hike by the lava tube down into the 🌋 Volcano it is the best. It's a 4 mile trek or close to it but if you can only do half and just come back up it is a once in a lifetime experience

Home of the Volcano National Park and open until 5pm for information and souvenirs. Park open 24 hours, lodge with a restaurant, camping and cabins and separate accommodations for military and veterans. Best time to see the lava from the volcano is at night with a 1 mile walk but get there early due to limited parking.

Beautiful visitor center. Small but full of information. Many videos and interactive displays. Outdoors they have a ranger available answering any questions that visitors have and giving recommendations for best times and locations.

A perfect gateway to watching a volcano so up and close. A ranger gives detailed information every half hour. The actual visitor area has a nice lounge vibe. You an sit in lounge area and have some view of crater before driving 2 miles to actual volcano. The sulphur steams are a short walk down.

The live info guides fielding questions from arriving visitors just outside the gift shop seem highly positive and enthusiastic about what they do. My understanding from a Park volunteer is that a number of those elderly guides are themselves volunteers. Nice to see age, wisdom and knowledge in action instead of nonchalant adolescents trying to accumulate volunteer hours to present on their academic resumes. The gift shop doesn't accept cash, only half the available building space is being utilized, and currently a maximum of only ten customers at any one moment can be physically in the shop due to pandemic. The Volcano House is immediately across the street, but not highly visible due to forest cover; good views from Volcano House are free of charge. The restaurant there is not too bad, but the prices are through the roof.
