This trail is not for the casual hiker, it is muddy in many areas, cut through a dense jungle, and has swamps, mosquitoes and quite a bit of humidity (bring water). There is also wildlife you can hear, but cannot see. That been said, this place is amazing. The feeling of isolation and stillness when you reach the creek is something to experience. Felt like I was in a different world and time. The overcast sky that day really added to that feeling. Highly recommend!

Took a family hike here with our 3 year old. He absolutely loved it! We turned around at this creek area as it was getting late in the day. We did see some wildlife including a gator, some small harmless snakes, a deer, and many squirrels! There are some muddy areas but nothing too crazy that my son got through on his own!

I never knew this place existed. It is very interesting. I know now where a good kayak launch is.

I spent the afternoon here, it was well worth it. Some great trails to hike on. I hiked the main trail for over 4 1/2 mi and it was very interesting with all the wildlife out in the swampy areas. Crabs were coming to the surface in a moving water mass under the bridge. The trails are well maintained, there are some muddy areas about halfway just before you get to the bridge where it crosses over a creek. The restrooms were clean, there was no drinkable water. There are barbecues and picnic tables. The setting was very quiet as it was far enough off the highway to enjoy nature. Along the trail some of the trees are very dense and you see many, ancient oak trees that must be at least 200 years old. There is no fee to get in the park and it's well worth the trip.

This old growth forest truly has a mystical feeling about it. The energy here is unique compared to most state parks and forests that have been constantly disturbed by human activities; this one has not and it shows. Definitely recommend. If you are going to hike through, be ready for some areas that are only lightly maintenanced for trails. Also, if you take the loop path in the north of the park, be aware of pygmy rattlesnakes near the marsh as I encountered two of them. Dont let that discourage you though, just be respectful of their space and they will move along.

Awesome trail, one of the better ones Iโ€™ve found in the area. The reason why Iโ€™ve given 4 stars is that it is a very muddy wet trail which has prevented me from completing the whole out & back route. Third timeโ€™s the charm I guess. Lots of wildlife out here too which makes it much more interesting and enjoyable!

I am sorry to have to give a low rating but this place wasnt clean at all. The 1st night we had no sleep due to the long term occupant next to us blaring music from 11pm to 7am. It was awful! They allowed us to move and we stayed a total of 6 days but they did not have sewage hookups for thousand trails members and the bathrooms were really bad. Very little safety or privacy. Probably will not be back.

It was all blocked off because of Hurricane Ian coming through but the featured famed Oak tree is still standing and looks great!

Really neat place. Lots of history to read about the Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park with lots to see. Plus, itโ€™s just very low volume of people during the week. Closed Tuesday and Wednesdayโ€™s.

Trail just before entrance to ruins shows closed. Went anyways... the trail is not your normal easy Florida trail; lots of overgrowth and downed trees, limbs etc. made it fun. It's easy to lose sight of the trail at certain places, and just as easy to get back on track... 5.6 miles 3.5 hrs.

Great trail with lots of scenery. Hiked Bulow Creek SP to Bulow Creek Ruins via the Bulow Creek Trail. 8.4 miles. Hang left at the fork at the canal and cross the dilapidated bridge across the canal (or walk as itโ€™s just ankle deep). Lots of wildlife and awesome โ€œnaturalโ€ bridges!

Loved the trails. Easy walking and totally shaded. Only problem no benches to sit and take a snack break

The Fairchild oak is where I find my peace. I sit and talk to this tree often. It's stories are ancient and fascinating; but only if you can hear it whisper them in the breeze.

Historical experience and awesome artifacts on display. Well worth the $4 entrance fee which was really kinda voluntary. Would highly recommend for a picnic or family outing!

I go to Bulow Creek at least twice a week to walk my dog. She is still a puppy and learning to be my hiking buddy. I like that I can take different trails to keep her interested. In the last couple of weeks, we have seen a huge eagle's nest with one of the parents calling for its mate. We have seen a turkey and a black racer snake. I can't wait to explore with my pup!

Great place to visit. The history behind the mill is fascinating. You can fish and picnic as well. Several tables and an indoor area. Nice bathrooms. Very serene location. Walking trails to the mill are fun for exploring.
