I visited this place very recently on 13-03-2022 and found this place quite good. It's 35-45minutes away from Akola main city. You can use their vehicles for safari in 1900 including every thing or can use your own vehicle for the same. It was of 750 including guide and every thing. A resturant is also there but it was closed at that time. It take 2.5hrs to 3hrs to complete the Jungle Safari. I will suggest you to go there in early morning or late evening because in the afternoon you won't be able to see any wildlife creature. Till seven in summer and six o clock in winter you can enjoy safari. Night facilities aren't there for Jungle Safari. It was really really good.

Decent place for a day picnic near Akola. Visitors can take Safari, Boating and enjoy the beauty of nature. However, chances of animal sightings are very less. There is a small canteen outside for the food though people prefer to bring their own food. There's an entry fee per person. If properly maintained this could be a very good place for people to hangout.

The place is very lively. But very poorly maintained. MTDC should preserve it up. Safari ride is there but no coordination, cottages are not maintained properly. The place having 14 leopards, but not really cared. Views and atmosphere is cherishmatic.. Those who love nature and Jungle walk trails should must visit the same. Guides are very nice and having very good knowledge. Get well soon MTDC.

Stayed for 2 nights here in end September '23.. Located in the lap of nature, the rooms are appropriately furnished ; non availability of geyser in the rooms is a drawback though.. The views and arrangements in the camp are generally Ok. But there are absolutely no arrangements for food here; that is a huge handicap if one wants to stay here.. We had to travel 10 kilometers for our lunch and dinner; about 5 kilometers for breakfast, or even tea... Could see sambar, wild rabbit, langur and spotted deer within the campus.. Despite being off-season and the rains, could spot 65 species of birds (including some passage migrants like common cuckoo and brown breasted flycatcher) during my stay... A boating facility is available, but it was non-operational during our stay.. Also safari and guided nature walks were non-operational during our stay, apparently due to the rains... It would be advisable to check beforehand with the Forest department and plan accordingly...

Best Place to visit in AKOLA💗 I LOVED IT. I want a break from the life and that place was just the thing I want... And I was not even knowing that there is something like wildlife sanctuary near AKOLA... Tho I didn't get to see much animals there, I saw a pair of deer, still scenery and area was great❤️

The land vegetation at Katepurna Sanctuary is southern tropical dry deciduous forest. There are over 115 species of plants at this sanctuary such as Bahada, Dhawada, Moha, Tendu, Khair, Salai, Aola, Teude, etc. Katepurna Wildlife Sanctuary is renowned for the four-horned antelope and barking deer. Other animals that you can see at the sanctuary include black buck, leopard, wolf, wild boar, hyena, hare, nilgai, jungle cat and monkey. Among the birds, Peafowl is the common bird spotted by tourists. You can also view several species of common grassland and wetland birds here. The Katepurna water reservoir attracts many water birds. You can reach Katepurna Sanctuary comfortably by air, rail, and road. The closest airport is the Sonegaon Airport, located 292 km away. The Akola Junction Railway Station, situated 40 km away on the Mumbai-Nagpur rail route, is the closest railhead. Akola is well-connected by an extensive network of roads to all the major towns of Maharashtra. During your visit to the Katepurna Sanctuary in you can enjoy a comfortable stay at the various hotels in Akola. However, there is no accommodation facility near the sanctuary. The sanctuary should be ideally visited between the months of October and June.

A Pleasant refreshment for the people of akola and surroundings at about 1 hr drive from akola to katepurna Wildlife Sanctuary. It is built around Katepurna or Mahan Reservior.Situated approx 90km south of akola. The View is very scenic and one would awe at the beauty of the Nature. For the entry one has to purchase ticket with valid id proof(Better if Aadhar card is with you). After getting the ticket, you will have to travel from the jungle or forest trail to reach the view point which is at approx 10mims drive.Vehicles are allowed with chargers applied.Night stay is available with minimum charges of 500rs.Work in progress for the Jungle safaris and Boat rides.Watch towers are present with a beautiful view of the Reservior and the scanctuary. The workers present are native to akola and very humble and friendly They did offered me their lunch and gave me onion and chilly as we were having our food.As of present 30th june 2018 the work is in progress in the scanctuary and is not completed 100%.There is more to explore and experience in near time.Good for the family trip.Toilets are available with water.Parking is available.

The surrounding areas are great. The boating experience was good too. The issue is waiting time for boating (mine was 2hrs+). Also there are a lot of risky areas near the dam and boating counter.

All the planning, trouble and expenditure of group tour gone waste, just because the management failed to mention or advertise that the sanctuary will close at 5:00 p.m. Upon reaching the gate at 4:00 p.m to avail the 3 hours of evening time till the sunset, the ticket vendor disinterestedly mentioned that we will have to leave within one hour. Even during that hour there is none of the promised activity,(boating etc.). It appears almost that the tourists are unwelcome in the sanctuary. The whole group had to remain content watching the waves flowing in the lake. Why can't the management publicise the work timings instead of claiming that it is open 24 hours?

It's a really great place to visit, you can get plenty of great pictures if visiting in winter or rainy seasons but if u want to see and enjoy the wildlife do visit during summer as animals comes closer to the river itself...entry is generally 25 rs per person and 30 rs extra if u are going to carry your own vehicle inside and boating and safari is also a good option but bit expensive as per the service they provide also do keep your water bottles along as there is a shortage of drinking water Guides are quite polite there... walking down the trail is a must have experience also try to go with a bigger group and do carry your adhar cards as it's mandatory
